No More Promises

"Haruka!" Her feet carried her as fast as they could up the flights of stairs. Her heart beats raced her to the the fourth floor of the hospital. The scent of formaldehyde was so distinct.
Room 107 was in view, Takane came knocking. Without hearing an answer, she just barged in, seperate to see her loved one.
A tall boy with dark brown hair was sitting up in the hospital bed, a small freckle under his right eye, under the welling tears. He was sobbing to himself quietly.
"Haruka...?"
Haruka looked up from his hospital bed, his puffy red eyes met Takane's tired ones. "Ta...ka..." Takane swiftly rushed to his side, and gripped his shoulders. She looked into his eyes questioningly. "Haruka?..." "I can't do this anymore Takane!"
He broke down into her arms, and she held him against her chest, never wanting to let go...
"Haruka, you can make it out of this, you always do, I know you can!" "No Takane! No more!!!" The once cheerful and colourful boy was now pale and lacked any motivation to keep on living. "Oh, Takane..." he sobbed into her chest, the dark hair girl unsure of what to do to comfort the boy.
She looked around the room, and saw multiple IV bags hanging from their stands. Many tubes were attached to Haruka's weak frail body. "Haruka, you can make it out... I promi--" "No Takane..." She heard his sniffling against her school uniform. "Ha-" "Takane..."
The two spent the afternoon in each other's embrace, there in Haruka's hospital bed, that was until the doctors came and took him away from her again.

The calendar sitting on Takane's desk read Aug 15. Takane was drained of all emotions linked to happiness right now. She just wanted to see her beloved Haruka again. He's been in hospital for the past two weeks, and she hasn't been allowed in to see him. But today, August 15, she would go to the hospital to try and see him.

The door to room 107 stood before her. She slid the door open ajar, looking to Haruka's bed, but he was no where in view...
"Haruka!"
She broke down in tears onto the floor of his room at the hospital. He was gone, she couldn't see him anymore...
"Madam? Can I help you?" A doctor in a white coat and glasses stood in the doorway, looking down at the broken hearted girl. "Haruka's dead!!" She wailed out at him. "Haruka?... He died!?" "Well, yeah!" "He can't be dead... I saw him walk up to the roof five minutes ago...?" "The roof?" "Yeah."
Takane was up on her feet again and out of there. She ran as fast as she could, looking for signs to the roof. "Haruka! I'll be there soon!"
She reached the roof, panting, lungs desperate for air.
A boy in a hospital robe stood on the other side of the safety fence. There was a fence right on the edge of the building to stop people from falling, but, the boy was on the other side? How?
Takane called out to him...
"Haruka!" He turned around, with tears in his eyes. Not a word escaped his tightly shut lips.
His hair looked slightly different today, it had black tips, and his eyes had gone yellow too. "Haruka?" Takane kept calling out to him, but he just smirked. Behind his smirk though, was pain. It was so visible.
He then turned his back on her again, and as Takane approached the fence...
He jumped out of her life, just like that...

"No more promises Takane, I know I can't make it out of this one..."
"Ashiteru, Takane..."
