~×2×~

."-Ka-chan... Aka-chan... Aka-chan!"

I opened my eyes slightly to see Sara... With a cinnamon roll on a small plate.
I smiled and got up from my sleeping position. "Good job my child. We'll eat it after breakfast. For now, just act normal in front of Tsu-chan."

I grabbed her hand and we both walked to the small dining room together.

As always, it was chaotic.

Everyone was already seated and eating their breakfast, but I was ready to burst out laughing at the sight in front of me. 'Tsu-chan', being the adorable teen he is, was frantically looking around for his precious sweet roll.

Now, I may not be a big fan of sweets, but I still do like things like pastries. Its just candies, taffys, and stuff like that I dont like.

Tsukiya is a whole different situation though. His rule is, in quotes, "A true man must never discriminate any sweets of any sort. If it does ever happen, he will have to undergo any punishment recieved by the gods (A.K.A me)." In other words, he has a major sweet tooth.

I looked down at Sara and saw she was trembling. I knelt down and said, "Are you okay? Is something wrong Sara?"

She nodded and said, "Its just to funny to watch. I mean, he's even asking Aya-chan."

I smiled and reminded her we had to act normal.

Breakfast went by smoothly, despite all the children talking and making chaos.

I told Sara to go upstairs and wait for me while Tsukiya and I help clean up.

"Tsukiya, stop moping and help me out," i said irritated while drinking the last bit of my orange juice.

"But... Someone took my sweetroll," he said with teary eyes.

I spit out my orange juice in the sink and said, "Skyrim... You just... You just quoted a line in Skyrim! Im so happy!"

"Haha, still havent played that game yet," he nervously said.

"Damn you. Getting my hopes up for nothing..."

Hiyori walked in and started doing the dishes. "Akane... Were... Going to have to talk after we clean up," she said with a bit of a depressed tone.

"Eh, just me?" She nodded. "Okay... I guess..."

I looked over to Tsukiya and he looked just as confused as me. We continued cleaning in silence with the occasional sigh.

Many thoughts were running through my head at the time. 'Am i in trouble? Am i getting adopted? Am i getting kicked out?'

After the long, agonizing 30 minutes of cleaning. Hiyori called me in her office where only the adopted kids go. I was starting to get more nervous now to the point where i was trembling a bit. 'If i get adopted... Whats going to happen to Sara? Tsukiya too?'

I lightly knocked and heard, "Come in" from the inside.

I cautiously went inside, as though there were hidden bombs all over the room. "Come take a seat, Akane... Sakamaki..."

My mind went blank. Everything I felt at the time, all my happy memories, dissappered. That one name, was my fear. My nightmares all in one.

"Eh."

"Umm... well, you've been adopted into the Sakamaki family. I wanted to tell you earlier, but I couldn't bring myself to say it..."

"Wait... let me process all this..." My mind was remembering all the horrors I had with them. I was starting to feel dizzy and my vision was getting hazy.

"The person who adopted you said he wants you to go there tonight," she choked out as if she was about to cry.

"Who exactly adopted me?" I said, trying to keep my fear hidden.

"I'm sorry... He... or she, said not to tell you. If you want, you can start packi-"

"No! Akane can't leave! Not with those people!" The door slammed open revealing Tsukiya.

"Tsukiya?" I said confused.

I stood up and suddenly felt nasaus. I stumbled, but luckily Tsukiya caught me before I hit the floor.

"Akane! Are you okay?" He asked with worry.

I heard a chair hit the floor. "Is she okay?! What's wrong?!"

"Tsukiya... please, please, don't leave me with them... don't leave me," I choked out, tears threatening to fall.

"Of course. I'll always be with you. Those demons will never hurt you again," he whispered as I held onto his shirt hiding my crying face. "Hiyori-san... I'm sorry, but... I'm not leaving Akane. I don't care if you say I can't go, I'll find a wa-"

"You can go with her."

"Eh?"

"You didn't think, that after all these years you guys were together, that I would separate you? It took some convincing, but they said it was okay," I heard her say.

I faced her when I stopped crying and said, "Thank you, Hiyori."

She sighed and said,"I've told you, call me 'mom'."

I didn't respond. "What time are we going to be picked up?" Tsukiya asked.

"He said to be ready at 7pm. I asked him why it was so late, but he just said he wanted it to be a surprise in the morning."

"Tch... what are we? Christmas presents?" I mumbled, earning a smile from Tsukiya.

"Well, we're going to start packing then. Thank you for taking care of us for so long," Tsukiya said bowing.

I left before she could respond and went to my room.

When I got there, I had to face an angry Sara.

"I've been waiting for 2 hours..." she said tapping her foot with an annoyed tone.

