(7) Hate the headache less than him
I groaned, burying my face into my pillow.
Yeah, I'm never drinking alone again.
After laying around for about an hour or so, I slowly got out of my bed. The curtains were already opened and my room was surprisingly clean. The floor didn't have any clothes and the carpet was vacuumed. My table though, that reminded me of who I was. I needed to clean.
Holding my head in my hands, I didn't bother washing up and tumbled down and into the kitchen to get some medicine.
"There he is!"
I groaned, biting back the want to slap someone's face. "Shut up please."
"Alan!" That was my mum, which made me look up.
In front of me, in a corner of the kitchen, sat grandma May on a chair, smiling wide at me. My mouth dropped open and I really wanted to shout out, but my headache going out worse.
I made sure to show her to wait a second and reached up for the tablets. Once I had refreshed and stood still for about five minutes, ignoring how mum kept giving me weird glances, I turned to grandma May again, this time, returning her smile.
"Grandma May!" I ran into her arms, laughing along with her, ignoring the little pain my idiotic drunken self got me into. "What are you doing here?!"
"What, you don't want me here?!"
"No! I mean, yes I want you here but then I thought you were going to be busy with hospital works and all!"
Grandma May chuckled. "Yes I was, but then I realized that I could spend that time with you guys while your mum did all the work."
I heard mum groan from behind and I laughed with grandma May. With the noise, Katie walked down as well, in her night gown, thankfully. What didn't go well with me was that Mason followed behind.
"Oh, you must be the famous Mason!"
The guy nodded and grandma May let go of me to snuggle him. Rude.
"By the way bro." I turned to Mason with a raised brow. "How much did you drink last night?"
I lifted my other brow and shrugged, looking around the room. Mum giggled along with grandma May and that was enough to tell me something happened, when I was drunk.
"Well, make sure you're around one of us next time."
I was curious alright, he made sure that I felt so. That sneaky bastard. I'd get the facts out of him soon but in front of my grandma, no way. What if I did something bad like stripping in front of the house? That would mean my neighbors would hate me forever.
I mean, they wouldn't be able to look at any other hot guy because I'm all their going to think about.
"At least you made it home," Katie said, giving Mason a cup of orange juice. "Honestly Alan, when are you going to stop embarrassing me?"
"What did I do? Didn't you guys bring me back?"
She didn't answer. Instead, shook her head at me, disappointed and hugged grandma May. Then the couple left to god knows where while I continued to stare at the elder people. One of them would tell me, or so I thought. They both just kept giggling to themselves, giving me sneaky glances.
"So, you're visiting the hospital here?"
The laughter died down quickly and grandma May nodded at me. Mum continued to make breakfast. Then I noticed the rice cooker running and turned to the clock. Lunch, she was making lunch.
"Yes darling. It's easier too since your mum has a car. Plus, I was getting bored being by myself."
I scoffed. "I've asked you before to live with us and you said that you don't have to. Why did you sell your car anyways?"
"I didn't need it. Until now that is." she smiled fondly at me and it made my day. My grandma was the best. "You're always right, my sweet handsome boy! I knew you'd become a very smart man!"
I scoffed. I was receiving too much compliments.
"Oh, I don't know mum, there's this other boy in his class. He's smarter and more of everything than your precious grandson." I knew where mum was heading with this and my happy mood crashed in seconds. Seriously, I didn't know what my own mum had against me. "His name is Max-"
"Max fucking Winters, yeah I get it." They both gasped at my words but I couldn't care less. I was sour again and the little headache didn't help. "Stop rubbing it in my face."
"Alan Davis Baker!"
I mimicked my mum behind her back and that earned a laugh from grandma May. It made me smile. "I'm going to shower and head out to play. See ya guys for dinner."
"What about lunch?!"
I rolled my eyes at mum. "I'm eating out. If you want me here, don't mention that idiot's name. If no, invite him over instead. Whatever..."
