[Chapter 32]

Her head pounded as she faded in and out of consciousness. She remembers seeing the ground moving, and someone is holding her over their shoulder before falling out.

When she regains it again, she sees Athena and Fiona fighting Vallory through a blurry haze before falling out.

She sees Fiona pinned to the ground by a rocket launcher and a familiar voice as she hung over what appears be a man's shoulder.

"Hahhh. Lilith'll be real happy to see this wretched piece of assassin trash hauled in." A raspy voice said, "And it's a shame that Lil' Red's acquainted to her. They're really close."

"M-Mordecai...?" She croaked out weakly, lifting her head up a bit.

"You needed Athena as much as I needed her out of my hair. I'm glad we were able to help each other out." The voice of Vallory was heard, "No matter how much of a pain that Lil' Red is, I knew we had a deal. Do you feel that Athena? It's over." (Y/n) seemed to gain some of her consciousness as she felt some emotions start to form, weakly pressing her hands against the large man's broad back to slowly push up a bit to look at the lanky sniper, who took notice of her as they walked away with Athena in their haul.

"Mordecai..." She whimpered as she sees the others restrained, "What're y-you doing...?" The man looked at her and sighed.

"We'll explain on our way back to Sanctuary." He said.

"Eh-What? N...No... No...!" She exclaimed weakly as she tried to get out of the man's hold, she then realized who it was, "B-Brick...! Put me down...!" She wheezed as Brick didn't move a muscle, her breaths were getting fast and heavy as she tried to fight against him despite having so little energy and strength at the moment.

"Stop it, (Y/n)." Mordecai said as she felt some tears start to fall.

"No...! I n-need to help th-them...! Agh...!" She feels the pain from her still open wound and she starts to get angry, thrashing around, "Stop...! Why ar-are you doing this...!" She looked up at Rhys and the others as they went by. He looked at her with sad eyes, "Rhys..." She huffed as she began to feel light headed again and falling unconscious once more.

"Damn she's stubborn." Mordecai sighed as Brick grunted in agreement. Rhys watched helplessly as they took her away before remembering Jack and what might happen if he finds out they took her back. Well, he knew for sure that Jack wasn't going to be happy.

"Wait." Rhys called out to them, making the Vault Hunters stop and look back at him, along with everyone else.

"Whatchu want?" Mordecai asked as Rhys gulped softly, feeling all the attention on him now.

"I-I want to make a deal." He said.

"Woah I think I should be the one to-" Vallory was about to protest before Mordecai brought a hand up to stop her.

"What did you say?" The sniper asked as he slowly approached Rhys with Brick following him.

"I was thinking that maybe we can do a trade." Rhys said as Mordecai stopped a few feet away from Rhys.

"You don't have anything that we want." Mordecai said with a frown.

"W-Well we do." Rhys said, quickly licking the corner of his upper lip as he built up the guts to offer a deal, "You let us have Little Red and in return, you can take Athena."

"Rhys-!" Fiona was about to protest before Rhys shot her a look and looked back at Mordecai.

"But we already have her." Mordecai said, "What's your name, kid?"

     "Rhys."

"Well, Rhys, we already have what we came for. Give me a good reason why we should hand our little girl over to you."

"Well-Well uh she's important to both of us, right? You guys consider her family and you guys want her to be happy. And we also need her help on this and she's our friend." Rhys started, "And Athena, you need her too for whatever reason. So she's technically considered important to on a different level. But Red can really help us a lot, and she wants to help us too."

"You do see the state Little Red's in, right?"

     "Uh yeah-"

"She is literally on the brink of death, we let her go with you clowns. And a few days later, we hear that she's been shot." Mordecai said while gesturing his head to Vallory and Rhys understood, "And let me tell you, Rhys. She's not an easy person to kill, not even shoot. She will gut you in a matter of seconds, and the fact that she's literally dying right now!" Mordecai pointed to (Y/n) as he raised his voice, "Means that we made the mistake of letting her go with you."

"Yes I know. And I'm very sorry about that, but she's been pushing through. Really. She's a strong woman, both physically and mentally. But we promise you that if you let her come with us, we will bring her back safe and sound." Rhys said as he reached a hand up, "Scout's honor." Mordecai squinted at Rhys and rubbed his chin in thought.

"I don't know... What do you think, Brick?" He asked while looking at the other Vault Hunter.

     "Lilith won't be too happy."

"Yeah, Moxxi too." Mordecai said, Rhys could tell that he was about to lose the deal before pulling out his trump card.

"Right, they won't be too happy. BUT, you all would do anything to make her happy." Rhys said, "Y'know, counting on the events on who her parents actually were and that whole fiasco...And if she sees that she's at home instead of helping us like she WANTS to, she's going to be really pissed..." Rhys trailed off as Mordecai sighed.

"You play dirty, kid." He said.

"Had to all my life." Rhys admitted as he looked at (Y/n) and back at Mordecai, "So do we have a deal?" He asked as Mordecai continued to rub his chin, looking at Brick, who shrugged as they have a silent agreement with each other. He turns back to Rhys.

"We have a deal." He said as Rhys smiled widely, "But only if," His smile faded away, "She comes back to us alive. And you patch her up, and patch her up good. Got it?" He asked as Rhys nodded.

"Yeah-Yeah! Of course. Thank you, we have a deal." Rhys said as he offered his hand to him, in which Mordecai took it into his hand and the two shake on it.

"Don't mess this up. Because we Vault Hunters remember names real well. Isn't that right, Brick?" Mordecai asked as Vallory had August take (Y/n)'s body from Brick. Mordecai warned pointed at August, "And you, no funny business." He said as August rolled his eyes and nodded. Rhys watched as August held (Y/n) and looked back at the Vault Hunters who were walking away.

"Thank you again." He said as the two looked back at him and nod curtly.

"Good luck, kid." Mordecai said as he and Brick walked away, dragging Athena along with them by her legs.
