Chapter 2
A small giggle leaves my lips as Angel nuzzles herself into my wings while I eat my dinner, watching the fluffy Samoyed make home within my soft white feathers. Her bright blue eyes sparkling with happiness as she curls herself into my hip with my white feathers dancing across her fur. Keeping her warm. A smile plays on my lips as I slide my hand over her fur, patting her gently as she nuzzles her nose onto my lap, I gently drag my hand over her fur. My other hand picking up the chicken wings from the huge bucket from a takeout restaurant, suckling the skin off the bone while I watch tv.
On the other side of the livingroom, feeling betrayed, sat my sister. Staring at Angel as if she had just taken a knife and stabbed her. The snow white dog happily resting on my lap with a happy pant, yapping up at me as she wishes for some food, happily settling for my chicken covered fingers and licking at them. Her tail thwacking against the sofa making a regular thumping sound. Amai pouting as she settles for her fluffy pillow in her lap.
"Damn traitor," Amai grumbles under her breath as she pouts toward Angel, whining as the little dog turns her head away from her to rest her cheek against my stomach, "She was all mine until you came here with your stupid wings,"
"Not my fault she loves them so much," I hum with a small giggle, wiping my greasy fingers on a wipe before running my fingers through my hair with a small hum, "I better take Angel for her w - a - l - k before the sun goes back, be back in a bit,"
"Have fun getting that on her," Amai says with a laugh, giggling to herself as Angel sits on my wings, keeping me from getting up making me wince as my wings pull on my back, "She's a lump, you feed her so much now,"
"Shhh! She's gonna hear you!" I whine, covering her tiny little ears making Angel look up at me and tilt her head, a cute little look on her face making my heart melt as I pick her up and kiss her cheek, "You're my little angel, aren't you? Yes you are! Oh, yes you are!"
"And I still wonder why you're so single but I just can't find the answer," My sister teases, shrieking with laughter as I chuck a pillow toward her, hitting her smack in the face before I go into the kitchen to grab Angel's leash, heading back into the living room sending Angel a smile.
"Come on then my little Angel - Cake, let's go for a little run," I coo, kneeling down by the little pup and carefully clicking the leash onto her pretty blue collar, kissing her snout before pulling away, "You need anything before I leave you to wallow in your loneliness?"
"Hmmm... I don't think so, I'm pretty stocked up for my hell week next week," My sister says tapping her cheek as she looking around the room, trying to depict what she needs before shaking her head, "I'll be alright, you have fun on your run,"
I hum gently, nodding to myself before slipping my shoes on, waving my sister one final goodbye before heading out the door. Letting Angel gallop a bit ahead of me as I walk after her, giggling to myself as she runs off a couple of feet and then patiently sits when I gently tug on her leash. The little pup panting happily as we walk down the sidewalk. Her tail wagging giddily in the air as we walk past other pedestrians, Angel soaking up all the coos sent her way from complete strangers. She just loved the attention from anyone and everyone, even letting the odd child gently pet her head as we head toward the field.
Oh the joys of having a cute little doggy.
Taking Angel for a walk was my only source of downtime in this hectic world we live in. It was therapeutic to sit down and watch the clouds go by. Pamper days weren't doing it for me anymore... With taking Angel out, I could rewind and be with my own thoughts while sitting on a withering bench at the park watching my little fur baby chase squirrels up their trees and catch her ball with minimal effort. Angel drags me out the house which is what I'm grateful for.
It gives me something to do, instead of sitting at home doing absolutely nothing.
Finding time to relax was always going to be a difficult thing. Life was so head on that you couldn't just pause it to take a step back. You couldn't have that time to yourself where you reflect on you. That's why I was so grateful Angel came into my life... she gave me a reason to take a step back. She always put a smile on my face with that grin - like smile. My little Angel always knew how to perk me up. Regardless of how bad my day was, cuddles with my dog always made it ten times better.
Luckily, it wasn't too hot this evening. The grass across the expanse of the park nice and dry, meaning that Angel won't need a bath as soon as she steps into the house. Like usual. I smile to myself as Angel happily barks up at me, standing on her two hind legs to try and pry my fingers into taking her collar off. Her bright blue eyes begging me to let her have a run around before we head home, to which I oblige. I gently unhook the leash from her collar, kissing her damp nose with a smile before ruffling her fur.
And just like that she's darting across the field happily barking.
Angel was quite the character, I have to admit it. She's a very goofy dog, always rolling on her back and sticking her tongue out, standing on her hind legs and waving her paws in the air to get your attention. If she wanted something, she'd give you the most cutest puppy dog eyes in the world. They were so hard to say no to! She always made us smile, no matter what mood we were in. Always rushing off without thinking, playing around the fields without a care in the world.
A smile plays on my lips as I hear her bark while I settle down on a park bench, the end of it withering away from the weather. Resting my elbow on the metal arm rest while I take a small breath. My wings slowly emerge back into my back, as to not get them dirty, making my back tingle as they finally merge in and I'm left flightless until I want them out again. Unfortunately, the more I remove my wings, the more tattered my feathers get and I can't exactly brush them myself... I can't even reach the back of my wings! It sucks! I get blessed with other this amazing quirk and I can't even reach the back of them to brush them!
And I'm not trusting my sister doing it after last time!
Suddenly, a figure sitting next to me cuts me out of my thoughts. For a split second, I look toward them before looking back at the field and my eyes widen. Wait a second... Was it really her? Taking a deep breath through my nose, I sneak a quick peek toward the woman beside me as she unbuckles her own dog from her leash and throws it a ball to chase after. A small groan leaving my lips when I get a better view of her.
