[Chapter 34]
Rhys walked up to the door of the caravan and everyone is heard arguing inside as he opened the door. "I'm telling you! It's not possible! We can't do this." Sasha argued.
"That's not an option." Fiona snapped as the sisters were glaring at each other with their arms crossed, sitting in the booth across from each other. (Y/n) is seen laid out with a new bandage wrapped around her stomach, her wound cleaned and closed up.
"Neither is getting ourselves killed!" Sasha exclaimed.
"One way or another, we're gonna figure out how to pull this off." Fiona said while leaning back as Sasha scoffed and Rhys closed the door.
"Okay, let's start with how we're gonna get there."
"Well, this isn't the first time we've had to get creative. We'll-we'll find a rocket booster." Fiona suggested.
"I'm loving your optimism-" Sasha deadpanned with a frown.
"Hey, come on. Everybody let's- just all just calm down." Rhys said as he tried to defuse the argument, the sisters go quiet and looked at him and he smiled softly, "Thank you."
"All right, guys. It all boils down to this. Somehow we've got to get to Helios, infiltrate Hyperion, and steal Goooortys' Vault Beacon-." Rhys began to gag before clearing his throat, "Sorry that was breakfast. Ahem. Sorry. Without getting ourselves killed."
"No shit, moron." August deadpanned after taking a sip from his beer.
"I just said that like 30 seconds ago." Sasha said, making Rhys frown and going to sit down.
"Everyone knows what we have to do, we're just trying to figure out how to do it." Fiona said.
"Okay okay." Rhys snapped Jack pops up and looked at Rhys.
"How's your tum tum there, buddy? That'll teach you to hit the taco truck." Jack said as Rhys glared at him, "Wow, you got the magic, kid. They should bottle the stuff. Call it weak source. No, no. I'm sure there's-there's greatness in there somewhere. We just-just gotta keep looking!"
"And the only person who could possibly help with the planning for that is (Y/n). Who's still unconscious." Fiona sighed.
"Speaking of which," Rhys spoke up as everyone looked over, "I think she's coming to." He said as they looked at (Y/n), whose eyes opened and her cybernetic eye scanned the area.
"Ugh..." She groaned, Jack watched her and looked at Rhys.
"See? This-This is the magic I'm talking about. We can call it strong will. Bottle that up and sell it, and it will make us millions." Jack said as Rhys rolled his eyes.
"Hey, you alright?" Rhys asked as she looked up at him and the others, staring for a moment before whining.
"Oh god I'm still alive..." She groaned and closed her eyes.
"Well damn- I mean, I'd feel the same if I had a gun wound that kept opening up. I died from a gun wound and that's something." Jack said.
"Well, a thank you for saving my life would be nice." Rhys grumbled.
"Oh, Rhys, thank you so much for saving my life. I'm forever in your debt. What would I ever do without you to be there and keep me breathing?" (Y/n) snapped sarcastically, slowly moving to sit up before flinching at the sting and gritting her teeth together. Rhys places a hand on her back to help ease her up into a sitting position as (Y/n) continued her sarcastic remark, "To-To make sure I don't bleed out and die. Y'know, I'll grant you three wishes for whatever you desire because I'm the last living magical unicorn and you just saved me from extinction."
"Damn, she is hot as hell when she's all sarcastic like that." Jack hummed with a smirk and rubbing his chin.
"What is your problem now all of a sudden?" Rhys asked with an annoyed expression.
"My problem is that my heart is still beating." (Y/n) spat at him as she leaned back and resting an arm over her stomach, "Anyway, what's with all this negative energy that I'm sensing. It's probably the reason why I'm so pissed off right now."
"We're going to Helios." August said, "To get the last piece for Gortys." (Y/n) snapped her attention to him and glared.
"What the hell is he doing here?" She asked and squinted at him before exaggeratingly flinching and covering her eyes, "Oh my god he's such an eye sore in my presence that I've gone blind." Jack snickered at that.
"Just be glad that I was the one holding you the whole time while you were unconscious." August growled as (Y/n) placed a hand on her chest, looking offended.
"I was in the arms of him? Ew. Ugh." She cringed in disgust, "I can't believe my holy body and presence was defiled by the arms of August and his evil, nasty aura."
"Shut it!" August barked with a sneer, "Or else I'll give you another wound to the head."
"Oh please do put a bullet to my brain. You say that like I'm afraid of dying you sack of miserable crap." (Y/n) scoffed, "No wonder Sasha dumped you."
"I'm warning you!" August snapped angrily.
"It's like watching two kids fight." Sasha said as Rhys shook his head.
"He's helping us get the Gortys piece, on Vallory's orders." Fiona cut in, having had enough with their childish dispute, "And we listen to him, (Y/n). Or it's all of us getting killed." August sent her a smug smirk as she sneered and flipped him off before looking at Fiona.
"Okay, whatever. Just as long as he doesn't bother me." She said, "So we have to go to Helios, and none of you know how?" They all nod and she sighs, "Okay, first give me a recap from earlier because I'm not much help if I don't know the situation that we're in." She said as they started to explain to her what had happened. Rhys looked at Jack as they talked with a sigh.
"I could use your help." He said quietly.
"Yeah. Of course you could!"
"Is that a yes or a no?"
"What, you think ol' Jack would leave his meat-buddy hanging?"
"I... honestly don't know how to answer that."
"So, listen, I hate to be a bearer of good news here, but if there's one thing that you know about me, it's that I'm a collector of my rivals' top secret projects. Which I also passed down to (Y/n) because y'know- had to pass down the CEO position to her in case I died and all." He flickered away before flickering next to August, "That's why I'm gonna share this juicy little tidbit with ya." He flickered down from where August was standing to the booth, "Now once upon a time, a few of my guys bor-mm, yeah, borrowed an Atlas shipment that contained parts for one of their top secret projects."
"... you've got the beacon." Rhys said as he pieced it all together and Jack flickered right back next to him.
"And about a zillion other Atlas gizmos too. That's the best tech in town right there, especially their frickin' guns." Jack said before laughing a little, "Oh man. I got-I got this one with a fist attachment so you can literally punch someone in the face before you shoot them! Oh god, (Y/n) thought it was stupid but it was a blast!" He said as his laughs died down before flickering on the other side of Rhys, "What I'm saying is this: I got your beacon somewhere in my office. Get in there, and it's mission accomplished, baby." He said before flickering away.
"I just don't understand how we're gonna do this." Sasha said as (Y/n) sat with them in thought.
"You don't get that beacon, you're all as good as dead." August stated with his arms crossed.
"Oh shut the hell up." (Y/n) sighed as the three women glared at him.
"You're not helping." Fiona said before they looked away and Rhys stands up.
"Oh, great. Captain Obvious wants to speak." August said with a frown.
"Umm, I believe I have some information that is relevant to your interests... The beacon is in Handsome Jack's office." He said and looking at (Y/n), "Your office, Red Eye."
