Chapter 59
"Amai, you'll be fine. It's just us, Rumi and Yu. We're gonna have so much fun, don't let that dick hold you back,"
Trying to convince my sister that it's okay to go out shopping after everything she's been through is like getting blood out of a stone. It's just near impossible to even get her out of bed in the mornings, let alone ask her to come out of the house for a short while. For the past few minutes; I've been trying to convince my sister that going shopping isn't going to affect her for a while. It won't kill her. It's perfectly safe and she's surrounded by two pro heroes, who of which are in the top twenty of the Japan Hero Rankings. How safe can you get at this point? Keigo has my phone tracked (for emergencies only) too plus heroes are always patrolling.
However, Amai doesn't believe she'll be safe. I believe that she's worried about running into Arata or any of his friends. She's worried she'll be targeted since her ex boyfriend is in prison and that she'll be kidnapped next. She's petrified of leaving Keigo and I's home. It's a chore and a half to get her to stay home on her own, let alone ask her to come out for a bit. I've never seen her so apprehensive. She's my big sister...
Arata has seriously affected her trust. She doesn't even trust me and I'm her little sister who shares anything and everything with her. I have never, in my life, seen her so so shaken up about something. It's almost disturbing to be the one that's trying to reassure. Usually, Amai's trying to calm me down, not the other way around. She doesn't want to be on her own. She doesn't want Keigo or I to leave without telling her what we're doing or where we're going. It's like she's morphing into our mother and that's not a good thing.
Mom is a very worrisome person.
Sighing gently to myself, I lean against the doorway of the spare room at home. My sister fiddling with the fabric of the bedsheet while I wait for her to climb out of the bed and actually come out for once. She needs to have some fresh air and stop feeling sorry for herself. She needs to get out there again. To socialise. To be herself again. She's had her time to wallow and eat ice cream and cry into her pillows. Nows her time to get out there and pull another handsome guy or girl into her arms and see where it goes.
After mentally trying to convince her through eye contact to come out and shop, she reluctantly agrees. Her eyes rolling while I can't help the smile that spreads across my cheeks. This chases an excited cheer from me as I watch her slide out of bed and grab a pair of jeans and a blouse from her closet. Finally knowing that she's getting ready, I race downstairs and clap my hands. A laugh leaving my lips as Rumi and Yu arch a brow at my excited behaviour.
They don't understand how big of a deal this is.
Amai is finally venturing out again! She's finally becoming her own person again. It'll take a while, I know that. My sister is a tough cookie though, I know she'll pull through and come back as strong as she could possibly be. I know that she'll have an even bigger flame burning in her eyes as she comes back to her normal strong self. She's refusing to let that bastard force her to coop up. She's finally doing it! After weeks of trying to convince her, she's finally doing it!
Almost seconds later, Amai appears at the stairs heading down into the landing. Both Rumi and Yu stare at her with wide eyes. They couldn't believe she's coming. They even had to double check that it was Amai standing in front of them. Almost dazzled at the fact that she's out of her bed before eleven o'clock with clothes on and shoes on her feet. She's ready to go. She's chomping at the bit to come join us on our shopping spree for the month. It's perfect. It's amazing. I couldn't be any more happier than this right now.
Quickly, I hand my sister a breakfast bar to make sure she's eaten before opening the front door to allow everyone to leave. My eyes sparkle with utter happiness as my sister slides out of the house slowly, her fingers gripping onto Rumi's sleeve like a toddler as she looks around. Shutting the door behind us, I lock it up before following Yu to Rumi's car because there's no way we're all carrying a ton of bags all the way back to our homes.
A girl has to plan for every outcome, people!
Smiling gently, I slide into the front seat of Rumi's car while Amai and Yu slide into the back. A laugh leaving my lips as Rumi gets herself comfortable before turning on her music and driving off the driveway. My stomach swirls softly with something that I cannot explain but I push it away as Rumi bursts into song with Yu and Amai laughing in the backseats. Rumi, despite losing her arm, is still the bubbly and the excited and the boisterous personality that she always it. Rumi is the strongest woman I have ever known.
While Rumi drives, I turn toward my sister who's slightly on edge yet she still tries to keep up appearances. Both Yu and Rumi knew everything that had been going on. Not only does Keigo update them but Rumi is also one of the heroes assigned to the Hankirai case. Both of them know how horrible she must feel and they both have tried to be there for both of us.
Especially when our father had been a target to the yakuza and had fallen victim to them...
Smiling softly, I look toward Amai who sends me a strained smile. Her eyes portraying a different emotion to what her face is. Slowly, I grab her hand and squeeze it to try and reassure her that she'll be okay. That everything will be fine. We're safe. We're with two heroes that would die before anything happened to us. We're okay.
As Rumi pulls up to the parking lot, reversing into the bay with a grin. Her eyes sparkling happily as we all evacuate the car and look toward her. Immediately, like a child on Christmas Day, Rumi wraps her arm around Yu before dragging her toward the shopping mall that we're going to making Amai snort as she follows after me.
