"(Y/n)! (Y/n) where are you?!" Rhys calls out as he walked through the empty town. Stars are shining above in the sky as he walked into the desert not too far away from the town. Jack floats beside him as he looked around.

     "Sheesh, that was something back there." Jack says.

     "Tell me about it." Rhys sighed as they walked, "You don't think she'll actually kill herself would you?" He cups his hands around his mouth, "(Y/n)! Where are you?!"

     "What? Hell no! She's way too strong to do that, (Y/n) wouldn't let shit like that get her down." Jack says. They both look around and see someone sitting on top a large mountain of dirt and scrap metal, slowly lifting up a gun. Rhys' cyber eye zooms in on the person and it's revealed to be (Y/n). Both of their eyes widen, "Okay I was wrong, she's gonna actually do it!" Rhys starts to sprint towards the mountain at full speed.

     "(Y/n)!! Don't do it!" He shouted frantically as Jack glitched up to her, on his knees in front of her. (Y/n) ignored his shouts, blood dripping from her nose as tears fell.

     "Stop acting irrationally, (Y/n)." Jack says as his presence is unknown to her.

     "I'm sorry, Jack..." She said shakily and quietly, "I tried to to stay strong... But I just can't..." (Y/n) puts the barrel up to her temple, her eyes down at the dog tag necklace that she gave Jack as a present that he usually wore the words engraved on their making her heart ache. Jack sees it and looks back up at her.

     "(Y/n) stop this. Hey, please listen to me. You are strong." Jack pleaded as he tried to take her hands into his but they only went through her wrists, "Just please don't do this. This isn't the right way to go."

     "I don't think I can take anymore of this pain, Jack..." She whimpered as her hand shook and pressed the barrel of the gun firmly onto her temple, "It just hurts a lot here..." She held back a sob as she placed the hand that held the dog tag to her chest where her heart is.

     "I know you can't baby, I know it hurts. But you have to keep it together for me." Jack begged as he moved closer to her, desperately trying to take her face into his hands.

     "(Y/n)! Put the gun down!" Rhys shouts as he tried to run up the mountain, slipping on a scrap of metal and he frantically tried to stand back up and continue his way up.

     "Please be waiting for me over there, Jack..." (Y/n) choked out with more tears going down her face, "I just want to be with you again and forget about everything and everyone..."

     "I'm right here, (Y/n)! I want to be with again too but not like this, don't do it please!" Jack begged as she placed her finger over the trigger.

     "Stop! (Y/n)!" Rhys yelled as he got closer, reaching out to her. (Y/n) looked up at the starry night sky.

     "The view is so beautiful... I'm gonna join you up there, Jack... And we'll be happy again..." She says softly with a sad and small smile shakily twitching onto her lips and closing her eyes as tears fell, "See you soon..." She says before pulling the trigger and time seemed to slow down as Jack's eyes widen.

     "No!" He shouts before the shot is heard. It's all silent besides Rhys' heavy pants as he forcefully had the gun face away from her head and towards the sky. (Y/n) slowly opens her eyes as looks up at Rhys. Jack let out a sigh of great relief. "Thank god..."

     "What the hell are you thinking, (Y/n)?! Do you know how much damage you could've done to us if you did that? Are you insane?!" Rhys asked with great worry written over his features. His body hunched over with his mechanical holding the gun away from her while his eye scanned her. (Y/n) stares up at him as more tears welled up before she wrapped her arms around his neck and letting out choked sobs. Rhys is caught off guard for a second before he took the gun out of her hand and tossed it a few feet away from them, then wrapping his arms around her in a tight embrace. He rubbed her back comfortingly as she held him tighter, her small frame shaking in his hold while she sobbed. Jack stands and watches the two, wishing he could comfort her as well.

     "I-I'm so-sorry..." She hiccuped within her sobs as Rhys sat down and pulled her shaking body onto his lap, holding her close and nuzzling his face into her neck to calm her down.

     "Don't be sorry, (Y/n). You didn't do anything wrong." He murmured gently, "Just calm down, shhh... It's okay. I got you."

     "I-I got so-so many-y people k-killed, R-Rhys...! It's a-all my fau-ault...!" She cried as she sobbed harder, Rhys pecked her neck and rubbed her back in circles.

     "No it's not. You didn't do anything." Rhys tried to reassure and her sobs only got more worse, hugging him even tighter.

