Chapter 3

Later in the afternoon, Boollivan decided to rest under a bunch of gnarled and leafless trees. He enjoyed the lonely silence of the outside forest. No boo to make fun of his size or lack of illusion abilities. The silence helped him relax and clear his mind of all the things that were troubling him, but he wasn't crying. Crying wouldn't help his situation. All he needed was time to think to himself without any interruptions-

But it didn't take very long for him to suddenly feel a presence. Something - or theoretically someone was watching him, lurking in the darkness of the forest.

"Hey-" a voice called out to him all of a sudden. He quickly rose his spherical body upwards in surprise, looking up to see another boo hovering slightly above him.

He quickly realized it was his friend, Booligan. "You scared me! What do you want anyway? Why do you still want to be around a loser boo like me?" Boollivan asked, coolly.

"Cause I don't think you are a loser. Besides, I also think you need some company." Booligan earnestly answered.

Boollivan only scoffed. "What makes you say that? I don't need company... I prefer to be alone right now. It's not like any boos will appreciate me anyway. What makes you any different? You're better off leaving me alone as well before anyone starts bullying you too."

"You know I do and nothing you say can change that. My other friends would too and I was wondering if you'd give me a chance to let you meet them." Booligan offered.

This made Boollivan pause for a moment to think it over further. "Your... Friends?" That's right, Booligan wanted him to meet his friends earlier but he never got the chance.

"Yeah, we make for excellent company. I promise you that." Said Booligan, holding out an appendage to Boollivan. "Come on, let me introduce them to you. At least give them a chance."

"Introduce me...?" He paused for a moment before continuing. "Just so they can judge me too for my illusion blunders."

"They won't laugh at you. I promise! You really should meet them before we make false accusations before you even know them."

Boollivan's guard was up. Should he really trust his best friend? However, the look in Booligan's eyes were very friendly and sincere that soothed Boollivan. "Alright... Fine... I'll give them a chance." He reached over and took Booligan's nubby appendage, returning a trusting smile.

The two boos hovered over to a clearing further away from the tower and deeper into the forest. Boollivan wasn't sure where they were going or what his friend was really up to but he carried on with it a little more.

"Hey everyone! Boollivan's here with us too!" Booligan shouted to seemingly no one in particular.

Before Booligan could question if his friend was hallucinating and his friends were all just pure imagination, fifteen other boos began to appear and hover around them. Their tongues sticking out and wide smiles plastered on their faces in full excitement. All of the boos quickly turned to greet them both. "There he is! We heard so much about you from Booligan. It's nice to finally meet you!" One of the boos beamed brightly.

Boollivan was very surprised to see so many boos happy to see him. Most boos would just turn away and ignore him. It has been a long time that he actually meant truly friendly boos like this. He was still a bit hesitant but he didn't want to seem rude to his potential new friends. He slowly waved an appendage to them and greeted them. "Hello everyone...!"

"Hey! You must be Boollivan!" One of the boos spoke up.

"I am."

"My name's Booster. It's a pleasure to meet you!" The boo named Booster introduced, offering his small appendage to him to shake. Boollivan quickly accepted it to avoid seeming rude.

"It's nice to meet you too, Booster."

The other fourteen boos quickly hovered around Boollivan but not too close to avoid making him uncomfortable. They all awaited their turns to introduce themselves.

"I'm Boomer!"

"I'm Boonevolent!"

"My names's Boolicia."

"The name's Boosephine."

"Boocille is my name!"

"Booginia is mine!"

"Booklyn! It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Boollivan."

"I'm Boollington!"

"I'm the lovely Boonadette."

"I'm Boostace!"

"It's Boogene here!"

"You got to Boolieve I've been waiting ages to meet you. Also that's my name. Hehe!"

"I'm Faboolous!"

"Booquet is present."

"We don't care if you're a smaller than average boo. Size doesn't matter to us and we think it's cruel that boos would judge others for appearance when we all still look identical." Faboolous added.

"You—don't?"

"Of course, we don't! We want you to feel welcome in our little circle, so would you like to tell us what's on your mind?"

"Yeah," agreed Boolicia. "It seems you have a lot to get off your chest."