"How you feeling?" I ask, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear as we follow Rumi into the mall, "Talk to me,"
"I'm okay... I just... I don't want to..." Amai groans gently, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she sighs to herself and runs her fingers through her hair, "You know... I just don't want anything to happen,"
"Nothing will happen, we're safe," I reassure her, kissing her cheek as she nods and links her hand with my own, "We're with two heroes who are in the top twenty too, we're going to be fine,"
"I know... I know," Amai mumbles, sending me a small smile as she heads into the mall by my side and looks around the bustling building, "So where to first?"
"I wanna get some clothes," Rumi tells her as she heads toward one of her favourite clothing stores with Yu hot on her heels, "I need some more fitness clothes too, I ripped my shorts putting Keigo in a headlock the other day,"
"Oh I heard," I tell her, giggling as I remember the tale that Keigo told me of being choked by Rumi's thighs and her shorts splitting as she tried to flip him on the ground, "Keigo bought me chocolates and candy that night because he thought I'd be pissed off,"
Giggling, we all head into the clothes store following Rumi like a bunch of children. A smile plays on my lips as Rumi walks toward the loungewear and the sportswear within a matter of seconds. Rumi doesn't like to spend all day in one shop. She likes variety. If she can't find something she likes within a few seconds, she's out of the store. Always have to keep on your toes whenever you shop with Rumi. You never know when she'll just leave a store and head toward the next one that seems decent to her.
While Rumi has a quick glance at the clothes she needs, Amai and I head toward the woman's section. The pair of us immediately heading toward our favourite styles. Amai going to the pastel colours, the denim dresses and the bright rainbow colours while I head toward the nude colours, the black colours and my favourite clothing items. As I flick through the gorgeous tops they have for sale, I look toward my sister who's already managed to grab at least five different items within a space of two minutes.
I haven't even chose one piece of clothing yet!
Humming softly, I grab myself a couple of pairs of jeans as well as some tights before heading toward the tops and the dresses. My eyes flit toward my sister. Happiness swirls in my chest as I see Amai in her element. The girl smiling to herself as she grabs herself another dress and a denim jacket. She's in her own world. She's forgotten about that dick of an ex boyfriend and is finally living her life like she used to do.
As I file through the tops, Rumi slides beside me and sends me a small smile before clearing her throat. Slowly, I pull my hands away from the tops and look toward the rabbit quirked female who looks around our circumference before taking a deep breath.
"I assume Keigo told you about the whole Yakuza situation," Rumi hums making me nod and add a top to my basket with a small hum, "How are you feeling about it?"
"Well... I'm worried for him obviously, I'm never not worried," I tell her honestly, holding a dress against my body to see if I'd suit it as I look toward the mirror, "This is a huge deal for him though, he's in charge of a case as big as this... I mean, he's been dreaming of something like this for years,"
"Yeah, I know," Rumi hums, watching as I add the dress to my basket and head toward the sport section for when I go out on my runs, "Have you spoke to Amai about any of it?"
"No, she doesn't need to know about anything like this at the moment," I reply, heading toward the checkout once I have everything I need, "She's happy. I don't want to ruin that so soon. Just let her get used to the fact that Arata isn't going to be around and that she's safe. Let her feel comfortable moving in with you before we drop the bomb,"
"Sounds like a plan," Rumi hums, high fiving me before paying for her clothes while I do the same, "Ooh! Ooh! I have some news too! You're gonna love it!"
"What is it?" I ask as we finish paying and leave the store where Amai and Yu are already waiting with their bags full of clothes. The two girls watching us confused, "Rumi has news,"
"Ooh! What is it?!" Yu asks excitedly, jumping up and down as we head through the mall toward another clothes shop, "Tell us!"
"Well, uh... I met this beautiful girl the other day," Rumi explains, following Amai through the store as she gushes, "She's amazing, she's so sweet... she has a little five year old girl who's the most adorable kid in the world..."
"Awww," Amai coos, giggling as Rumi blushes and rubs the back of her neck, "Do I smell love blossoming?~"
"Kinda, I mean, after Tenko I don't really wanna be dating guys anymore," Rumi explains as I head toward the kids section of the store. The rabbit watching me closely, "Where are you going? Hm? There something you wanna tell us?"
"Hm? Oh, uh... no..." I tell them softly, stopping myself and shaking my head with a clear of my throat before heading back, "Thought it was the Men's,"
"Why yes, bright colours with rainbows and unicorns and cars shout men's section," Yu teases while I roll my eyes and head toward the men's section to get Keigo a couple of clothing items, "So Rumi, tell us more about this girl!"
As Rumi relays everything she can about this mysterious girl she's seeing, my eyes flit back toward the child's section before going back to the tops I'm looking through. With Keigo and I trying, the want to buy baby stuff has increased tenfold. Keigo wants a family as desperately as I do. We've been trying for months and months now. So far, nothing has happened. Maybe we're trying before and after my ovulation window instead of during, I don't know.
However, recently, I've been feeling a bit off. I don't know. Maybe I'm finally pregnant. My miracle baby in a way. The amount of stress my body has been through is enough to prevent any sort of conceiving. I'll have to take a test soon... or maybe when I get home. With Keigo feeling so down in the dumps, I'd love to cheer him up with news that will make him jump for joy...
There's only one thing to do I suppose...
I'll have to grab some pregnant tests when no one is looking...
