Chapter 1
The Haunted Tower in Boo Woods may have appeared small from the outside but inside of it, was a huge building. Of course, it was built to give shelter to more than one-hundred boo occupants, so it was required to have many rooms, amongst other things to entertain the boos.
One boo was hovering around in his dormitory room. He materialized a large purple book in front of him. He quickly turned through the pages until he found the page he was searching for. "This illusion doesn't look too hard to master, maybe I should try this one!" The boo said to himself. The boo raised his small appendages in front of him and closed his eyes tightly. A gray substance began to form in front of him, it began to grow for a moment before it suddenly began to dissipate, grow and then disappear entirely. The boo groaned in frustration. "I almost had it this time!" He tutted.
A voice started to reach him. "What are you doing, Boollivan?" Another boo similar in appearance to him revealed himself beside him, surprising Boollivan. "B-Booligan! Don't you ever sneak up on me like that again!" Boollivan scolded.
Booligan was his best friend and one of the only boos Boollivan trusted. Hence why he chose him to be his dorm roommate. Boollivan was always treated as the outcast of the Haunt Booniversity. He was a slow learner and was behind in class. In spite of that, Boollivan was still a very intelligent boo overall and aced on every test he took, except for one problem. It was a major talent that every boo needed to learn that he was lacking in: the ability to cast illusions.
Illusions were what made a boo who they were. It was what made a boo different from the rest. There were never two boos that were alike. They may have all looked the same, but every boo had a different personality and skill. Illusions properly defined their personalities but perhaps Boollivan was just a late bloomer. That's what he thought anyway. Maybe there was a reason for him being a late bloomer to learn illusions, but Boollivan wasn't too sure what it was quite yet.
Booligan was the only one that accepted him as a true boo that had potential to be one of the best ever. Even if Boollivan wasn't sure himself, he respected Booligan for believing in him.
Booligan laughed, tongue lolling out in pleasure. "Sorry for sneaking up on you like that. It's just in our nature. Working on more illusions, I reckon? How's it coming along."
Boollivan sighed in dismay. "Same as always... I try to accomplish something and it keeps failing. I don't know what I'm going to show off tomorrow at show and tell. If I don't have any illusion to show again, I'm going to be made fun of further. Once we graduate, I'm more than likely not going to be the one picked to defend our woods from the Broomies..." the boo frowned, his beady eyes gazing at the floor.
"Hey cheer up, Boollivan! You'll get there eventually. We still have time until graduation. Don't beat yourself up. All you need is a little confidence and I'm sure you can do an amazing illusion. You just gotta believe in yourself. The reason why your illusions are failing, might be because you don't have a positive attitude towards it. Your illusion knows what you're feeling. Be more confident that you can do it and I'm sure it'll come out for you." Booligan advised.
Boollivan turned his attention to his friend, his eyes lit up. "Thanks Booligan! I can always count on you to make me feel better!"
"Not a problem, Boollivan. I'm certain that you can pull off one of the best illusions and knock those cruel boos dead." Booligan replied with a huge toothy grin plastered on his face. "Come with me. There are other boos, treated like outcasts that I'd like you to meet. Maybe you could try practicing with them."
"I-I don't know if that's such a good idea. What if they don't accept me?" Boollivan asked, hesitantly.
"I have a strong feeling they will accept anyone in their group," Booligan answered.
"S-sure I guess..." he replied.
Booligan grabbed his friend's hand and together the two boos phased through the door of their dorm room into the long hallways. Not looking where he was going, Boollivan accidentally bumped into another boo. He was a larger, more buffer boo, who gave the unfortunate smaller boo who foolishly bumped into him a defiant scowl. "Hey, watch where you're going, dumb boo!"
"S-sorry, Booruce!" Boollivan mumbled with a troubled face.
"S-sorry!" Booruce mocked him. "You're such a little runt! You even act like one! How can you call yourself a boo when you're not even that intimidating with your small size!"
"I am too! I'll show you how strong I can be one day!" Boollivan replied, trying to hover up above the air. "A true boo never shows any fragility or weakness! A boo stays strong no matter how difficult it may seem! I will not back down!"
Booruce hovered forward, shoving his face into Boollivan's face, growling in raw anger. "You think you're so tough, tiny!"
