Chapter 9:: Deserved

Author's POV:

"This?" You asked, eyeing the dress the staff showed. You shook your head.
"Too revealing.."
"Too... short?"
"This is see-through."
"Is there anything modest?"

Taehyung, who sat there just stared at you, played with his fingers. He was kind of— amused. Your choice in the outfit was modest and pastel, colourful. He sort of expected it from your personality but you seemed— a little different than what he had thought.

You took a few dresses and looked at him who said, "Get a gown as well, an evening gown."
"You're paying?"
You asked. He nodded with an obvious shrug. You smirked internally and said, "Then... I'd like everything from here to here."
"All of those?"
The staff asked as you nodded.
"Thanks, kidnapper." You said, scoffing at Taehyung who got up from his seat, standing beside you.

He stared at you in disbelief but smirked saying, "You're welcome, sweetheart."
A frown made its way on your face as you scoffed, shrugging it off. He was playing along, knowing well what you were planning. He saw the room service receipt and he knew, you were trying all ways to make him suffer.
"Ma'am, should we show you the evening gown?" You nodded, glancing at Taehyung who looked normal.

He should've been pissed and should've asked you not to go anywhere with him. Why wasn't he bothered? Now— that bothered you.

"How about this?" The staff asked, showing a green one. Before you could answer, Taehyung spoke, "No." What a deep voice he has— Anyway, no, that's not the point.
You just stared at the staff saying, "Nothing too revealing for that."
"Who are you to decide?" You asked, frowning. He just sighed and shook his head.
"I'll take this one." You said, holding a burgundy gown. It was satin and off-shoulder with a thigh slit. Yeah— you chose that.

"You shouldn't buy that." He said, pressing his lips.
"I like to do the opposite of what you tell me." You said showing him a tight fake smile before saying, "I want this."
God— you had the nerves. He just raised his brows saying, "If you like being stubborn, then you must like the rewards for it as well."
"Pack them all."
He said and walked out. You frowned and looked at the gown.
"Hah... it's probably going to be an evening party, who cares?" You scoffed and walked out, behind him who seemed pretty blank.

You looked at the receipt in his hand and slightly peeked there just to gasp loudly catching everyone's attention. $3490 of shopping. Yeah, you did that. You looked at him before looking at the receipt, pretending like you were okay. You expected the bill to be $200 dollars but it went over a thousand dollars. Your heart was hurting right now. Not for him, for the holy economy of your entire life. You never shopped that much in your life regardless of how much money you had.

And you broke that record— with your kidnapper's money.

"Umm. Oh, it's expensive." You said, trying to sound cool. Taehyung smirked a little and said, "I believe my wallet's the one suffering right now but you seem like the one in pain."
"W-What? Of course not! Hah... I would've bought more. I just spared you." You said and looked away. You were feeling bad right now. No, not for him— anything but him. You were feeling bad for something but not him. Yeah— that's the best way to put it.

"Deserved for kidnapping me." You said scoffing. But the lump in your throat didn't die.
"Kidnapping you and spending over a thousand dollars for your shopping, yeah... deserved." He said, raising his brows. You could see the fed-up look on his face. You felt satisfied somewhere, he was in pain actually.
Who cared if he was rich? He still suffered to pay, didn't h—
"Here." He handed his credit card as you gulped. He was actually paying. You frowned.
Shouldn't he exclude a few dresses or at least ask? He definitely knew you bought like 10 dresses without even knowing how they looked.

As the cashier was swiping the card, the raven-haired guy beside you smirked and leaned in close to your ear, whispering, " 'Kill em with kindness' is my slogan, sweetheart."
Your heart dropped to your stomach as you stood there. Your blood was boiling. You were supposed to win this, you were supposed to make HIM suffer. But instead, he was winning. You felt like a loser despite your efforts of making him suffer. You hated this, you hated him.

You glared at him before looking away, the uneasy feeling not leaving your heart. He noticed how your blue eyes showed anger and rage, stubbornness and embarrassment.

Soon, you both were in the car. It was 10 pm right now. You just sat there, looking out of the window.
Taehyung looked at you and then at the space between you too. 2 people could easily fit there. You were sticking to the other side of the door, making sure to be feet away from him but the car wasn't that narrow— your bad.