     "Th-That's wh-why...! I didn't d-do any-ything to sa-ave them...!" She slurred through her sobs and hiccups, "Timo-Timothy and C-Courtney g-got killed i-in front of me-me and couldn't d-do anything to save th-them...!" Rhys moves her slightly so he can take the sides of her face into his hands and pulling her into a kiss. Jack would have usually gotten angry by that, but he saw how this calmed her down a bit and stayed silent and watched. Her sobs died down to whimpers muffled against his lips as he pulled away slightly. Blood from her nose smeared a bit above his upper lip but he didn't care. Rhys pressed his forehead against hers and traced soothing circles on her cheeks with his thumbs, (Y/n) hiccuped and whimpered softly. Whenever she felt a sob was gonna come up again, he would place a soft kiss on her lips to calm her down.

     "Shhh... That's it. Deep breaths..." Rhys says softly to the point where it almost came out as a whisper. She took deep breaths to calm herself down and her breaths hitched from time to time with the faintest hiccup. Her nose stops bleeding and the tears stop overflowing. "You good now?Ready to explain yourself?" He asked and she nodded a bit.

     "Y-Yeah..." She says quietly and he places her head against his chest, holding her close and running his fingers soothingly through her hair.

     "So what were you thinking? Why would you do that?" Rhys asks as (Y/n) grimaced in thought.

     "I... I don't know... I just felt like I was doing them a favor because I didn't want to be a burden for them anymore... I just wanted to be with Jack again because I miss him so much..." She shakily answered as Rhys sighed.

     "But you're not a burden, (Y/n). They don't think you are, they just thought what they were doing was right. Killing yourself is what would make you a burden for them because they would have thought as if it was their fault for your death. You would be doing more than what you're not trying to do. Everything isn't your fault. And doing this won't solve anything. Do you think Jack would want you to do this?" (Y/n) bites her lips together as a few tears slip down. Jack looks down at her with a sad expression.

     "No..." She says softly as she sniffled, "He would have wanted me to stay strong..."

     "Exactly. So be that strong woman he wants you to be, he fell in love with you because of that." Rhys says as her eyes glance up at him, the look in her eyes made his heart slightly ache and he sighs, "Look, I know you still love him. More than you love me. But I love you and want what's best for you, so does Jack. I actually dreamed of being with you forever, where we could get married, start a family of our own, watch our kids grow up and have kids of their own, and growing old together." Rhys sighs and bite his inner cheek to stop himself from talking but knew he had to do the right thing, "But I know I can't do that to you and Jack because you two were destined to be together and I want you to be happy." Jack looks at him confusion and (Y/n) stares at him with a sad look on her face, placing her soft hand on the side of his face. He exhales deeply through his nose and leaned into her hand.

     "What are you saying, Rhys?" She asked softly, a few tears slipping down. He could a feel a lump in his own throat and he tried really hard to hold back his own tears.

     "I'm saying that I can't continue having a romantic relationship with you. I wish it didn't have to come to this but I don't deserve you, (Y/n)." Rhys sniffed and looked the side, trying to keep the tears from falling but failed miserably as a few slipped down his cheek, "I-I want you to be happy with someone that you truly love and that's Jack." Jack's face softens by a lot and he's taken back.

     "Kiddo..." He says softly.

     "Oh, Rhys..." (Y/n) says softly as a some tears fell down, she turned his head so he can face her cupped his face in her hands, using her thumbs to wipe away his tears. She leaned forward and placed her lips against his. Rhys sighed through his nose and kissed right back, wishing this moment could last forever and he could have her soft lips on his like this forever too. But it soon ended after a few moments as they pull away slightly.

     "I love you, (Y/n)." He murmured sadly as she hummed sadly back and pecked his lips. Rhys chuckled breathlessly, "And honestly, I wish I met you and asked you out first before Jack did. So then I wouldn't have to let you go like this. But you know, I was too much of a wuss to ask you out because you were and are ten times better than me so I was afraid of rejection." He chuckled, trying to lighten up the mood and she smiled sadly with a giggle. Jack only lets a small smile twitch on the corners of his lips with a roll of his eyes.

     "I wouldn't have said no." (Y/n) said with a soft laugh while wrapping her arms around his neck and pressing her forehead against his.

     "Really?" Rhys asked with a brow arched, she nods.

     "Mhm, but Jack would've strangled you for getting to me first before he could." She hummed with a giggle as Rhys and Jack both chuckle.

     "He would, wouldn't he..." He murmured with a chuckle as he kissed her lips one last time, "So we could still be friends, right?" He asked with a playful smirk. She rolled her eyes and bumped foreheads with him.

