Prologue

Class couldn't go any quicker...

Time seemed to slow down whenever English or Math or Physics came into the equation. My brain would turn off almost instantly whenever my teachers would begin their lecture. They were so mind - numbingly boring! My mind would always be wander toward the window, my half asleep orbs looking toward the tall, oak tree by the window, watching as birds would come and perch on the little branches, sing a small inaudible song before fluttering away. I couldn't be bothered to listen to my teacher drone on about finding a root of an equation.

I had better things to do! I didn't even need this class for the job I wanna do! Why is class so boring?

My eyes slowly wander toward the clock pinned at the front of the classroom, resting my chin on my hand lazily as I calibrate what the time is in my head. Gently tapping my fingernails on the table as I count the minutes left. Only five minutes to go. The teachers words began merging together as I huff through my nose, rolling my eyes as I begin to slide my pens, highlighters and ruler into my pencil case. Completely ignoring the homework being set, knowing that I'll just google it at home or copy the answers off my friend when she completes it.

I just wanted to go home. Be on my own and away from everyone and everything. Forget about the exams and the schoolwork and the homework and the revision. Just go home and relax. Go home, get away from this hellhole and never return until my friend dragged me back in the morning by my hair.

Today just wasn't my day...

As the bell rings, I instantly shove my pencil case into my bag and dart out of the classroom. Bidding the teacher a quick 'thank you' and 'have a good evening' before swerving through the halls to my locker. Muttering quick apologies to whoever I hit with my brick of a bag, fumbling through the abyss that was my school bag to grab my phone while I quickly punch in the code to unlock my locker. Quickly turning the knob to push it wide open, my hands shooting out to grab the books that spill from the top shelf. My locker aching for space as it was full to the brim of books, notepads and revision books, flash cards pinned to the inside of my locker door.

Sighing gently, I push my books back onto the top shelf and hang my bag onto the hook inside the locker. Sliding a strand of hair behind my ear, taking a deep breath to collect myself, as I begin pulling out revision guides, checking each of the covers for the right one. Focused on getting my revision guide for Math so I could study at home. Already making myself a plan of action, mentally reminding myself to make sure I remember my gel pens for school tomorrow.

Until a red feather slices across my hands making me shriek and drop the books, letting them clatter to the floor in an mess. Books integrating with each other, crumpling and folding. My bookmarks slipping out of the marked pages for tonight's study session. Post it notes ripping and crumpling on the floor... Ruined. A small gasp leaves my lips as I kneel down and gently pull the books away from the floor, checking them over and internally screaming at the creased pages and the bent spine.

My eyes flitting toward my tormentor, who sends me a teasing smirk. My mouth running dry. My hands growing clammy as my back suddenly feels numb. The hairs on my back standing on end as I gather the books into my chest and hold them tightly to it. My lips straightening to a thin line as I look down at the floor. His shoes clicking against the floor as he walks toward my small form. My wings threatening to shoot from my back and curl around my form.

I couldn't let them see my wings...

Two girls stood behind him. One on each arm. Their eyes full of adoration when they look toward him before souring into disgust when they lay their vision upon me. Sending me evil smiles as they run their fingers over his bare muscular arms. His piercing yellow eyes gleaming in a playful light as he grins my way.

"K — Keigo..." I stammer gently, looking up at him with a nervous smile as he smirks toward me, his feather gently slitting back into its place into his wings, the bright red wings folded over the two girls with him making them giggle. My tormentor chuckling to himself.

Takami Keigo...

"Aww, come on, chick, there's no need to be nervous around me," he coos, chuckling gently as he cups my cheek in his hand and rubs his thumb over the skin making my cheeks light up gently, "I need you to do something for me,"

"W — what's that?" I ask nervously, changing my weight from one foot to the other, gulping as I hear one of the girls snicker under her breath.

"Come closer," he hums with a small smirk, beckoning me closer. Reluctantly, I step closer to him, eyes stuck on his piercing yellow orbs as he grins my way, sliding his hand down my neck to my shoulder before slamming his hand into my books making them tumble back to the floor making me gasp gently, trying to fumble to catch them.

