Chapter XXVII: Scandals

First impressions had always been recognized as the first main key to know anyone in life. It started with an impression, followed by a friend, then lead to a whole new crush. That was in the girl code: The first rule was to never date any girl's crush. It was the golden rule.

The difference was that Becky didn't know that Lucas and I were dating. I wouldn't be apalled if they were together when we were a couple.

Lucas didn't have much morals nor he was raised in a family of principles like I had all my life. Everything was handed to him on a silver platter.

Reign practically barreled into the station, panting hard with his messy long hair and his eyes everywhere. Until they settled on his lover, who was beside me on his phone.

I nudged him to look in front of him and when he did, his cheshire grin was formed on his face as he stood up to take Reign into a hug.

Minding my own business, I analyzed the station that we sat in for Lowe's final signature on paperwork that confirmed his release since Becky was alive. I couldn't see Lucas anywhere, maybe he was with his step sister.

Not that I cared anyway.

When they melted off the barrier between them as their romance crackled, it was my turn for a bear hug by the one and only Reign. He hugged me so hard, I was afraid I would break a hip bone.

He was freshly shaven and the delicious smell of cinnamon made me imaginarily drool. He wore a black full-sleeved shirt with black jeans, his perfect set of pearly whites smiled back at me as he gave me a kiss on the cheek for the third time.

"Good to have you back, how are you Rei-Rei?" I asked him, his eyes got those favorite glints and he looked as new as ever.

"I am doing great, amended things with my family, and you?" He was happy to state that, and I felt happier for him.

"I was doing fine, sleepy now." I complained softly as he got me back to his embrace.

"Lowe is almost done, and then we are going back to our room. It's only a day but it felt like a decade." He opinionated, and I chuckled at the small frown he had on his face.

I was really about to sleep on the floor, but I was relieved to find Lowe with a serene smile on his pretty face.

It felt like a family reunion, which reminded me that I had to check up on my brother and dad tomorrow. I didn't have a proper schedule to talk to them, but I needed to make one as soon as possible.

Reign pecked his soul mate before he drove off to the dorms, Reign legitimately carried me back to his car. My legs felt weary and my stomach pain due to hunger pained me.

The adrenaline was the only thing that kept me awake, but now, I felt the aftermath of holding up. When Reign placed me on the seat comfortably, I declined the chair backward to rest my head properly and my eyes shut off to sleep.

•••

I awakened to the smell of pizza, my eyes flickered for a few moments and I was embraced by my pink cover.

Reign pried the pizza box open as he put pieces on the plastic plates, moving away the recycable bags from the table in front of my bed. He went shopping for food and drinks, another reason to adore Reign.

My stomach made a loud noise, and that was how Reign knew I woke up. He laughed at my embarrassing blush that drew itself on my cheeks.

"There you go, hungry princess." I realized that Lowe and Reign called me the same nickname, which made me smile brightly when I grasped the plate from him, shoving the pizza into my mouth.

My talent was that I could finish two pieces in thirty seconds, my jaw was like a cheese trap; it moved swiftly when I took a bite, while Reign took time to chew on his bites, enjoying the pizza.

"Any updates on Becky?" I queried, my urge to find the one behind that affliction intensified. It was strange how the person who did it didn't leave a warning, or any threats for the matter.

If it was a guy or a girl, they surely just wanted to play with Becky's life. But nobody came into my mind.

Reign sat beside me on the couch while I comforted my back against the headboard when I sat up to chat with him.

"Many scandals appeared on the newspaper, and Lucas mentioned that whoever did this must be close to Becky, he told me that he thought Ivan was the one who did it. Becky's boyfriend, maybe a disagreement." Their thinking was shallow.

No sane person was going to disagree with someone and murder them. If it was the case, everyone in the world would be dead and there would be no world without humans.

"It can't be, maybe it was an enemy to Becky." I contemplated out loud, faking opinions to remove the doubts off of me.

It was mentioned in the rules of lying, a book I read back when Lucas deserted me.

"I couldn't be arsed about her one bit, but people are ignorant to be pointing fingers at Lowe. Without him saving her the last minute, she would have been dead." Reign's blazed eyes only told me how mad he got over the brainless news about his boyfriend.

He was right. Lowe couldn't hurt a fly, he was a lovely swine; taking care of others under his company. He didn't care for fame or attention.

All I knew was that I had two evening courses starting in half an hour. Reign and I were deep in thought, unable to think of who could do such a thing.

What if it was really Ivan?
