Chapter 26:: Forgiveness
Author's POV:
35 days. It was now way better than your 5th day here. You still feel like it was yesterday that you were here, crying in this bedroom all day. You were used to this now. All these luxurious furniture and unnecessary equipment are kept here and there for no reason. And so many unknown faces. You kind of recognized the maids and chefs by now. But they were on vacation and you risked forgetting their faces again.
But 3 faces. 3 faces were impossible to forget. It took just a month of seeing those faces constantly until they were carved at the back of your head.
Taehyung, Jo and Azure.
They were the only ones you interacted with in your life now. A small circle with 4. A small group, full of hate and doubt. Complete chaos and bickering, no trust, no love, no care. Nothing. It was how you had defined your life and this little group of 4 by now.
But from some point, you forgave them. You had your phone now. And you often checked the photos and videos on your phone which reminded you of your life, the life which stopped 35 days ago.
Honestly, you had an experience. A heck of an experience.
"Look, this is my best friend and he is her boyfrien- oops, now husband! It's been 35 days since they were married. They were supposed to go to the Maldives for their honeymoon. I wonder if they've gone yet." You said to Azure who stared at the phone screen. She meowed and tried to hold the phone as you sighed.
"I wonder how they're doing right now. Only if I could hear their voices... just once. At least, knowing how they are would help me, you know." You said sadly. A sigh escaped your lips again, your eyes getting teary. You missed your best friend.
"Do you miss her that much?" You heard a deep voice, making a shiver run down your spine. Gosh, that was so random and sudden! Shocking enough.
You turned your head around to see Taehyung walking towards you and Azure who was sitting on a sofa in the living room. Tilting his head, he looked at the picture of you and your best friend, posing in a photo. Both of you joined your hands above your heads to make a heart.
"Childish." He frowned and shook his head as you scoffed saying, "Shut up, annoying b*stard."
B*stard. It was how you addressed him these days. Especially when his words annoyed you.
"It's cute." Another soft voice was heard as you looked up to see the same bald head from before. Jo.
He smiled a little saying, "It's kinda cute. Only if Mr Kim agreed to pose for these types of photos. I'd hang it above my bed."
You stared at Jo weirdly as Taehyung heaved out a deep, long sigh. He was fed up with the ideas Jo was talking about. You found the idea funny.
The idea of a statue like him—posing to such a cute and wholesome heart? Impossible. The thought was crazy.
You silently laughed as Taehyung noticed you, his brow raising.
"Stop laughing." He ordered but who listened?
"It'd be funny, right?" Jo asked, his teeth visible due to the toothy grin he showed. You nodded, finally bursting into a fit of laughter along with Jo.
"Him... in t-that pose? HAHAHA!" You were laughing loudly, tears forming in your eyes due to laughter. Jo whispered, "That rocky face with that hearty pose... gosh, no!"
"It was your idea!" You complained, wiping your eyes.
Taehyung stared at you both, completely irritated. His huge deep frown was visible on his face. Azure was meowing. She probably found the thought funny as well.
"You both are not getting any devices today. Stay grounded." Taehyung's cold voice echoed around the room as both you and Jo stopped.
"No! My Netflix!"
"My Facebook..."
"You use Facebook?" You frowned at Jo who said, "Only to watch some hilarious mukbangs where they eat like.. 500 eggs at once."
"You're really a mafia?"
"I saw Mr Kim cringing at those one da-"
"Shut up," Taehyung spoke again. You both looked at him before looking at each other.
You thinned your lips and nodded, turning around.
"But I need Netflix."
"Dream about it," Taehyung said as you opened your mouth to complain but stopped, a pout taking place on your face. You sulked, looking down, cursing him mentally as Jo sighed saying, "I shouldn't talk."
"You really shouldn't." You said.
—At night
You sighed and finished your dinner, leaving the dishes as instructed by Taehyung. Gosh, why was he acting like a father? He was always disciplining you as if you were some bratty kid. Well, he was your kidnapper. He would try to control you at times but you hated this.
"Stop trying to control me." You complained to him as he stared at you asking, "Control you?"
"Yes. You are no one to tell me what to do or not." You said, scoffing. He nodded and said, "Alright. Do whatever you want."