I showered like I'd said, cleaning up and changing into a pair of shorts and t-shirt. I combed my hair back with my hand and texted the guys to meet at the park a few roads down. Once Drake was up for it, I tied my shoes tight, leaving my room. I'll clean the desk later.
When I made it downstairs, everyone was eating. Dad was there, he eyes me but I only shrugged. I grabbed an apple incase I got hungry, which I kinda was but I would never admit that to mum, and left the house.
Taking one of the extra soccer balls that laid around, I started my walk. Kicking the ball to myself, I made it to the park with Drake and Derick already there, hitting their own. I noticed Brian sitting inside Derick's car with his phone. The side door was open and he had his legs balanced on the side.
"Brian!" He got the cue and closed the door, ready to play. The park was deserted. Not even one child was playing on the swings a few grounds over. My neighborhood was literally dead and it was a Saturday.
After stretching and moving around, we started to scrimmage between the four of us, using the trees surrounding us as goals. Drake and I won, but I couldn't put it on the other two because Derick was more of a goal keeper than anything else.
We sat down in the middle of the park to take a break. The sun was setting and we were sweating more from the heat than playing. Then I remembered that I didn't see Brian at the party nor Derick so I mentioned it. Bad idea.
"But I saw you," Brian laughed hard, leaning back. "Dude, you were so wasted! You kept muttering something about getting you a girl!"
I cursed. Of course I was being an idiot.
Drake chuckled next to me. "Oh yeah, I remember that. I was outside talking to this girl when he suddenly came up to me and starting singing 'get me a girl'. Man, you were dancing!"
I stared at him. No way I did that. Alan Baker doesn't dance.
"So I did just that. I told you to wait while I went and got you a girl but when I came back with a bottle of water, you weren't there. I thought that you either went home or actually found yourself a girl."
"So, did you?" That was Derick and I shook my head no.
"You're one clingy shit man. Don't drink."
I winced. Another bruise to my already wounded ego. Not many people knew that I barely had control of the liquor I take. Somehow, the stereotype of the soccer captains being awesome and perfect at parties, drinking all night long without getting drunk came onto me.
Yeah, sure, I was awesome and perfect at parties, but drinking? Not my cup of tea.
"What happened after that?"
Drake shrugged, "I was too busy trying to get the girl you chased away."
"I don't remember much because I was shitty myself, but then I do remember you running around the house with Max."
That got my attention. Max as in, Max fucking Winters?
I voiced my thoughts and Brian nodded. "He was taking you somewhere and you kept yelling at him. Man, I remember laughing at how stupid you looked." He stared straight at me, laughing between words. "Dude, you were clinging onto him!"
The others laughed, hitting the ground as if that would do anything to make it funnier. I sat there, not knowing how to process the idea of me clinging to Max Winters.
"You have to be joking right? There's no way I was... touching... that dude."
Drake gave me a smile. "Why? Are you allergic to him or something?"
"No!" I paused. "Wait, yes! I hate him! It doesn't matter whether I was sober or not! I hate his guts. You probably saw wrong."
"Yeah Alan, I saw wrong. Dude, I have perfect eyesight."
"No-one has perfect eyesight."
"Shut up Derick."
The guy lifted his hands in surrender.
"Whatever man, I was probably trying to get away from him. Which means, he was trying to kidnap me. Some friends you are. And what did you tell me? You watched us while laughing. Dude, he could've taken drunk me to some secluded place and killed me!"
Drake snorted next to me. "If anyone ever did that, it would probably be you. The dead being Max. Dude, calm down, you got home fine right?"
I shoved him a little. "I did, but Katie and Mason didn't bring me back."
That got the guys attention. "Then who?"
I shrugged. "The idiots won't tell me. My whole family knows but they're hiding it from me. Whatever, the fuck like I care."
There was a second of silence.
"Oh yeah, Drake, grandma May's home."

Guys, don't forget to tell me what you think of the story so far.
And who do you think took Alan home? And, what do you think happened between Max and Alan at the party?