"Haha... sorr-AH!"

Sara was grabbing my ear the way your mom would when your in trouble.

"Ow, ow, oww..." she dragged me to the bed and sat me down.

"Don't you need to tell me something?" She asked in a voice that I've never heard before.

"Umm... sorry...?"

"An~d?"

"...did you figure out I stole your apples?... I'm sorry! I couldn't help myself. It was just sitting there... mocking me..."

"No-but you're going to tell me about that later.... We're you seriously not going to tell me?" She said, her eyes watering.

"Eh? Sara, did I did do something?" I asked, my voice laced with worry.

"Yes! You did, but I won't tell you what. I can't believe you wouldn't tell me something so important as this!" She yelled as tears fell from her cheeks.

She ran out of the room shutting the door behind her, causing a loud slam to resonate within the room. There was an uncomfortable silence in the room as I was trying to figure out what she was talking about.

"Hey, I just saw Sa-" I pushed past Tsukiya just as he opened the door.

'Shit... she overheard our conversation with Hiyori.'

I ran out the house, through the small garden, and started towards the woods. 'Where could she be?!'

I ran past the trees Tsukiya, Sara and I all use to play on, trudging through the perfect snow, until I saw a fresh pair of footprints.

I went towards them and followed them up a hill. I was starting to recognize the place and wondered why I didn't even think of here.

This area on top of the hill was so special because of sooo many reasons, like how this spot was where only Sara and I go, or how beautiful it is. I swear, this place could be my heaven.

On the very top of the hill, it was guarded by cherry blossoms with a pond that covers half of the top while the rest is land. It was decorated with the most beautiful flowers and during winter it would be filled with snow and the water would be frozen stiff. Sara and I even learned to ice skate on it.

I reached the top and saw Sara sitting in a dry spot by the water. She was crying and didn't have a jacket on.

I quickly ran to her yelling, "Sara!"

She looked up surprised and tried to quickly wipe her tears away.

I was beside her and said, "Don't do that. It's going to hurt more if you use your sleeve."

"Hmph..." she looked the opposite direction I was in and crossed her arms.

I sighed and said, "You know... I use to cry here when I was small too." 'Great, I'm going into my whole life story now. I might just put her to sleep.'

This caught he attention and she slightly looked at me as if to continue.

"When I first came here, I was only 6 years old. It was very scary for me because before that, I didn't belong anywhere. I didn't have a good family, food, warmth, safety. I felt hopeless and unnecessary in life. Haha, hell, I even tried to kill myself... that didn't work out though... I suffuered a lot, until your 'mother', Hiyori found me and took me in. I was one of the first few kids here when I came. To me, it was scary being in a completely different place and being in a safe place."

I looked over and saw she was intently listening. I draped my coat over her shoulders real quick and continued with my story.

"Even after 2 to 3 months, I didn't feel safe. So, I started exploring the area here and found this place. When I first got here, it looked like a complete dump to me. I wasn't able to see the beauty in things anymore and saw the world in a completely different way than you probably did. Even though I thought this place was a dump, I still came here... it was like I was drawn to it and I couldn't stop thinking about it. I started to have nightmares often and would sneak out here to just calm down, but instead of calming down, I cried. Sometimes I would cry myself to sleep and go back to the house to see Hiyori running around like a crazy chicken... I started to sneak out more often to go here and that's when I found out that you could see a bu~nch of stars in the sky here. I was always jealous of the stars sometimes. I felt like they were somewhere up there being free and unique unlike me who was chained to the floor and depressed." I paused for a bit to take a breath.

"What were your nightmares about?" Sara asked suddenly.

"Eh? You wanna know about that?" I asked a bit suprised.

She nodded and I just mumbled, "Well... just about people leaving me and stuff..."

I decided to leave out my brothers and all that drama, just so she doesn't start asking questions.

"Eh? Are you scared someone's going to leave you?"

Just by this question, my breathing started to quicken as I thought of the people who left me and the possibilities of more people leaving me.

"I guess... dont tell anyone though," I said pinching her cheeks.

"Ah-kay! Wet go!" She said, trying to take my hands off her cheeks.

I stood up and said, "Let's go back now before it gets colder. You made me chase you out here for a stupid reason."

"Hey! It's not stupid! I still don't forgive you either!" She yelled standing up.

In a swift movement, I picked her up and put her on my back.

"Come on, you don't think I would rather go to some rich people's house than stay with you right? Even though I'll be away, just remember I'll be under the same sky. I'm always with you Sara, even if I'm a hundred miles away," I said trying to reassure her.

She buried her head in my hair and clutched onto my neck. "You better not be lying..."

