Chapter 56
Frustration leaks out of my ears as I stare at my reflection in the fifth outfit I have tried on this morning. Teeth grind against one another as I stare at the mirror, nails digging into my palms. My reflection staring back at my body as I judge the outfit clinging to my body. None of my clothes felt right to me this morning, everything I seem to put didn't feel like 'the outfit' that I should wear today. It didn't help when my nerves were shot to bits with anxiety and stress. Everything didn't look right in my mind. I've spent hours trying to think of the best outfit and the best look to rock up to my new job today and none of them have screamed 'this is the look'. Why does this have to be so hard?!
Cursing under my breath, I run my fingers through my hair and rip off my outfit with a small whine. Tears of vexation pool in the corner of my eyes as I throw my clothes on the floor and bury my head in my hands. Shoulders tremble as I release another pitiful whine. My stomach tying in knots as I stare at the sea of clothes I've pulled from my closet. God... I daren't look at the clock. Why is this so difficult?! All I need is an outfit... is that so hard to ask for? Just an outfit. An outfit that will give my bosses the impression that I'm professional, I'm reliable and I'm good at what I do. Why does this have to take so much time?
Catching my attention, the door opens. My nose sniffling as Keigo walks in with a plateful of toast covered with poached egg and smashed avocado. Keigo eyes the mountain of clothing as he sets my plate down onto my nightstand and heads toward me, his arms wrap around my waist, kissing my cheek as he judges the sheer amount of clothes I'm surrounded by. This is obviously not what he had in mind for how I would start my first day at Modutusuka Fashion Industries. Taking a deep breath, Keigo pulls away and opens up my closet with a small hum.
"Baby, I need you to take a deep breath," Keigo guides me, clicking his tongue as he looks over the clothes that I haven't thought of wearing yet. The male smiling to himself as I wipe my eyes and take a deep breath, "Eat your breakfast, I'll handle your outfit,"
"How will I know you won't dress me in anything stupid?" I ask cautiously as I push myself to sit up onto my bed before sitting the tray in my lap to dig into my homemade breakfast that Keigo had made me, "You don't really have any sense of fashion... have you seen your hero costume? That fluffy jacket is no means a good thing,"
"Just eat your breakfast, I got this," Keigo reassures me, kissing my forehead gently before heading back into the closet to pull out some clothes, "Let your gorgeous fiancé handle your problems~"
Rolling my eyes, I relax against the headboard of my bed with a small hum. My teeth working through the two slices of toast and poached eggs with avocado. A small sigh of relief leaving my lips as I realise Keigo hasn't allowed my toast to get soggy with the egg. Lips curl into a smile as I swallow down more of my breakfast, watching as my fiancé pulling out some clothes and mutters to himself. His red wings flutter with his movements, the feathers beginning to grow back to their normal length.
After I finish my breakfast, placing the tray and plate back onto the nightstand, I look toward my fiancé who sends me a confident smile as he rests his chosen outfit on the bed. In front of me, staring at me in the face, is a soft pastel pink button - up blouse with a professional flair about it alongside a black pencil skirt that should end just below my knees. He then grabs some black high heels that are only an inch or so tall making me smile weakly as he encourages me to go and change into the outfit so he can have a quick once over and give me a final opinion.
Grateful, I kiss his cheek and take a deep breath. Shimmying into the clothes, I tuck in the cloud and look toward my reflection with a faint hum. My eyes rake over my appearance, turning around in it to see what it looks like from all angles and smiling when I look toward Keigo. The shaggy blonde grins from ear to ear, pride swelling in his chest as he wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my cheek. Our reflection smiling back at us as my engagement ring reflects in the light.
"You look absolutely gorgeous," Keigo compliments, resting his head on my shoulder as I look at our reflection while twiddling my ring around my finger, "You're going to kill it today, they're going to love you,"
"You really think so?" I ask, looking up at him while he kisses my nose and grins my way, "You really think I'll do good?"
"You'll do amazing, now go before I tear up," Keigo teases, playfully covering his eyes and fake sobbing while I clean my teeth and slide into the high heels, "My beautiful baby is all grown up! I remember when you were this small and you were —"
"Okay, Kei, reel it in," I hum, snorting as he pouts before I head out of the house after giving Angel some cuddles. My heels click against the floor before I spread my wings and shoot into the air, "Okay, (Y/n), you got this,"
Soaring through the sky, I run my fingers through my hair to calm my nerves down. As far as I was aware, all I'm doing today is getting to know the staff and the models and showcasing my designs before working on what look can go with what outfit. It's nothing too drastic. I'm not being thrown headfirst into the deep end. Mitsuki told me that she's going to ease me into working for her before piling up the workload. Especially since I've not been working for four weeks due to the whole kidnapping thing...
God! This is such a great opportunity that I can't ruin this! I have to do amazing!
After my journey, I arrive at the front doors of the Modutusuka Agency building. Heart jumps in my throat as I rest my hand on the door handle. I can do this. I've dreamt of this moment, my whole life. I got this! Psyching myself up, I push the door open and walk through into the main foyer where a rather nervous girl standing in the centre holding a huge pile of documents and paperwork beside Mitsuki. The tall blonde woman immediately grins at my presence and shakes my hand as I walk over.
