Special: October 23
Written for Hashirama's birthday!
Fluff w/ mild amount of cursing (from Hashirama's dirty little mouth).

"Oh crap."
"Anija?" Tobirama raised his brow due to his older brother's sudden and not-so-silent murmur.
"Is there something you want to share with the group, Hashirama-sama?" asked an elderly male who was the head of the Sarutobi clan.
All of the leaders of the ally clans of the Senju were currently having a meeting. They were the ones who agreed on settling in Konoha. Among the concerns regarding the Village, they were deliberating on what to do with the Tailed Beasts. The agenda became much more complicated than what the Senju brothers had initially expected though, and so their monthly meeting which usually lasts for only an hour lasted until late in the evening.
"U—uh. Nothing, nothing," Hashirama answered sheepishly, trying his best to neglect the knowing eyes thrown at him.
During the last half hour, he stopped paying mind on what's going on with the meeting. His gaze went back and forth outside the window, his mind wandered off to somewhere although admittedly feeling a bit guilty. He's the Hokage; he must pay full attention to everything regarding the Village.
But the meeting started to bore him to the fullest. Fortunately, there's Tobirama. The younger Senju would surely relay all the important details later.
Madara have excused himself and already left an hour ago. He told Hashirama that Izuna has summoned him to an urgent meeting.
That's when Hashirama's mind started to fly off to somewhere. This morning, he woke up feeling somewhat off. He's bothered because it seemed as though there's something he was forgetting about and he just couldn't remember it, no matter how hard he tried to. All he knew was that it's something truly important—
—and it was only now that he finally remembered what it was—today is Madara's birthday—!
—and he didn't even greeted him—!
—and he doesn't have a gift yet!
Hashirama panicked. It was late in the evening now and no doubt all the stores in the village were already closed. Given the little time left, he couldn't make something customized and decent either.
He fumbled uncomfortably in his seat. Tobirama noticed this and whispered to his ear, carefully so that the other men in the room won't hear, but definitely annoyed because of his older brother's antics.
"What's wrong with you, anija?!"
Hashirama stiffened. He wasn't aware that someone noticed his uneasiness.
"It's Madara's birthday," he whispered, but apparently, he said it so quietly that even Tobirama wasn't able to hear it.
"What?!"
"It's—"
"Hashirama-sama, do you agree with the decision?" came the question of the Nara clan head.
Hashirama had no idea what decision the man was pertaining to, but he badly wants the meeting to end already so that he could go to Madara.
"Yes. Yes, I agree," he replied way too confidently that Tobirama raised his brow. Hashirama knew that his younger brother knew that he had no idea what he had just agreed onto.
The meeting was adjourned then, fortunately for Hashirama. He quickly got up from his chair and was ready to use the window as the faster route to the Uchiha compound. However, it would be extremely unprofessional (yeah, despite his earlier actions) to bolt out when the other clan heads haven't even gotten out the room, plus, he couldn't ignore Tobirama's unsettling stare anymore, so he asked, "Hey Tobi, what was that decision?"
Tobirama glared at him, making him flinch. His little brother was really scary when he makes that face.
"How am I supposed to know?! We were talking with each other!"
Hashirama frowned. He knew that that was important, but he's got more important thing to do right now. He or Tobirama (but most likely Tobirama) will find a way to know about the decision later.
"I won't be home tonight," he informed his little brother, waving goodbye as he quickly jumped out the window.
As he strode along the main street of Konoha, he was hoping that some shops would still be open. It's already late in the night now but on rare occasions, some shops close down later than usual.
He was silently cursing himself. It's not normal for Hashirama to say unpleasant words, but he couldn't stop blaming himself. How could he forget his beloved's birthday?!
-----
*Flashback
"You prepared this?!" Hashirama exclaimed. Madara invited him to his house that night. Little did he know that the Uchiha has prepared a meal just for the two of them.
It was only a simple dinner, yes, but it was his Madara who made it so it has a whole lot of extra of points with it.
With a straight face, Madara greeted, "Happy birthday, Senju."
Hashirama smiled widely (and stupidly, according to Madara). He quickly ran to the raven then threw his arms around him, almost tackling him to the ground.
"Thank you, Madara," he said with a full smile before placing a soft kiss on his lips.
Madara nodded. "Let's eat now before the food gets cold."
After dinner, Hashirama spent the night in the Uchiha's residence. They did a thing or two before they went to sleep. The next morning, he woke up next to Madara.
It was the best birthday—and morning—Hashirama has ever had...so far.
*End of flashback
-----
"Fuck!"
Hashirama shouted to no one in particular. He arrived to the marketplace and saw that all the shops were already closed. He had already expected it but it was only now that he fully realized how screwed up he was.
With his Mokuton, he could make something...
A figurine, maybe? A replica of himself?
Well, that's just narcissistic.
A replica of him and Madara kissing?
Hashirama himself would like that but he can only imagine the probably unkind words the Uchiha would say once he gives it to him. Hashirama had no doubt that Madara wouldn't like it one bit.
