Chapter 19: Kitsune
Jungkook was rather afraid. He was afraid of letting Jimin join him and get the older caught. Jungkook just wrapped his free arm around Jimin's waist and pulled him close enough to rest his chin over his shoulder. Silence followed the two after Jimin said such words and it was enough to send chills down his spine. Jungkook was worried about the pain he could inflict over the one he truly wanted to protect and love.
“Why… aren't you saying… anything?” Jimin whispered and carefully left a kiss along Jungkook's jawline. “Talk to me…”
Jungkook then pressed his forehead against Jimin's and caressed his face carefully. “Is that what you want so desperately? To be with me even if there's a chance we might be separated?” Jungkook asked as Jimin nodded his head. “You do so much for love; My Swan is too obsessed with the thought of being together, he forgets the bigger flaws in choosing a lifestyle like this…”
“I don't care… Jungkook, let's go to the hospital, you can't have that shoulder out of place.” Jimin urged Jungkook and held his hand before guiding him to the car. Together, they sat in silence while Jungkook cupped his dislocated shoulder that still hurt with each attempt to move it. Jungkook hissed underneath his own breath while he pressed his head against the window of the passenger's seat. Jimin however, was left to drive and endure Jungkook's sounds of agony with his shoulder hurting even more. Jungkook tried so hard to hold in the pain back when he was talking to Jimin, but now it was hurting even more than before.
The car ride was silent the whole time. Jungkook never accepted Jimin's request on joining the gang the younger spoke of, so the older had to wait just to hear the answer. Obviously, Jimin wasn't going to accept any answer but a yes. He just had to join to stop Jungkook from doing something he could regret. Jungkook glorified killing for revenge, unaware of the reality that could actually have a big toll on him. There were things that could lead to guilt and depressing thoughts once he finally got what he deserved and Jimin knew Jungkook wasn't strong enough to face it.
As soon as they arrived at a hospital during the rain, Jimin helped Jungkook reach the front desk and get help for his shoulder. After, Jimin was left to wait out in the lobby since he didn't want to hear the sound of Jungkook's shoulder popping back into place, he sat and pondered his life once he gets into the gang. Jungkook was like the Robin Hood of the city… However, he held in his desires for revenge. Jungkook was a nice person skin deep, but he hid all of it just so he wouldn't be able to show no mercy once he confronts the man who killed his brother. Jimin sighed to himself as his clothes were still drenched from the rain. He hugged himself just hoping he could change the way Jungkook would think. The boy was perfect, happy, strong, intelligent… But, he also had a bad side that showed today and that was when Jimin finally found out his secret.
"I don't need you…"
"Let's break up…."
The man recalled Jungkook's words and it hurt when he thought of it twice. Was Jungkook that desperate to keep Jimin safe to the point where he tried to break him? Jimin sat in silence as he waited to hear from Jungkook and talk this out. Jimin was persistent when it came to getting to his lover and he didn't want to give up at all. As Jimin waited, he was finally called to Jungkook's room number so they could check out and be on their way. Every thought of what Jimin processed before was silenced once he stepped into the room Jungkook was in.
Jungkook sat over a bed and had his shirt off with a black shoulder bandage over his shoulder and a slinger to keep his arm in place. This bandage was for shoulders specifically to focus on healing the shoulder once it was popped back into place. As soon as Jimin locked eyes with Jungkook, Jungkook signalled his boyfriend to sit next to him as he had his wet shirt and leather coat hanging over a table to dry, since the doctors insisted. “Come here…” Jungkook spoke calmly as Jimin went to sit next to Jungkook after.
“I'm sorry about your shoulder...”
“That's okay. At least it didn't break… My motorcycle was damaged though. One of my gang members went off to find it and the wheel you hit, came off so easily.” Jungkook told Jimin and pressed his free hand behind his body to hold himself up. “But, I feel alright. Doctor says it will take at least twelve weeks to heal? I don't remember.” Jungkook chuckled as Jimin grew silent and looked at Jungkook in his bandages. “Hey… Baby, I'm okay!” Jungkook chuckled and held Jimin's chin carefully into his hand. Pointing his chin to his. “Say something, Swan…”
“I almost killed you…”
“But you didn't. That's it. Don't cry over it, okay? You can only cry for me if I'm really dead…” Jungkook whispered and gave Jimin a gentle kiss over his pink and plump lips. “Your Jungkook still loves you…”
“I love you too…” Jimin whispered and pressed his forehead against Jungkook's chest. “I'll take you home.”
“If you wanted to ask about the gang and if you can join, why aren't you bothering me about it?” Laughed the younger as he finally stood up and looked over at Jimin. “Go on… Ask.”
“...Can I join?” Jimin asked. As Jungkook threw his free arm around Jimin and nodded his head carefully. “R-Really?”
