"Hey Baby Bird, how you doing?"

Putting on a brave face, sending me his signature lopsided cocky grin, sits Keigo with a small sigh. My heart breaking when I notice his Adam's apple bobbing anxiously when my Aunt Yuna pushes me further into his hospital room to get closer to him. His eyes were like a tunnel into his emotions, the yellow bright hue that often came with his eyes were almost dull and strained. That spark in his eyes fizzling out as he looks back toward the window. The skin around his eyes becoming red and puffy and seemed to irritate him slightly... Almost like he had been crying for a while.

Taking a deep breath, I wheel myself closer to him before sending my Aunt a reassuring smile. The woman kisses my cheek gently, patting my back before sending a smile toward Keigo who grimaces before looking back out the window. As soon as my aunt leaves the room, I move the wheelchair to the side of the bed and place it as close as I can toward the end. Once I'm at the end of the bed, I slowly pull myself onto the bed and crawl toward my boyfriend who can't help but chuckle softly at my actions.

Immediately, as soon as I'm beside him, he wraps his arms around my tightly to keep me as close as he can toward me. My head is places on his shoulder, his fingers brushing through my hair as he rests his chin on my head. My boyfriend taking a deep breath as he rubs my back with his other hand. A sniffle leaving his lips as I slowly snuggle into his warmth and wrap my arms around him tightly. Nuzzling deeper into his warmth, I press my ear against his chest while taking a deep breath. A faint smile on my lips that I can now cuddle with my boyfriend without worrying about being kidnapped by anyone...

But it isn't the same...

As I feel his back gently, my fingers feel over bandages that are occupying his back. His neck covered with white bandages that were pristinely wrapped around his porcelain skin. I couldn't help but pull back slightly to assess the bandages to see where they really were. My eyes widening at the sheer amount of bandages that adorned his skin. The ones around his neck. The ones going over his shoulders and down his back. Across his stomach too and down his arms. The male sending me a weak smile as I slowly trace each of the bandages and look up at him worried.

I haven't even been told what happened to him, all I know is that he and Dabi had a fight between one another. My mom hasn't even said what happened, all I know is that he had to undergo a really important surgery... my heart breaking slightly as I look up into his eyes and cup his cheeks into my hands. As I rest our foreheads together, I take a deep breath and intertwine our hands together while he snuggles into my warmth.

"I'm just so glad you're okay..." he mumbles softly, nuzzling his nose against mine while I send him a weak smile and peck his lips gently making him chuckle, "I don't know what I'd do if I lost you... I love you so much,"

"I'm glad you're okay too... I can't believe you would scare me like that," I mumble back softly, humming as he pulls me into his lap. Letting me straddle his thighs, I pull him closer and take a deep breath. The intimate moment between us slowly allowing us to bask in each other's presence, "What the hell happened to you?... Kei... your w... your wings..."

Upon hearing that word, Keigo looks away and pulls his body away from my own in a sort of act of insecurity. My heart wrenching in pain as I look toward him worried, clearing my throat as I try to wrap my arms around his neck to pull him close. The male flits his eyes toward me before looking away and leaning back against the headboard of the hospital bed. His hands wrap around my waist as he buries his head into the crook of my neck. The wet feeling of tears springing against my shoulders as his shoulders slightly begin to heave...

Oh god...

As seconds pass, Keigo slowly becomes more and more distraught. His hands tightening around me as he chokes on a sob. Tears staining my neck and shoulders while I kiss his cheek and rub his back ever so gently. I knew better than to prod. Keigo needs some time to grieve before he tells me which is perfectly understandable. Seeing him so crushed makes my heart jump into my throat, ready to be puked up. I couldn't believe how much pain someone could go through... then again, he's just lost his wings which were the only source of his quirk. So he's not only lost his wings but he's lost his quirk...

"Baby, shhh... it's okay," I reassure him as we rock to and fro. A small sniffle leaving my lips as I take a deep breath and rub his back as he sobs harder, "I got you, let it all out honey,"

"I — I... I'm so sorry..." he sobs, clinging to me for dear life while I cough back a sob of my own and look toward him as he stares up at me with a small cough, "I — I love you... s — so much baby bird... a — and I can't even protect you... I —"

"Hey, that's enough of that," I tell him softly, kissing his nose as he sniffles and looks up at me with a slight whine. His eyes red and bloodshot. Tear tracks staining his cheeks as he leans into my hands that are holding his cheeks into place, "I'm back now, and that's what matters. We're back together and we will be okay... you saved me Kei, you protected me and that's what matters... sweetie, it hurts me so much to see you in so much pain..."