A deep voice boomed from the shadows without warning. "That is enough bickering from you two! Now, knock it off and get back into your dorms! You don't want to see any more of this nonsense! You wouldn't want to disappoint our fair King, do you?!"
"N-no sir... Apologies for the inconvenience, Mr. Boonstructor!" Booruce and Boollivan quickly apologized. The two boos backed away from each other and went back into their rooms but not before they quickly shot an angry glare at one another. Booligan followed Boollivan into their room. "He was the one that started the argument first not you. It was only an accident that you bumped into him." Booligan said.
"I know... One day, Booruce will regret treating me like I'm worthless!"
"I really hope so! He needs to chill out! He's such a hot head; so full of himself." Booligan grumbled.
"Maybe I could be one of the most important boos in the world. That's what I wish for atleast. That way the boos that wrongfully treated me would regret it."
"You have a mighty big wish there, but I hope you succeed on getting all the way to the top, Boollivan. I have a feeling you will be as great of a boo as perhaps the king maybe."
"The king?! Are you sure?"
"Well... Yeah! I'm that confident in you. You've been my best friend since we were Mini boos."
"Me? As a King? That opportunity comes only once in a purple moon."
"That's true but I have a strange feeling that you could be one of those boos worthy of such a title." Booligan replied, with a wide smile on his face. "Maybe the other's will think so too. I'm sorry I couldn't introduce you to them tonight but I'm positive we'll be able to after school tomorrow."
"I guess we have to wait until tomorrow then." Boollivan agreed. His mind wandered back to the thought of him being King as he laid down in his bed. "One day they will fear me! They will all fear me! For now, they look down at me but things will change! And they will have no choice but to look up to me!"
***
Later that night, Boollivan couldn't sleep at all. He continued to lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling blankly. He was still thinking about what his reign would be like if he really did become the king of the boos. The thought kept lingering in his mind, refusing to leave.
Eventually, his eyes grew heavy and he finally drifted off to sleep. He dreamed about him in a mansion, wearing a large jeweled crown. All the boos looked up to him with eyes full of excitement as the boos cheered out his name. "All hail King Boollivan!" They chanted. He noticed that the other boos were smaller than him. He was the largest boo now! He stood there proudly, tongue lolling out. A deep low chuckle came out from his mouth.
The peaceful air then turned hostile all of a sudden, when the expressions changed from the boos around him. Their faces went from joyful to fearful. A silhouette of a human appeared on the wall. Boollivan could barely see what was going on with all the boos struggling to escape something. All he knew that it was something threatening. "Wh-what is going on?!" He felt a sudden gust of wind before...
Boollivan's eyes shot open and he gasped in alarm. He was awake in his dorm room, safe from the nightmare that plagued him. "What was that?!" Boollivan questioned. He felt the gust of wind blow into his face again and he turned to see that the window next to him, burst open from the strong breeze. He hovered to the window and slowly but firmly shut it as quiet as he could as to not make too much noise to avoid waking his roommate.
However, he heard a small groan from the other side of the room, Booligan woke up from the sudden disruption of his nap. "What is it, Boollivan?"
"It's nothing. It's just that the window opened."
"But I thought I heard a gasp though?"
"I-I just had a nightmare. That's all!" Boollivan quickly replied.
"What kind of nightmare?" Booligan replied with another question.
"I'm not particularly sure... That's the problem. I don't know how to explain it... But it felt so real!"
Booligan yawned, rubbing his tired eyes. "Don't worry! It was just a nightmare. I'm sure it's nothing serious to worry about."
"I guess... But something seemed off about it..." Boollivan muttered, anxiously.
Not receiving an answer, Boollivan turned around to see his friend and roommate fast asleep again. He sighed as an attempt to calm himself. "Maybe it really wasn't a cause for concern then... I'll just take his word for it. Perhaps, I'm just paranoid." Boollivan laid back down and soon enough went back to sleep again.

Finally finished this chapter. Another late update than I wanted to put it out but I hope you enjoyed. ^U^ More will be coming soon...
I hope everyone had a great Halloween and got loads of candy.
Was Boollivan's nightmare really not something that he should be worried about or was it a vision trying to warn him of what was to come? Will he get the hang of using illusions? Find out what happens next when Haunt continues. I'm unsure when the next update will be for sure but whenever I plan to release it, I'll let you know.
Apologies for the very late update. It was supposed to come out on Halloween but I both got busy and procrastinated a little bit. ^^'
