Chapter XLIII: Grudge

I was in complete fascination at the double ice glazed windows caused by the snowy winds. My finger twirled on the foggy glass after I tenderly breathed on the window, creating a small circle to doodle on. We were in a Mercedes-Benz, six-wheel monster to get us through the snowstorm into the wide road, it was traversing through the harsh terrains. The compilation of the snow was hard to get across with a normal car.

One quick call from Lucas did the job well and clear. In a few minutes, he managed to get us the bad boy to pass us through. Lowe was flabbergasted that I rejected Lucas, they both thought that Lucas was an angel. Lowe more than Reign.

I blew my snot off using a tissue, I might have came up with a flu from how frosty the weather was. I had already told dad that we were on the way. Tomorrow was my aunt's arrival all the way from Connecticut just to tell my dad about mom. But I was willing to stop her from throwing my dad into danger.

Lucas kept peeking at me through the rare view mirror, but I avoided it like a plague as I gazed out of the window. I didn't want to allow myself to give in to him. I did that once, and look where that got me.

Reign had his head on Lowe's shoulder as the car kept shuffling through the snow, slightly swaying us from the sides.  I scanned the area, we were closer to my house.

A couple of hours breezed by, after going through a snow blizzard that splashed on the windows, and the chilly wind that made the car's wheels tremble for a bit, we were finally here. Reign and Lowe got out to fetch their bags from the trunk.

As I was about to go, Lucas initiated, "listen, Naya, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable back there." His voice was softer than before, as if he was trying to soothe a baby.

"It was wrong of me, but I didn't want you to go by yourself because Reign told me about your aunt and what she is going to do. I just felt like I needed to be with you. If you don't want that, I can—"

"Stay," I interjected in between his rants, he paused and turned to face me, I looked at him straight into his eyes, "it would take you a while to get back and the storm is getting heavier." The hopeful light in his oceanic irises dimmed, and I couldn't care less. He made me that way.

"And here I thought you wanted me to stay so you could be with me." Lucas joked with a coated smirk to hide the sarcasm. I gnawed on my lip, realizing what a terrible idea that was, but it was done for already. It was unnecessary to keep fighting.

Reign grasped my bag with him to help me, his large hand in mine and his other hand with Lowe as we trudged slowly to the house with Lucas behind once he parked. Though I couldn't stand him, he did a great job driving us safely.

Dad saw us through the peephole and greeted us warmly, he looked fresher than before with a shaven beard and dressed up in Christmas sweater with jeans. He was mindful about Reign and Lowe staying, he gave us affectionate hugs before he glared at Lucas.

"What is he doing here?" Dad gruntled into my ear.

"Reign invited him, and he is already here, might as well let him stay." I whispered back when Lucas awkwardly shuffled from one leg to another at the entrance, his eyes lost on where to look with his hands in his jacket.

"Alright, but I am taking my revenge on him for the break up." He enlightened me with his spirit as we laughed lowly, covering it up with our hands before letting him in.

Lucas smiled uneasily at my dad and he just walked away in return. Lowe and Reign were in the living room, so thankfully they didn't witness my dad's death stare to Lucas.

Khai was lazing out on the couch with chips all over his stomach, he saw Lowe and Reign, he looked over to me as if to say 'who are those guys?' as he sat up.

"That's the guy that you said 'he's okay' about, Reign," I pointed to him as he raised an eyebrow at Khai, "and this is Lowe, his boyfriend." It was hilarious how Khai widened his eyes.

Lowe jumped to defense. "Excuse me, you called my boyfriend okay? Look at this form of art right here." His hands did a scan over to Reign, who slyly smirked at his brave boyfriend and posed for Khai.

Lucas tried to hold in his laughter at the scene beside me, dad watched the trio with amusement. I couldn't smile when I was next to him, I had a grudge towards him that didn't let me interact with him in any friendly way. But why did my body and my mind refuse to let me hold my grudge?

Yes, that was right, I didn't have the capability to carry the heavy weight anymore.

"Guys, this is my brother, Khai." I introduced as Khai looked bashful, he was just as gay as them.

"Also known as Okay from now on." Lowe sassed. I was fairly surprised at his newfound confidence, Reign was too as he gaped at his boyfriend.

"Well, nice to meet you both." Khai clipped with a playful glare towards Lowe.

Dad ushered the boys under Khai's leads to the guest room that was arranged by him. I stepped on the stairs with Lucas behind me.

"Late lunch will be ready in half an hour." Dad announced. I was grateful for his cooking skills. Ever since mom was dead to us, he made us crave his food often, he learnt how to cook for us.

Lucas tangled his hand with mine when we reached upstairs and twirled me to face him.

"Let's talk in the room."