"I can't... I... I can't... I'm not..." he mumbles incoherently as I pull him close and allow him to snuggle as close as he can to me. His nose burrowing into the crook of my neck as I take a deep breath, "Baby... I can't work anymore... I..."

"You can work. Kei, look at me," I tell him, sending him a weak and reassuring smile as he flits his face upwards to look toward me, "We both know that your wings will grow back... that's just how your quirk works —"

"But he burnt my back! I — I can't... I..." Keigo cries, shaking in my arms as I pull him close and force him to look at me while he cries gently. There once would be a time where I wouldn't care if he was like this, that maybe I would have taken pleasure in seeing him suffer because of everything I've been put through but... I could never be happy about someone suffering, "I can't be a hero anymore..."

"Kei, listen to me," I tell him slightly, trying to remember the ins and outs of his quirk while he sniffles and whimpers, "You live without yohr wings for two days. That's all. They take two days to grow back fully... maybe up to a week because of the skin damage but they will grow back,"

"You're right... you're so right..." he mumbles into my hand as he kisses my palm, then my wrist with a small sigh before kissing up my arm and looking up at me as he pecks my cheek, "Can you... with your wings?... please?..."

Knowing what he's on about, I slowly loosen the hospital gown around my person and relinquish my wings from their sheaths. The pure white angelic appendages stretching to their full wingspan before I slowly begin to wrap them around the both of us. Keigo sniffling as he looks around and smiles weakly to himself as he slowly runs his fingers through my feathers while he shifts. Keigo forcing himself into my lap, his back against my chest and his head leaning onto my shoulder. Our hands intertwined.

"I'm sor —"

"You have nothing to be sorry for, okay? You did what you had to do and I'm back home, that's what matters," I tell him gently, kissing his cheek and just cuddling him close. He needs to have the support. He needs to have the cuddles and the affection. He needs all of it and I'm more than happy to give it to him, "Why don't we talk about something else? Hm? Damien said he'd bring Angel over soon..."

"That'll be nice..." he hums weakly before looking up at me and taking a deep breath as he kisses the back of my hand, "You... you ever think about us? Like... our future and stuff?"

"Future? I mean, I've thought about it a little but..." I begin slowly, looking toward Keigo as he clears his throat and takes a deep breath to calm down his erratic breathing, "What have you thought about, Kei?"

"Well... I see us with rings around this finger," he says pointing toward my left ring finger making my heart flutter as he smiles softly and kisses my knuckles, "And maybe... with your approval of course... a little mini baby bird... just one. Then we could spoil them... be the best parents ever,"

"You really think about that?" I ask softly with a smile, giggling as Keigo nods happily and snuggles into my chest with a hum, "That's adorable Kei,"

"Yeah... and we can take our little chick to the park and for smoothies," He rambles on softly, fiddling with the hem of my hospital gown as he takes a deep breath, "And we can spend millions on Endeavor merchandise because they'll be an —"

"I am not spending a fortune on Endeavor merchandise," I tell him with a small laugh, giggling as I see the small flicker of Keigo's humour spark alight, "Our baby will be a Fat Gum fan and you can't stop that,"

"Nah, Endeavor," Keigo teases, sticking his tongue out while I playfully push at his arm gently making him laugh, "Alright, how about we compromise and go for Endeavor?"

"Keigo," I hum, kissing his cheek as he looks up at me and snuggles, "I think they'll be Hawks' number one fan... and then they'll watch all of his fights and his awards. They'll even want to be a hero just like him,"

"God, Baby Bird... you're gonna make me cry," he whines, burying his head into the crook of my neck while I giggle softly and kiss his cheek, "They'll be your biggest fan too, Miss Makeup Superstar,"

"Maybe, give it time and maybe that all can happen,"...

"Yeah, wait until we've both healed up and got back into normality,"...

"Exactly, we have all the time in the world to do all of that. Right now, I want to love you and only you,"...
