3. A New Person
"The adversities in my life, shaped me to a person I am today."
----
Jungkook and Violet grew up in a very harsh teenage, they had to struggle for years to get to the position they are today. There were times when they didn't have enough time to even eat or sleep. There was a time when loan sharks used to threaten them, they've gone through innumerable miseries but their managing company and their managers- Yoora and Hyun, helped and supported them a lot.
They were able to create this spectacular career because these people became a lifeline in their broken lives.
Thanks to their skills and god-gifted talent they were scouted by a small entertainment company "Jinhit Entertainment" when they were sixteen- the company which is at present, giving direct competition to Starlight entertainment, a huge credit for this growth goes to the top two actors of this company. They were able to climb the ladder of success irrespective of their miseries.
Certainly, there's no alternative to hard work.
Jungkook chose to be a soloist and then simultaneously started acting, while Violet became a professional dancer for two years, then switched to bring a model. Not to mention, she was a supermodel but a news broke out when she was at her peak- the news of her being a scheming person, how she stole a valuable item and blamed it on Jungkook and she tore his piano notes, when they were at the orphanage. The Kim family wasn't mentioned in all this and the only prey to this scandal came out to be Violet.
The past she was running from, again became a huge barrier in her life.
She was caught in a huge scandal and it costed her modeling career. She was forced to leave the industry for good but she was resilient. One thing Park Violet is always known for among her fans is- being the strongest lady, be it in any situation she fell and touched the bottom but never lost hope.
Of course, she was criticized for this one 'scandal' but she consoled herself and took it as a blessing in disguise - she became the top choice in dramas for a negative role, the personality totally opposite of her real one. It was tough to always portray a character she can never be in reality, but that's the speciality of a talented actor.
Audience loved her acting and at the same time also commented stuff like;
"Serves her right, she destroys people's life."
"Oh well, the character she's playing, it impersonates her real personality."
"Gosh! She's so mean. But what can we say about Park Violet?! She's infamous for that adoption thingy. Poor Jungkook."
The hypocrisy.
People easily believe whatever is shown without looking at the facts. Only Violet knew she was wrongly blamed but no one believed her.
But slowly, with passing time, she also started to believe in it.
"Maybe they were right, I destroyed Jungkook's life." She used to think this a lot of times.
But that didn't stop her from expressing her hatred towards Jungkook, she strongly believed he was the one who released the information about their past. Afterall, who else other than him? She still clearly remembers his words,
"You'll pay back for whatever you've done to me."
Surely she's paying back but someone else's debt.
There's no point in proving her innocence, she knows she lacks evidence and so she must bear the consequences.
Jungkook got all the sympathy from people, which in turn made him the flower boy and soon with all the dramas in his bag and his immense talent, he became the "nation's husband". It's not like he didn't work hard, he did, but struggles were more in Violet's life.
[A/N: Oh! Well... in reality too Jungkook is the nation's husband :) ]
These both worked for the same company, but they barely met and their managers made sure they never meet. Whenever, by chance they cross paths, they bicker, fight, curse and pull each other's hair.
It was also an unspoken rule in Jinhit Entertainment that their employees can't talk about the artists personal lives. The Chairman, Kim Seokjin, was close to both Jungkook and Violet, he knew their stories, he understood them and even tried to make them friends again but nothing helped, all they ever did was to fight and argue. None of them was ready to listen to each other's side.
Moreover, Violet's controversy, Seokjin was aware of the fact that the hate comments are negatively affecting the girl. She appears strong, but she's broken, too broken. When no one believed in her innocence, he and his employees did and so, Seokjin became the most respected person in Violet's eyes, just like a family. At least the company and the employees supported her. She's happy with that.
It's not like she didn't try to explain Jungkook, she did, a lot, numerous times, but the dumb boy didn't listen to her side and his anger took a toll on his mind. For four years she tried her best, until this scandal broke and she decided she would never apologize to Jungkook again. This is why they always fight. When she hit the bottom Jungkook was already a top actor and from then on it became her goal to surpass his success, they both had cut-throat competition.
Jungkook too, is no less, he loves annoying her and more than that he enjoys her frustrated expressions but everytime he is asked in some interviews about this controversy, he ignores or dodges the question. There was no official statement from his side.
The company tried their best to make sure these two don't cross each other's path and if by any chance, their schedule clashes, they made sure they don't stay within the parameters of hundred meters distance between each other. They didn't wish for World War three in the peaceful premises of the company, until Mr. Hwang, the director of the drama they're presently working on, came up with the amazing idea of pairing these two competitors to share the screen.
Had it not been for the insane amount of money, sponsorships, advertisements and what not, provided to them with this new drama in which they have to act as a couple so deeply in love, by now these two would've skinned each other alive.
----
"Their lives are terrible. I hope they're alright." The staff muttered while listening to the two top actor's stories. He too, had a wrong image of Violet but now he somewhat saw her in a new light thanks to Mr. Hwang, Yoora and Hyun.
"Time to call them back, we'll have to re-shoot the scene." Mr. Hwang proclaimed and the managers called them back. Soon, everyone got back into their positions. The actors' makeup and hair were fixed for the nth time today and they were ready for the shoot.
"Action!" Mr. Hwang spoke from the speaker.
"Do you trust me Jina?" Haewon asked the girl, caressing her soft cheeks, his expressions perfectly blending with the scene and the script.
'Jina' was Violet's character while 'Haewon' was Jungkook's character in the drama.
"I do, but do you trust me Haewon?" Jina asked the male and he nodded, assuring her which made a huge smile kept up her face.
Even if it's acting, but him trusting her, made an actual smile appear on her face.