"It's so nice to finally see you face to face," Mitsuki comments, her ruby irises going over my outfit before smiling. Thank god! The woman herself was clad in a black pencil skirt, white t shirt and a purple cardigan over the top, her blonde hair spiking all over the place, "As you know, I'm Mitsuki. This is my daughter, she's one of our designers who you'll work with,"
"H — hi," The girl squeaks out, peeking at me over the stack of papers with a nervous smile. Her personality completely opposite to her mothers, "I would shake your hand but... I kinda have my hands full,"
"Quit complaining," Mitsuki barks at her daughter making my eyes widen slightly, the girl in front of me rolls her eyes and mutters curse words under her breath as she clears her throat, "If you follow me, I'll let you get acquainted with my husband who's our head designer at Modutusuka,"
"Have a good first day," Mitsuki's daughter hums, sending me a small smile as I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear and thank her, "I have to sort out some paperwork,"
"How old is your daughter?" I ask Mitsuki, leaving the foyer and heading into the elevator with a small smile. The blonde woman shakes her head with a small curt snort as she presses a floor number, "Is she around my age?"
"She's nineteen, she's doing an apprenticeship here," Mitsuki explains, tapping away at her phone before pocketing it in her skirt, "She's a very odd girl, I have to admit. She moved out a couple months ago and she's been very strange recently. She's probably hiding a guy or something in her home,"
"Really?" I ask tilting my head as she nods, the woman judging her nails as she waits for the elevator to head to the requested floor, "Well I'm sure she'll tell you when the time is right, maybe it isn't serious yet,"
"Well, my daughter isn't good at hiding things, that's for sure," Mitsuki notes with a snort, almost laughing at her own joke while I nod nervously and rub the back of my neck, "She's so jump and jittery,"
Nodding gently, not wanting to talk anymore on the subject of my new bosses daughter, I sigh in relief as the elevator dings at the floor Mitsuki wanted. The woman beckons me to follow her, her heels clicking against the floor as she heads down a hallway and knocks on a large white door. With the all clear, she leads me into the room where, who I'm assuming is, her husband is sat at a desk with sketches littered across the desk.
Now, Mr. Bakugo isn't what I expected him to be. I thought of this intimidating guy who large muscles. Kinda like Endeavor. Considering how brash and violent and loud their son - Katsuki - can be when I watched him at the U.A sports festival. This guy isn't like his son at all...He seems like a marshmallow. He has short brown hair with classes sitting on his nose. Maybe him and his daughter are alike: it would make sense.
"Masaru, this is (Y/n)," Mitsuki introduces, watching as her husband sets down his pencil and pushes to his feet, "She's our new Head Makeup Designer,"
"It's nice to finally meet you," Masaru greets, shaking my hand as I extend it in greeting and smile politely toward him, "How are you?"
"I'm good, I'm better than I was," I explain, rubbing the back of my neck as I watch him nod and set aside some sketches, "Thank you so so much for this opportunity,"
"Oh don't worry about it, your work is just amazing," He compliments, smiling as I flush with pride and giggle to myself, "Now, we can get down to business,"
"We have a photo shoot tomorrow morning at ten o'clock sharp," Mitsuki explains as she hands me an electronic tablet with all the information on it, "The outfits are all on here, there are fifteen in total. I want you to design fifteen makeup looks for each outfit and submit them to our photographer who will then finalise and give the green light. The information on the models wearing the outfit will be there too, any changes will be sent straight to you,"
"Our theme this time is Autumn," Masaru explains as he shows me the mood board he has created for this photo shoot, "With summer now ending, it's time to bring back the nude colours and the darker colours,"
"Do you want completely separate lo —"
"Don't ask us questions, you're the head makeup artist," Mitsuki explains cutting me off with a smile. Her eyes gleaming with joy as I blush with happiness, "We follow you, you do what you think is right. If you think some models need to have the same look, you do it. This is to let you show off your skills. Your designs for Hawks were wonderful, so we know you have very capable hands,"
"Thank you,"
"Of course, now," Mitsuki begins before clearing her throat and clasping her hands together. Despite the fact that her husband is probably the boss, she seems to be the one in control, "I'll show you to your office and let you crack on!"
Nodding happily, I send a quick wave goodbye to Masaru before following Mitsuki out of the office. We go two doors down before stopping at another door, my eyes bulging when I see the plaque on the door. It had my name! I finally have my own office! I have a door plaque! This is amazing! Mitsuki hands me the keys to the office and allows me to open it up for the first time.
Excitedly, I push the door open and rush inside with a squeal. My eyes sparkling with glee as I look around at the office space. This is amazing! I have my own whiteboard to brainstorm ideas on. I have my own desk! I have a cork board on the back wall to pin ideas on and the looks that I like the most! God... this is a dream come true!
"Welcome to Modutusuka," Mitsuki hums, patting my back as I slide into the wheelie chair and recline into it, "If you need anything just call my husband or I, or even my daughter if you are desperate,"
"Thank you so much!"...
"Of course, now get to work, you have some designs to make!"...
"I won't let you down,"...