"So dramatic." He muttered under his breath, sighing. You narrowed your eyes at him, sure that he said something about you. But you didn't want to talk to him so you just looked outside through the window. New York City was lit up at night. The buildings and pubs everywhere, restaurants and malls, shops here and there. People were all roaming around and then there was the traffic.

You raised your head, shifting a little once every while looking outside.
"Woah.." You said, seeing a man with a huge bamboo stick crossing the road. Taehyung looked at you. He noticed how your blue eyes were shimmering under the beautiful lights of New York. He realized how you looked at everything with a look which felt alive and bright other than him. He let out an emotionless smirk, acknowledging that your hate for him wasn't ordinary hate, you despised him— your looks and actions said it all.

—Time skip

You looked at the food in front of you. Pizza, cola, fries and chicken— looked good. But as your gaze went up, you saw Taehyung sitting there, scrolling his phone.
"We can eat at the hotel."
"You ordered all these."
"Because you told me to."
"Then eat?"

You sighed and said, "Hey, look. I don't want to e-"

You stopped. You didn't continue any further seeing him look up at you with icy cold eyes. No, you weren't scared. You just didn't want him to disown you in the middle of the unknown city. You sighed and rolled your eyes, looking at the food.
He just shook his head, thinking something. Definitely something bad about you, it showed on his face— so obviously? But could you say anything? No. Why? Probably because you just didn't have the energy or maybe something else.

Moreover, what you did today was already traumatizing enough. Well, you weren't guilty for him— just for... you? The money? Yeah. It was money, the economy that you spent. Doesn't matter whoever's it was. Or maybe yeah, you were a little- just a little guilty to him for spending that huge amount of money. It was indeed not a good job. That's why you weren't even insulting him for the past few hours.
And he was right, he won. Maybe you would've just bothered him more or mocked him if he didn't buy those for you. In that case, you'd win but he did— he bought all those dresses costing $3490.

One thing was now sure to you, if you were a fox then he was the leader of the foxes.

You were staring at him while biting your nails and wondering. You couldn't help but realize how he always got on your nerves. He had to do nothing, just he— his existence was enough to make your blood boil.
"Are you planning to eat the food or me?" He asked, his gaze holding yours now. You immediately put your hands down and scoffed, looking away.
"Shut up." You rolled your eyes and focused on the food. He sighed before smirking slightly, looking at the food.

"That disgusting smirk makes my appetite disappear." You whispered under your breath as he felt his lips twitch seeing your sulky face.

—Conrad New York Midtown, Manhattan

You groaned and sat on the couch, feeling tired but your back straightened seeing the raven-haired guy walking into the washroom.
"Gosh, I'm sharing a suite with him. And an apartment?" You rolled your eyes. Thankfully the house had 2 beds. No, not a rom-com movie, it wasn't one. And God saved you!
You sat on one of the beds, taking off your bracelet and keeping it on the nightstand beside.

A few minutes later, Taehyung came out, glanced at you and said, "Don't come near my bed. I hate being close to other people when I sleep."
You just scoffed before saying, "Then you should've let me sleep in a single room."
"You would've escaped from the windows."
"I would have no-" "You would have."

He sounded so sure. You played with your lips for a while trying to form words but gave up, scoffing. That was the only response you could give to him. He was ironic, really ironic. And annoying.

You just stomped into the washroom as he stood there, near his bed. He didn't really care about how annoying you had been acting ever since you both started for New York.

You just stared at yourself in the mirror and wondered how much patience he could keep. For a moment, you were questioning yourself. Why did you actually hate him that much? For those 2 days of torture? But he did make up for those by treating you well for the next days though he never apologized for a thing.
But were you that big of a grudgeholder to go to such challenging extents? You didn't know.

But for now, you hated everything caused by him and you hated him. And you were sure you'd hate him in the future too. You had to.

No matter how saint he acted or how many times he won the challenges and made you the loser, you wouldn't give up. Your hate for him was pure. Pure hate. And you would make sure he'd never forget this hate. He deserved it, for everything he did. He deserves all of it.