Boollivan took a deep breath. "Truth is— I hate that I'm always seen as a joke— a laughing stock to the other boos for my small size. I want to be taken more seriously just like all the other boos," he said. "Sure, I'm smaller than the average Boo, but they all don't seem to understand that size doesn't matter. I'm trying my hardest to be the best Boo I can be, but it seems that I'm held back at every turn rather it's my size or my lack of special talent. I seem to be a late bloomer since my powers have been slow in developing, and my small size has also done even more harm than good. I have been laughed at and made fun of by so many of the other boos that I want to prove them that I can be stronger than them. I want to be better than them in every possible way so their bickering can finally come to an end!" He explained.

"I think you're starting way too big. You should try starting small and then grow over time once you have more experience. Maybe we could try training together." Boostace replied.

"Yeah... I guess you're right. I should start off easy and go up from there. You can't climb up a ladder from the top. You always start at the bottom and I'll need to climb slowly up that experience ladder. That-That'll be nice actually!"

"Exactly! You shouldn't give up. You can't let them win. You need to prove them wrong. Things might be unbearable for now but it'll get better. We think something big is going to happen. You are way important than you think. You could provide a huge change for boo kind. A change for the better. A future that'll make every boo special no matter how big or small they are and how inexperienced they are as well. Something that all boos need to accept. That not all boos can learn the same way and can't develop as fast as the others can. They just need a little more encouragement." Boonevolent chimed in.

"What do you mean?" Boollivan asked. A bit confused about what Boonevolent was saying.

"We see it in your eyes," Boosephine explained. "A strange glimmer that goes as red as a ruby or as purple as an amethyst. You want to do something with your life. There's a strong amount of ambition in you. You want to rage against what everyone thinks about you. You urge the desire to prove every single one of them wrong. Beneath that small exterior lies a huge fighting spirit. A fighting spirit which will take you farther than most Boos have gone."

Boollivan covered his eyes and shook his entire spherical body. "Oh, stop it," he chided. "You're just trying to butter me up. You're just trying to make me feel better while nothing would ever change with the other boos opinions about me."

"We're not," said Booginia. "We really mean it. You can't quit. You can't give in—not now. Your moment's coming, and when it does..." she paused for a moment to let it sink in, "everything's gonna fall into place. We all have a true purpose. We all have a turning point in our own life story. Yours will make more sense in the coming future."

Boollivan pulled his appendages away from his face. "We believe in you, Boollivan," smiled Boomer. "We may have just met, but we believe in you."

"Even so - you shouldn't continue alone," added Boolieve. "You shouldn't be too worried to ask for help especially if you severely need it."

"Sometimes, it pays to have friends," said Boogene. "Friendship is what brought all fifteen of us together."

"So I heard you all are outcasts too? What happened to caused that?

"Well... We weren't always outcasts. We once lived in the tower with the others. All fifteen of us were even chosen to be dipped in the cauldron. The Boonstructor always told us that boos must bathe in the waters of the cauldron one by one, but our friendship was stronger than that. We refused to go in the cauldron until all of us were able to go in together. Eventually the King allowed it but at first it seemed the magic cauldron didn't work on us, so the Boonstructor thought that either the cauldron itself didn't work  for us or it was ineffective when we were in it together.

However, before the King and the Boonstructor could choose other boos to dip in the cauldron, the Broomies attacked! But we weren't strong enough to defend our territory. Afterwards, we didn't want to show our faces to the king or the Boonstructor again since we failed them so we hid ourselves from the others deep in the forest of Boo Woods to avoid detection from anyone boo ever since. But quite recently, we found out that the magic cauldron did work on all of us but for a completely different ability. An ability that brought us all together... as one!" Booster explained.

The fourteen other boos formed around Booster. They all began to form a large white mist and once it dissipated, a large boo with yellow glowing eyes took its place.

"We call our new form... Boolossus!"
________________________________
There's the origin story of Boolossus! I wanted to put Boolossus in this story in an interesting way and I think making them the original 15 boos who didn't know what their special ability actually were works perfectly. Also making them where they refused to go in the magic cauldron one by one showed how strong they valued their strong friendship together.

Today is the 69th birthday of Charles Martinet! Who is the original voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi. Happy Birthday to my most favorite video game voice actor!

I wanted to update Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon today but it would take too long to update so I decided to update this since I also haven't updated this in a while either.

More updates will be coming soon for this story in October. I hope you enjoyed this chapter on this special day.  ^U^

My birthday is in 10 years on the 27th, so hopefully I can update something then as well.
