Starting A New Life

It has been a month since the whole incident. For a while Izaya enjoyed being with Shizuo, taking care of him, as well as his sisters. Shizuo felt the same, happy that he had someone who cared about him, and that he had an excuse to not work. Right now, it was eight in the morning. Shizuo has finally recovered from his bullet wound and was in the bathroom, getting ready to start his first day of work in a long time.

Shizuo's P.O.V.

"There, that'll do." I mumbled. My bowtie was a bit crooked and my hair wasn't groomed well, but I didn't care. I stepped out and sighed, going downstairs. Izaya was typing on the computer. He looked up at me and smiled.

"Morning Shizu-chan!" he said.

"Morning." I mumbled. I noticed there wasn't any annoying sound of his twin sisters chattering.

"The girls at school already?" I asked. Izaya stood up and strolled over to me.

"Yep, you just missed them." He said. He frowned slightly and sighed.

"Shizu-chan, its your first day back at work and your going like that?" he said annoyed. Izaya adjusted my tie and gave his hand a small lick, then smoothed back most of my hair. I sneered.

"Hey, cut it out! Its fine!" I said, whacking his hand away. Izaya smirked and chuckled. Then as his eyes gazed at my outfit, he frowned. I looked at him concerned.

"Izaya?" I said. He stepped closer to me, laying his head on my chest. He ran his hand over where I was shot.

"Are you really feeling good enough Shizuo?" Izaya asked. I knew that whenever he didn't call me by my nickname that he was serious. I rubbed the top of his head.

"I told you Izaya, I'm alright. Really. I promise." I stated. Izaya looked up at me.

"Remember what we talked about." he said. I nodded.

"Right, be careful, no fights if I can, and call for emergencies. I'll remember, but the same thing goes for you too." I stated. Izaya nodded.

"I know." he said. I smiled and kissed his forehead. He blushed slightly.

"I'll be back at five." I said. Izaya nodded. I pulled away and started to walk to the door. I looked back at him and smiled.

"Love you." I said. He smiled.

"Love you too." he said. Izaya held up my cigarette box and lighter.

"That's why I snagged these back." he said.

"Dammit!" I snapped. I thought I his those good enough.

"I'll find out from Tom if you buy more." Izaya stated. He smirked. I sighed and left the building.

Izaya's P.O.V.

I watched as Shizuo left the building from my window. Then I plopped onto my chair and looked around on the chat room. I heard my door open and close.

"Morning Izaya." Namie said.

"Good morning Namie." I said. She sat at the couch and placed her labtop on the table.

"Try not to over work. I didn't give you much to do today." I said. She and I had a good friendship going on. She was a big help, especially with caring about my sisters since I didn't really know how to raise two teenage girls.

"Thanks." Namie said. When I saw no one was on the chatroom I started to glance over some news on the web. I frowned when I kept reading over the warehouse incident, how Shizuo got shot. Flashbacks of that day came back to me.

Me screaming at that man to shoot me.

Shizuo jumping in front of me.

Shizuo collapsing onto the ground.....

All the blood.....

"Izaya!" Namie said, placing her hand on mine. My eyes widened and I looked to see my hands were so tightly clenched into fists that my nails dug into my skin, drawing a bit of blood. I unclenched them and frowned. Namie gave me a concerned look.

"Izaya, what's wrong?" she asked. I looked back at the computer screen and got off Google, and instead went to YouTube.

"Nothing." I stated. Namie crossed her arms.

"That wasn't nothing." she stated.

"Please get back to work." I said. Namie sighed and went back to her lab top. I merely stared blankly at my screen.

"They say it isn't easy to move on, they weren't kidding." I thought, feeling the guilt weigh down on me.