     "Yeah sure." She hummed and he smiles as she got off his lap and sat close next to him, she placed her head his shoulder while looking out ahead of them, "We'll be best friends."

     "Even better." Rhys chuckled as he leaned his head against hers and looked out ahead too. Jack chuckles and looked at where they were looking. The two are silent for a few moments before Rhys speaks up, "Hey, since for some reason tonight's the night we're all spilling out secrets, can I tell you something?" (Y/n) frowns slightly with a brow arched.

     "What is it, Rhys?" She asked. Rhys takes a deep breath and bites his cheek.

     "I know this might sound crazy, but um... I can see Jack." He finally says after some hesitation, Jack snaps his attention back to him in shock.

     "What are you doing?" He asked as (Y/n) picked her head up from Rhys' shoulder to look at him in confusion.

     "What do you mean that you 'could see Jack'?" Rhys sighs heavily and looks at her.

     "I can actually see him through my eye," He taps the side of the cyber eye, "I know it sounds like I'm making it up, but it's the 100% truth." (Y/n) takes a moment to process the information as Jack stared at Rhys.

     "Are you sure you want to do this?" Jack asks as Rhys nodded slightly at him.

     "B-But how?" (Y/n) asks in confusion, "How long have you been seeing him?"

     "Well, it kinda started when Vaughn and I first came to Pandora almost a week ago. I found the body of Dr. Nakayama and took his ID, I may or may not have inserted into the port on my head because I thought it would help us track the 10 million dollars we lost. But it downloaded Handsome Jack's AI into my ECHO eye instead and now all I see is his actual AI walking around and talking to me. His AI is way more advanced than other AIs because he's self aware and actually has a mind of his own. So now he's alive but still kinda dead, right now he's just ones and zeroes." Rhys explained as is met with a blank face of (Y/n)'s as he could see the gears turning to process the information.

      "So..."

     "So...?"

     "So is he here now...?" She asks softly, Rhys glanced up at Jack who stared at him intently.

     "Yeah, he is. He's actually standing right there." Rhys says as he pointed at Jack, (Y/n) looks at Jack's general direction and he jumps slightly. But from her perspective, she saw no one.

     "There?"

     "Yeah."

     "Are you lying to me?" She asked with a frown.

     "What? Nonono. I would never lie to you. He's actually standing right there. I'll prove it," Rhys looks at Jack, "Jack, tell me about your first date with (Y/n)." Jack looks at him in surprise and nods.

     "Um alright, well..." Jack starts to explain and Rhys repeated his words to (Y/n).

     "He said that on your first date with him, he didn't want to take you anywhere fancy because he thought it would be too much for you. So instead, he took you to the simulation arena that he used for his military as training grounds. He made the simulation into a world where everyone was at peace and there was rules and laws that made them get along. But they still had conflicts with each other, it wasn't perfect, but it was better than our world. You both walked through the woods together before approaching a calm open field. You two walked up a hill and there sat a little picnic under a big tree, the hill had the most beautiful view of the fields and sunset. He especially loved how the light of the sunset shined over your face. He gave you that gun as a present to you and said that you were what inspired him to create that gun. Jack loved how your face lit up with excitement and curiosity when he showed you new things that you've never seen before like how you tried chocolate pancakes for the first time. He gave you that bracelet for your birthday, the very first day on Helios and he hoped it would settle tides between you both. That dog tag necklace, you gave that to him as his birthday present after he woke up from a really bad nightmare. The words engraved on there is, 'Even if you're not Pandora's hero,"

     " 'You're still a hero to me'..." (Y/n) murmured softly and looking at the engravings on the dog tag, "Oh my god, Rhys..." She says as she could feel a bunch of feelings overwhelm her, "That's amazing." She looked up at him with a wide smile and tears going down her cheeks.

     "Tell her that I'm so sorry for leaving and I would do anything to help her take the pain away." Jack says with a smile on his knees and looking at (Y/n), all he could feel was happiness well up inside of him.

     "Jack said that he's so sorry for leaving and that he would do anything to help you take the pain away." Rhys says with a soft smile.

     "Oh, Jack..." (Y/n) let out a breathless laugh as tears fell, letting out laughs of joy and hugging Rhys. Rhys chuckled softly and hugged back. Jack couldn't stop smiling as he ran his fingers through his hair. The AI looked at Rhys with a genuine and sincere smile.

     "Thank you, Rhys." He says, "Thank you." Rhys smiles and gives him a curt nod.