During that moment, one of his bitches push me to the ground, my shoulder colliding into the floor making me groan in pain. My back spasming slightly as my wings threaten to reveal themselves to break my fall. My hand outstretching to the floor so I didn't slam my head into the hard floor. My other hand shaking as I push my hair out of my face, looking up at them close to tears while Keigo walks past me and inspects my locker making me scramble to my feet before being pushed into the lockers by his girlfriends.

"Don't get in his way, loser," the girls hisses, digging her elbow into my back to keep me in place making me whimper in pain, my nails digging into the hem of my shirt to avoid hurting myself more. All my of energy going into not allowing my wings to leave my back.

They had to stay hidden!

"See, ladies, I told you she would have one," Keigo hums with a smirk, pulling out my bracelet from the secret compartment I hid in the bottom corner, my eyes widening as he twirls it around his finger, the silver jangling against it, "It's a pretty little thing isn't it?"

"Can I have it?" One of the girls ask before whining as Keigo shakes his head, "Come on Kei! I want it!"

"No! Please! It was my grandmothers!" I beg struggling under the grip of the girl holding me down, cursing under my breath as I realise her quirk was weight, making me unable to push her off, my stomach digging into the lockers, close to tears, "Please!"

"Aww, you're cute when you beg," Keigo coos, kissing my nose gently making me pull away with a small sob, my eyes watering as he pockets it, "Thanks for the gift, (Y/n) - chan~"

"You're so bad, Keigo~" One of the girls purr, wrapping her arms around his neck with a giggle, kissing his lips gently before smirking my way, "Be lucky he even talks to you, if I were him I wouldn't waste my time on some low life but it is amusing watching you squirm,"

"Hey, be nice," Keigo teases, chuckling gently before clicking his finger to beckon the other girl, "Come on ladies, let's go have some fun,"

"Bye~" The girl holding me down purrs before pushing me into the locker for good measure, my head slamming into the metal making me yelp in pain and hold it gently, "She's so weak! What a loser!"

Sniffling gently to myself, I ignore all the sorrowful stares being sent my way. Rubbing the small bruise that I know is forming while I quickly gather my books and shove them in my bag. Locking my locker shut. Wiping the tears sliding down my cheeks as I push past people, ignoring them as they try to get my attention, some even moving out of my way to allow me to leave the school as quick as possible... I hated their look of pity...

They didn't care. No matter how they looked at me. None of them came to stop them...

The run home was quick. My heart hammering in my chest as I slam my front door shut before bursting into tears, my sobs shattering the walls as I crumple to my knees and bury my head in my hands. My bag crashing into the floor. My mother's dog whines gently, barrelling toward me and head butting my arm in attempts to make me feel better, letting me cling onto him and bury my face into his fur. Crying into him. My sobs loud. Sniffling louder than ever.

"Sweetie, are you — darling, what's the matter? What did that boy do now?" My mother asks worried, kneeling by my side and pulling me into her arms, kissing my forehead as I burrow my head into her chest, "Shhh, babe... it's okay..."

"H — h — he... he t — to — t — took my b — brace — l — l — let," I reply, whimpering into her chest as she gently rocks me in her arms, wiping my tears on my sleeve as I slump into her and looks down, "A — and these girls... pushed me..."

"Sweetie... oh my poor baby girl," my mother coos softly, kissing my forehead as she rocks me gently in her arms, ignoring the hungry barks from our dog as she rubs my back, "I'll call the school and get this sorted out... this is getting ridiculous (Y/n)... you've done nothing wrong..."

"No! Mom, please... you'll make it worse..." I protest shaking my head as I look down at the floor, curling my hands into fists as I dig my nails into my hands. Breathing shakily as I rub my sleeve along my eyes.

"Fine... then you'll move school," she says kissing my forehead, "You're not going back there, I'll get your sister to pick up your books and stuff, you'll either be homeschooled or moved to U.A., okay?"

"Yeah, mom... thank you"...

"I can't believe he'd steal the only thing that your father left for you before he died... what a horrible boy,"...
