Shrieks began blasting my eardrums and I had to turn away before the axe hit. My hands trembled against my cheeks while my breaths were quickening. People began shoving me to get away from the, most likely, dead man.
I heard high pitched cries beside me. Glancing over, I saw Chenle attached to Jueun's arm, having to bury his face against her shoulder. Jueun's face revealed her utterly terrified feeling.
"OHMYGODOHMYGOD!" The familiar voice of Mi-Cha yelled. Her and Jaemin were scooting away from the crowd so they wouldn't get trampled over.
"EVERYONE CALM DOWN!" G-Dragon ordered, almost tripping over his own wobbly feet caused by too much alcohol. He was stumbling out of the small room with a bottle still in his hand. "What's going on out here?"
"Do you not see the dead guy?!" Johnny yelled at him. "Jesus, do you understand now why it isn't the smartest idea to throw a part where someone died?"
"Someone died here?!" Mark broke out from the panicking hoard. "You mean, we're disturbing a ghosts death spot?!"
"This!" Johnny threw up his hands, motioning around the area. "This is what ignorance does!"
There were a couple seconds of dead silence as the power flickered once again. Then, the noise broke out even louder. Almost like a motherly instinct, my first thought was to check and make sure our group was all gathered around. Jeno and Renjun were pulling themselves out of the crowd to meet us; Chenle was locked onto Jueun's arm, face still hidden against her shoulder; Jisung was standing stiffly in his place, looking like he was trying to keep cool and failing; Hana's eyes were the size of saucers; Jaemin had Mi-Cha wrapped with his arms; Johnny and Mark were both freaking out to G-Dragon; and myself, starting to have a panic attack from not only the recent situation, but also the fact that we're missing someone.
"Haechan," I whispered to myself, realizing who wasn't present. "Haechan!"
The others began to notice his absence and yelled out his name as well. "HAECHAN! HAECHAN!"
"I can't take any more of this!" I screamed. My fingers ran through my dark, long hair, threatening to yank in frustration.
"Why can't we all just stick together, goddamnit!" Mark cussed.
"We're gonna have to split up if want to find Haechan!" Johnny took my hand, claiming me as his partner for searching. "Remember the buddy system, kids!"
Jaemin locked his fingers with Mi-Cha's. Because of Mi-Cha freaking out so much, she also gripped to Hana's arm for extra people on their team. As they ran off, Jisung followed after. Jueun was just starting to shuffle off with a clingy Chenle before we heard G-Dragon's yell.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?" The bottle he held crashed to the ground as he pointed towards the direction behind me. I spun, sure that I could pass out if anything worse happened. However, I was confused to find nothing out of the ordinary. Only a few groups of people began to scream and trudge over anything to get away.
"What are you going on about?" Johnny demanded an answer. "There's nothing there!"
"This must all be a joke!" A bratty voice boomed over the noise. Soomi appeared from the crowd. She flipped a long braid over her shoulder with annoyance. "Guys! It's Halloween, and he's probably pranking us!"
"I see it!" Someone cried. "I don't know what it is, but see it!"
"If it isn't a joke, then why can't we all see it?"
"Shit, I know what's happening." A guy unfamiliar to me spoke up from behind. "It's a Meitei Yurei. From Japanese, it directly translated to 'intoxication ghost'." The guy exhaled sharply. "Usually, these spirits are incredibly unstable and violent. You can only see them if you're wasted."
"Where did it go?!" G-Dragon whipped his head around from where he stood, back pressed against a wall. He never seemed to find what he as looking for.
"How are you supposed to get rid of it?" Johnny asked the stranger.
"A samurai sword with a Shinto blessing needs to go through the spirit."
Johnny's arms came down hard against the side of his legs. "Who would just happen to have a samurai sword in their possession at this time?"
"I have one!" G-Dragon ran up to us, hope in his drunken eyes. "In the haunted walkway that I set up with all the decorations!"
"Who would do a Shinto blessing?" Johnny asked.
The stranger took a step closer with a small, hinting cough. "Well, I am Japanese. I'm sure I can read it. I just need water."
"Hyunji, we'll go get some water for, uh." Johnny glanced up to the Japanese guy. "What's your name?"
"Yuta."
Johnny quickly turned his attention back to me. "We'll get the water for Yuta while we get the others to retrieve the sword." After finishing, he glanced to Mark, Jeno, and Renjun who were the ones still here. Chenle and Jueun must've gone off with the others to look for Haechan.
"Got it." Mark nodded and headed off with Jeno and Renjun hot on his heels.
"Why does this have to happen to us?" I huffed, closing my hands over my face. I felt Johnny's arms circle around my body.
"We've survived one spirit, we can survive another." Johnny's words were encouraging and sure of victory, but the sound of his voice wavered a bit.
"I hope you're right."