I laughed and we headed back home together. When we got there, Tsukiya was waiting for us at the door with a smile on his face.

"Wipe that grin off your face. You look like a clown," I said bluntly.

"Haha, you're just so cute when you're around children. It's like your actually an innocent person instead of a sarcastic, bipolar teenager," he said still smiling.

"Haha, do you want an early death wish?" I said returning the smile.

"Haha, of course not. You wouldn't be able to live without me," he said still remaining calm.

"Haha, I wonder about that."

Our conversation continued just like that until we reached our rooms.

"Well, I'll meet you out here at 6:30," I stated.

He nodded and we both started packing our stuff in our small suitcases.

I looked at the clock and saw it was already 4:30 when I started packing. 'Man, time sure does go by fast when you're about to go to hell.'

I packed some clothes and shoes in my suitcase and started to put some other necessities in my backpack.

I grabbed my art supplies, the PSvita I got for my birthday, blank sheet music, my camer, and some lady things like... pads... 'well, that's gonna suck... having my period.'

I looked around and saw a photo of me, Tsukiya, and Sara in the forest. Sara was sitting on a branch smiling, Tsukiya was leaning against the tree like some wanna-be-cool-boy, and I was wrestling with Aya to get in the photo.

I smiled and folded the photo. I put it neatly in my bag and did a final check on my side of the room. Sara was sleeping soundly on my bed holding her stuffed dog. She started snoring and I chuckled.

I looked at the clock and it was already 5:45. 'Still have some time. Might as well visit Aya.'

I took my luggage downstairs and set it by the door.

I walked around looking for Aya, until I saw her tail around the corner in the kitchen.

I stealthily tiptoed toward her and quickly grabbed her tail.

She jumped and growled when she saw me.

"Aren't you the cutest thing ever~" I said patting her head.

She tried to bite me, but I was too fast for her. "You know... I'm gonna miss our little 'chats'," I said sitting down.

As a response, she growled and layed on my lap.

"I take it that you're gonna miss me too?"

She turned her head away, but I saw her tail wagging back and forth.

I laughed and we played together until Tsukiya came down with his suit cases.

The first thing I said to him was, "Are you a girl or something?"

"And what makes you say that, Aka-chan," and asked setting his luggage beside mine.

"Well, because normally, boys don't take a whole 2 hours to pack their things," I said gesturing towards his bags.

"And normally girls don't take their best friends food when their not looking."

"Psh... everyone does that.... Wait, how did you find out?" I asked suprised.

"Not everyone and Sara told me. She said, 'Just know it wasn't my idea. Akane-neesan forced me to do it. She said that if I didnt, she would take away my stuffed animals'," he said imitating a little girls voice.

"That little traitor... well, it's you're fault for leaving your sweet roll unattended," I said now standing up.

"But, I was watching my sweet roll... until I left it to go to the bathroom...I-....I-I.... I-Im sorry for what I did! Please, forgive me Kamisama!" He got om his knees and was bowing low.

'Oh~, this is new... This is gonna be fu~n...'

He looked up waiting for an answer and I said, "Since it was a small mistake, you only have to give me your pastries for a month."

He looked a bit heartbroken, but nodded.

"You guys ready?" Hiyori asked in her usual calm voice.

We nodded and I noticed her eyes were starting to water. "Make sure to keep this place in order. We're going to come back someday..." I said hoping to make her feel a bit better.

She smiled and I heard and car pull up by the house.

Tsukiya and I looked out the window and saw a black limousine. Tsukiya whistled and said, "Looks like your brothers are gonna spoil you..."

"Yeah... If my blood doesn't spoil first."

He chuckled nervously and we took our suitcases outside by the car.

A person in a butler outfit came out and opened the trunk. He tool our suitcases and silently put our suitcases in the back.

He opened the door for us to get in. I turned around and saw Hiyori was crying now.

Tsukiya and I both had the same idea and we hugged her at the same time. She hugged us both tightly and said, "M-make sure you come and visit... remember that you're always welcome here..."

We said our goodbyes and got in the car.

Just as it started moving, Sara come running out and started chasing the car.

I quickly rolled down the window and Tsukiya and I poked our heads out.

"Aka-chan! Tsu-chan! Make sure you come back! I don't care if your half alive when you get here, just come visit! Also, make sure to bring me a souvenir! " Sara yelled still running.

"Okay! Tell Aya-chan that I'll bring her back a bone!... of a vampire..."

"Stay safe Sara! You better not have a boyfriend by the time I get back!" Tsukiya stated.

"See ya later~!" I saw Sara was crying by now and stopped running.

I felt like crying as well, but just said, "See ya!" along with Tsukiya.

Little did I know... that would be the last time I would see her...