Shoulders slouched and head slumped, he walked to the Uchiha compound.
Fortunately, Madara was not home yet when he arrived. He sneaked in Madara's room through the window then proceeded to the plan that he had just came up with.
-----
Twenty minutes later...
Hashirama heard the front door of the house open, followed by a series of footsteps. He was a little nervous but he couldn't help but smile. From Madara's room, he could vaguely hear what Madara and Izuna were talking about. Hashirama guessed they were currently in the dining area.
A few more minutes passed until Hashirama heard that the two has stopped talking with each other. Light footsteps approached Madara's bedroom. Hashirama readied himself.
The door opened.
"Surp—"
"Kyaaaaaaa!"
"Izuna?! Oh shit!"
Hashirama quickly sat up from his lying position on Madara's futon. He was about to stand up when Izuna suddenly covered his eyes with both hands. It was only then when Hashirama remembered that he was, uhm, completely naked.
"What's happening here?!"
Madara emerged at the doorway only to be welcomed with an extremely horrible sight: an utterly shocked and very pale Izuna and a butt-naked Hashirama sitting on his futon with nothing but his hands covering whatever body part that needs covering.
"Izuna," Madara sighed, gently patting the back of his younger brother to somehow comfort his poor soul, "go to your room. I'm so sorry you've seen...this."
The younger Uchiha was still speechless. He had just seen the Hokage, naked on his Nii-san's futon—he's scarred for life now.
He weakly walked away and went to his own room.
"What's wrong with you, traumatizing my little brother like that?!" Madara scowled as he entered the room, closing the door behind him. He walked towards the pile of Hashirama's surprisingly neatly folded clothes beside his futon.
Hashirama's head was bowed and his straight brown locks acted as curtains, hiding his face from him.
"I'm sorry, Madara. I didn't expect that Izuna would go to your room. I'm really sorry."
Madara shook his head. "Get dressed. You might get a cold," he said, picking up the Senju's clothes and throwing them at him.
"What have you been thinking? Wait, why are you in my room in the first place?"
"It's...your birthday, Madara. And—that was my gift to you," Hashirama mumbled as he was dressing himself up.
Uncharacteristically, Madara chuckled. "And by that, you mean your body?"
"Well..."
"Is this your poor attempt of making up for nearly forgetting my birthday?" Madara taunted as he stood in front of him.
"I'm really sorry, Madara. I didn't mean to forget your birthday. And I'm really really sorry because I have no gift for you, and about earlier with Izuna, too," he apologized, his eyes glued to the floor.
"Idiot."
"Yes, I really am an idiot."
Madara left him and walked towards the bathroom.
"I'll take a bath," Madara announced, but paused at the doorway and turned his head to Hashirama's direction. "You coming or what?" He said rather impatiently, as if he's expecting Hashirama to have already followed him even before he reached the bathroom door.
The brunette quickly lifted his head to meet Madara's gaze. Hashirama being Hashirama, his mood turned a hundred-eighty degrees, nodding and flashing a very wide smile.
After the rather long shower, they dressed up, Madara letting him borrow his clothes.
Krrrrrrr.....
"Well, somebody's hungry," Madara remarked. Hashirama smiled shyly.
"Come on. I think there's still food left in the kitchen."
While Hashirama was eating, they talked about their day, mostly about the meeting with the clan heads earlier.
"Do you want to go outside?" asked Hashirama when his lover told him that he's not sleepy yet.
"Actually, that's not a bad idea."
Hand in hand, they walked on the streets of Konoha, having no direction in particular. The cold breeze touching their skin felt pleasantly good. It's almost midnight and it was peacefully silent.
It's as if they were alone in their own world.
After almost an hour of walking, they ended up in a park in the easternmost part of Konoha, where they found a bench and sat down on it. From here, they could see a great portion of their Village.
"I'm sorry, Madara," Hashirama said, looking intently at the Uchiha.
"Stop it with the apologies already, Senju."
"No, I can't. On my birthday, you made something special for me. Me? I only screwed up. I almost forgot your birthday, I have no gift for you, I...accidentally traumatized your brother. I—"
"It's not a competition, you know?"
Madara leaned his head on Hashirama's shoulder. "What's important is that you remembered." He briefly lifted his head to look Hashirama in the eyes. "But don't think I'll ever forgive you the next time you would forget. And please, don't do that...thing again. Izuna is still way too young to see things like that."
Hashirama smiled. "I'm sorry. I'll apologize to him tomorrow."
Madara leaned his head back on Hashirama's shoulder. They spent the next hour in tranquil silence. Soon, Hashirama felt Madara's breathing even out, indicating that he was already asleep. He performed the hand signals to teleport them both back to Madara's room. He laid him on the futon before lying next to him. He pulled the blanket up to cover them both.
Hashirama kissed his forehead and whispered, "Happy birthday, Madara," before closing his eyes.