You thinned your lips as he entered the office, shutting the door on your face.
"Cold toxic annoying b*stard." You said, rolling your eyes.
—Time skip
"Why does he try to be dominant?!" You asked. Jo, who heard you in the living room sat near you and said, "Mr Kim?"
"Who else?" You rolled your eyes as he sighed.
"He does act very controlling at times. He often disciplines me for no reason... when he's mad."
"It's a bad manner. Does he not know?!" You complained. Jo sighed and said, "Honestly, I know that he's wrong but that's how he was raised. There was no one to tell him what was wrong and what was right. Growing up in a household of mafias, he learnt to be controlling and be in power. No one ever disciplined him other than his father so... that's why he's kind of like this. He always seems dominant. But he's actually not that toxic. He does have lots of bad habits, honestly. But sometimes, I'm the one who's ordering him. Trust me or not."
"It's hard to trust you on that." Your remark made him chuckle.
"I know right. When I was new, he sometimes ordered me around as well but I never quite listened. I always protested and he was perplexed, I could see. That's when I got to know that he was raised like this. I always saw Mr Kim teaching him how to act tough, how to order around... how to shoot a gun. Because of that way of being raised, he turned out like this. Quite unlikable. But, once he trusts you, he probably will listen to you as well. You should try... maybe. Ordering him around? He would get flustered." Jo chuckled. You stared at him and said, "You always defend him."
"He deserves to be defended. I believe."
You nodded and said, "I sort of... forgave you guys. Holding a grudge makes it harder for me to survive here as well. But sometimes, I wonder how much more there is left to each of you. New things every day."
"This is just the beginning. You're getting to know us better... we're getting to know you better. It's like coordination. A way for us to be in peace. So, you must build trust in us and vice versa."
"Right. But is my uncle still the bad guy in here?" You asked as Jo said, "Not like my answer would be believable to you."
"Right. It wouldn't be. If you aren't bad guys, why kidnap?"
"Sometimes... evil means lead to good results."
"They do?"
"They do." Wait, this voice. It didn't belong to Jo. Your heart started pounding as you shivered slightly. This deep and cold voice which you supposedly loathed, was ringing in your ears. You looked over at Jo to see him shocked as well.
You turned around to see Taehyung, leaning against the doorframe. He stared at you as his eyes travelled to Jo and then back at you.
"You both sure talk a lot... about other people." His deep voice sent a wave of anxiety to your stomach. Weird anxiety. You had no idea how to term this one.
"Oh... since when were you-" Jo's voice was interrupted by Taehyung, "Since the moment you started talking about how I was raised."
"Sorry, sir. I think I overslippe-"
"I have the right to know." You said. Your voice came out cockier than expected making Taehyung's brows rise in surprise.
"What right do you have?" Taehyung asked as you stared at both of them, awkwardly.
What right did you have again?
"The right of a... hostage! A friend? Is friend too casual?" You whispered the last line as he sighed. Jo hummed and said, "Friends is a really nice way to term it. Are we all friends?"
"No.." You shook your head as he nodded, understandingly.
"I didn't mean to control anyone. I was just angry so stop overreacting and go do your stuff."
"Is this how he apologizes? Cause he was raised like this?" You asked Jo, raising a brow who nodded, pressing his lips.
Shaking your head, you got up and were about to walk out after Jo but stopped, feeling a warm hand on your shoulder. Frowning, you looked up to see Taehyung who stared down at you saying, "Don't care about his words. He sugarcoats words."
"Sure, tough b*stard." You said, nodding your head. Walking away, you couldn't help but chuckle.
"He's ridiculous." You shook your head, chuckling as you entered your room.
"Come to think of it, it's not just Jo who's silly. This leader's even sillier at times, in an unexpected way." You sighed, staring at Azure who was sitting on your bed, watching Netflix. So, he did turn it back. That liar.
Well, by now, considering everything that happened in the past and now, you were kind of sure—he might deserve to be forgiven. And somehow, you did. Your chuckle was the proof. You forgave them by now and accepted them, though somehow, Taehyung didn't seem to want you to do that, you did eventually. You never did how he wanted you to anyway.