Yeah... it's her...
I cannot be dealing with this today. Why of all days did I have to run into her? There's a million other people on this planet that I could run into, yet I never run into anyone that I really want. I'd rather run into Endeavor than her! Well... if I'm choosing who I'm bumping into can I please bump into Fatgum!
So why, oh why, did Sara Kurigara have plant herself right next to me?!
Sara, unfortunately for her, was one of Keigo Takami's side bitches. With autumnal auburn hair, big and round chocolate brown eyes and freckles covering her cheeks and nose. She was beautiful, I couldn't deny that. However, what I hated about her was that she followed Keigo like a lost puppy. She would do anything for him at a drop of a hat without any questions. She was there. When I got my bracelet stolen from me. She was there. The one that refused to let me go when Keigo stole my bracelet. And now, here she is...
"Your dog is very beautiful," she says, looking out toward her own dog and my dog as they play around with each other, jumping onto each other and playfully nipping one another, "Whats her name?"
"Angel," I reply clearing my throat, digging my nails into my palms as I focus my eyes on the dogs instead of my high school bully beside me, my brain screaming at me to run away but what good would that do, "I've only had her for a couple months,"
"Awww, well Willow seems to like her," She hums with a smile before turning to face me, her next words getting caught in her throat when I look back at her and send her a small forced smile, "(Y — Y/n)..."
"The one and only," I hum, crossing my leg over the other and leaning my head on my hand with a small hum, watching as Angel jumps over Willow to get the ball before he does, Sara's words sticking to her throat as she stares at me, her lips opening and closing, "What are you? A fish?"
"N — no, I — I... I — I uh..." she stutters clearing her throat a thousand and one times, fiddling with the handle of her handbag as she looks around to try and find an excuse (to leave probably), "H — how are you?"
"Never been better," I reply, rather forcefully and strained, drawing circles onto my jeans with my nails, watching her squirm uncomfortably beside me, "How about you?"
"I — I'm okay..." she replies sighing at the end of her sentence, probably wondering why she had to sit here when there were plenty of empty benches, "I work at... at the diner down town... what do you do?"
"I'm a makeup artist at one of the top modelling agencies in Japan," I reply half heartedly, biting back the smirk as I watch her face fall, possibly thinking that the girl she bullied wouldn't have been as successful as her, although I wasn't a professional as of yet... but she didn't need to know that.
"R — right... um... congratulations..." she says softly, picking at the insides of her nails, trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling of guilt rising in her chest, "You must enjoy it..."
"Of course," I hum, shrugging softly before smiling as Angel paws at Willow's head, the two dogs yapping and playing with each other, slowly beginning to enjoy this, "So what have you been up to? Hm? Got into anyone else's pants lately? Stole some jewellery?"
"I — uh... I — I..." she stutters, gulping rather loudly as she bites her lip, looking down at her lap as she sighs and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, "Look... I — I'm really sorry I did that to you in high school... I — I was only following Keigo..."
"So you chose dick over being a nice person?" I ask tilting my head, looking toward her as she sighs looking down at her lap, fiddling with her nails. Her brown eyes focusing on her newly manicured nails, "Whatever, I'm not bothered anymore, you can stutter and act all sorry all you want but I know you don't mean it, so I'll leave this conversation here. Have a nice life, Sara,"
"Y — yeah..." she mumbles looking down at her feet, letting her sneakers scuff against the mud while I call for Angel who comes barrelling toward me, "S — see you around..."
"Come on Angel," I hum, kneeling down to her level and gently clipping her leash in place, "Lets go home,"
Sending Sara one last smile, I head off back toward the streets, Angel trotting happily beside me as we begin to head home. A small sigh leaving my lips as I rub the bridge of my nose with my thumb and middle finger. An irritated groan leaving my lips, knowing that I may have to bump into her again when I take Angel for a walk. My head spinning the further away I got from the park and the closer I got to my home. Why did it have to be her of all people?... Well, on the bright side:
At least it wasn't Keigo...
Clearing my throat, I open the front door of my home and unbuckle Angel, letting her dart into the kitchen to get a drink. Her claws scratching against the linoleum floor as she scarpers. My feet leading me toward the living room. The tv playing something rather boring in my opinion. My sister snuggling up on the couch while watching some documentary on some weird villain. She was always into her criminal psychology. Always wondering what made villains the way they were.
Noticing my arrival, Amai turns the tv off and sends me a reassuring smile, opening her arms for me to slide into them. Sending her a tired groan, I slump into her arms and snuggle, smiling softly as she slips her fingers through my hair. The older girl gently pressing a soft kiss to my temple as I relax into her arms.
"Run into anyone?" She asks softly, drawing circles onto my back when I rest my cheek against her thigh, "Have a nice walk?"
"I guess... ran into Sara Kurigara," I groan, watching her freeze as she knows who she is, "She didn't realise it was me at first, then she went all sputtery and jittery,"
"Because she's a guilty bitch," My sister seethes rubbing her temple with a small sigh, shaking her head as she breathes through her nose, rather annoyed, "She was never a nice person, she fat yet?"
"Amai! You can't just..." I begin in shock, sitting up to stare at her but trail off with a small giggle as I shake my head, rubbing the back of my head, as I burst into fits of laughter, slumping onto the couch with a squeal of giggle, "No she isn't,"
"Damn it,"...