It would be a lie if it's said that Jungkook wasn't taken aback by that smiling face of hers. Afterall, Park Violet barely smiled in reality and out of every person she knows, Jungkook would be at the bottom of the list for her to give off an innocent smile.
'It's just acting.' They both thought to themselves.
"Cut! Perfect!" The director clapped and they were back to their original positions.
"At last, you did something useful." Jungkook scoffed, mocking the woman and she rolled her eyes whilst stomping on his feet, making him groan in pain and jump like a kangaroo.
"Serves you right for running that mouth of yours." She smirked at her victory and went away to read the script for the next scene. Jungkook uttered some profanities which she didn't give a damn about, instead she was enjoying that look on his face. The staff didn't mind their arguments anymore, as this has become their new normal.
----
The actress was taking a break in her makeup room when her manager, Yoora approached her with a new offer.
"Violet, you've been invited to walk the ramp for the fashion show hosted by the international fashion brand, Belleza." Yoora informed the woman, who sat on the couch, all worn out from her tight schedule.
"I don't want to attend. I'll never enter that industry again, you know it very well. Why bother asking?" She spoke out frustrated.
"Well, I would've declined but the offer is too good to decline. You have to walk the ramp with Kim Taehyung-" Yoora explained but Violet suddenly got a burst of excitement by hearing his name and she didn't let Yoora complete her sentence.
"TAEHYUNG?! THAT HOTTIE! YOU SERIOUS?!" She squealed, jumping on her position. Why won't she? She has a huge crush on Taehyung the day she saw him at the modeling event. At that time he was a rookie and now he's the face of all the big fashion companies.
"And Jungkook." Yoora spoke looking everywhere but her.
"What about that useless piece of shit?!" Violet rasped, annoyed by his name.
"You didn't let me complete... You have to walk the ramp with Taehyung and Jungkook." Yoora said, showing her the invitation and the woman's smile dropped to the bottom.
"I won't attend." She muttered in monotone and was about to move away when Yoora's voice made her stop on her track.
"You both are invited there for the promotion of the drama and the brand. Violet, it's time to stop thinking of him. You know, it's been seven years already for that incident to happen. You badly wanted to meet Taehyung! You have a chance now, don't destroy it because of your hate towards Jungkook." Yoora spoke and Violet turned her toes walking towards the elder and nodded listening to her.
"I'll... think about it. Give me sometime."
"Take your time and don't worry about Jungkook, focus on Taehyung." Yoora suggested patting on her shoulder and went away leaving the woman in solace.
She picked up the extravagant invitation in her hands and had a good look at it, intently reading the information and her name printed in bold calligraphic letters. She was in a dilemma whether to attend the event or not.
She was lost in her lost thoughts until she heard knocks on the door and the staff was calling her for the next shot.
She made her way towards the set and saw a new person standing near Jungkook. By the looks of it, they were most probably discussing the script. She appeared familiar but Violet couldn't make out where she saw her.
"Violet, meet the second female lead of the drama." Mr. Hwang introduced the girl and Violet tilted her head trying to recognise her.
"Hello Miss Park, I'm Kim Sierra, we'll be working together for this drama. I hope we get along." She respectfully bowed and Violet bowed back.
It's only now that realization hit her, Kim Sierra, the face of Starlight Entertainment and a leading actress is going to be her coworker. Well, they did meet once during the script reading but she didn't pay much attention to others because she was busy arguing with Jungkook.
"Nice to meet you." Violet gave a polite smile to the girl and got back to her position for the shooting of the next scene.
----
"Action!"
"Would you like to go with me, Jina?" Haewon asked in an ever so-soft tone, taking the girl's hand in his.
The scene was perfectly shot in the midst of the beautiful scenic view of the beach and the flowing waves, the cool chilling breeze making their hair blow and the amazing view of the sunset. Everything's perfect for a romantic scene.
In this scene, Violet had to sob and tears should trickle down her face and she portrayed the character perfectly but the plot twist was that she was crying actual tears because Jungkook was holding her hand so tightly that it hurted her. Well, Jungkook was certainly taking revenge for what she did to him a few moments ago.
"Ok!" Mr. Hwang spoke out and the actors were back to their original positions. Violet harshly wiped her tears and nibbled her lips, due to pain.
"Awie, you're such a weak girl Park Violet." Jungkook tsked, mocking the girl and she counter-attacked.
"Want me to kick you in the balls and show how strong I am?" She placed her arms towards her shoulders and the man in front reflexively took steps away from her because he's well aware she will do something as crazy as this and no sane man would like to get kicked in there.
She took calculated steps near the man, now nervous by her and whispered in his ear. Anyone looking at them from afar might think she was pecking him on the cheek but everyone on the set is aware of this 'typical Violet' thing.
"I'll make sure you'll never be able to become a father." She smirked and the man's jaw dropped listening to her.
"You know what? I'm a senior to you, I've been in this industry for much more time than you. So respect me you stubborn shrimp!" He pouted annoyed, flaunting his superiority which the woman didn't give two fucks about.
She scoffed and flipped her hair, rolling her eyes and walked towards her seat reading the script for the next scene.
Jungkook too got back to his seat, after stomping his feet. The makeup artist and hair stylists constantly approached Violet for touch ups and Jungkook sat just a few meters away from her on the small chairs. Since it's an outdoor shoot the set was created on the beach and there were small tents as resting areas.
Violet was busy reading the script when Sierra approached her with a cup of coffee. It was chilling cold today and coffee was the thing the woman was craving since morning, her eyes twinkled up looking at the hot cup and she portrayed a smile towards her new colleague.
"Violet, would you like to have some coffee?" She asked politely and she nodded, portraying a small smile.