“You'll be by my side. So, there will be moments where I'll take you away from missions that are too tough for you. I can't lose you, you're the only one in my life and losing you… let's… not think about that.” Jungkook mentioned and walked with Jimin to the door to leave the room. Jimin threw Jungkook's leather jacket over his shoulders, and carried the younger's shirt. Together, they walked out of the hospital after signing papers and leaving for the night. It was required for Jungkook to stay, but the man felt like leaving since his shoulder was only healing for the next few weeks.
After the storm cleared up, Jimin noticed the dark and grey clouds pulling away and the afternoon sun was finally visible. “Does it hurt?” Jimin asked as he opened the car door for Jungkook to sit in the passengers seat.
“No, I have painkillers.” Jungkook answered and watched Jimin close the door and soon meet him on the driver's seat. “Darling, when we get to my place, can you stay a little longer?” Jungkook asked as Jimin smiled and leaned over to help Jungkook with his seatbelt. “I have work in my office to do and I don't want to feel lonely while I'm there.”
“Of course I'll stay with you… Then… can we talk about me joining the gang? I think there's more for me to learn about.”
“Alright.” Jungkook answered. Nothing else followed after they concluded that conversation. Jimin drove Jungkook home and was planning to stay with him longer so the man wouldn't feel lonely like always. Jimin figured that in a big house like that, Jungkook went through many hours of being alone and it made Jimin's heart heavy. Jungkook wanted his boyfriend to be by his side everyday like he wanted him to live with him for many years to come. On the other hand, Jungkook didn't want to rush in since many things they faced was already sped through. Their first kiss, their first night, a date, and now, exchanging the words ‘I love you’. It seemed too fast for them and Jungkook just didn't want to rush into anything like he did before. He wanted to take his time with Jimin as if they truly did have forever… Right?
As soon as they arrived, Jungkook walked with Jimin inside the house and locked the door behind him after. “I'll be in my office. Do whatever you please, My Swan.” Jungkook stated as he walked towards the stairs.
“You have to rest, Jungkook. I'll help you in the office… Okay?” Jimin jumped in and caressed Jungkook's injured shoulder carefully. “Please… Let me help you.”
“Alright… come with me.” Jungkook made up his mind and allowed Jimin to follow. There was too much to talk about and he had to work as well. So, being able to focus on two things at once seemed to stress him out. He needed Jimin's help to ease the stress by there. “Why don't we… talk about the gang first? I'll keep it brisk and simple.” Jungkook pointed out as Jimin nodded his head happily. “You're very excited over a gang…”
“I think I see it as…me spending more time with you and knowing so much about you. It really makes me smile.” The older giggled and then felt Jungkook throw his free arm around his lover's neck to walk with him up the stairs. Once they reached the entry to the office down the hall, Jungkook turned the knob and opened it so suddenly. As soon as Jungkook opened the door, Jimin's eyes scattered along the whole room. This room however, wasn't in any ocean theme. It had a vintage wood along the walls, black marbled floors and white carpets scattered underneath each maple furnishing. The way the wood was varnished and polished, made this room look as if it was for display!
A flat-screen TV hung at the center of the room; above three couches. One three-seater couch, a one-seat couch and another two-seater. Having varnished wood around the edges as the cushions were a royal red with white flowers decorated into every stitching. Far off to the right corner, there was a black monitor over a wooden desk, brown leather seat tucked underneath the cavity under the desk, file cabinets painted in steel black to fit the theme, and paperwork scattered everywhere. However, Jimin couldn't focus on all the furniture and admire the little polish or varnish, when his attention truly pointed off to the left side of the room. That's where the interesting things stood.
The left side of the room had a collection of traditional Japanese masks just like the man in the store Jimin visited to negotiate. Jimin was amazed at how beautifully they hung over a flower-like cloth that gave the masks a sense of color. There was many to look at. There were demons, devils, animals… all of them left Jimin with the familiar feeling. “All of these here…” Jimin pointed out to the five that hung over the wall importantly. “I've seen these masks on your gang members… The oni mask is here too… I've broken the one you wore all the time.”
“All of them are taken and since there isn't enough masks for everyone else, they design their own. There's only a handful that wear the traditional ones though. The Oni mask you broke held no importance. I have another one up there so I can put on for the next task. However, there's one up there that I left unused for so long…” Jungkook mentioned. Walking up to stand by Jimin's side as they looked up at the masks. “And… I want you to wear it…”
“Which one is it?” Inquired the man. Jungkook only backed up and turned to the side where a mask of a white and red painted mask sat over a wooden pedestal with the same flower cloth holding it. The mask looked polished at least twice a day and the surface showed it as well! Jimin tilted his head and wondered why it was isolated from the rest. “Why isn't it up here too?”
“Because… That mask was going to go to our next member who joins and you happen to be the one.” Jungkook answered as Jimin was left staring at the mask. “That is the mask of a fox; Kitsune. It could represent the good or evil. Depending on what you choose to do with it.”
