Kai's pov...

Nothing like the awesomeness of finishing college sooner than expected.

So I was now officially a graduate of college.

Couldn't wait to tell Hikaru.

It was evening and my parents were outwhen there was a knock on my door.

I opened my door to a police officer.

"Kai Fujioka, I have news of your parents.", he says "They were hit by a drunk driver"

At that my hand goes to my mouth as he enters and starts going on about the details.

After an hour my Uncle and Haruhi rushes in hugging me, but I feel so numb, shell shocked

I'm not sure what to do, or think.

What's gonna happen to me, what am I gonna do? Shortly after my Uncle gets here I'm frozen.

"Kai, can we get you anything?", my uncle says.

"Yea can you call Hikaru, I need him.", I say just wanting him here knowing he'll comfort me.

"Ya Kai I'll call him for you.", my cousin says.

Hikaru's pov...

My cell phone rings and surprisingly Haruhi's calling.

"What's up Haruhi?", I ask as I stretch "You never call me."

"You need to hurry over to Kai's now, she needs you.", Haruhi says upset sounding.

"Hey calm down, what's wrong with her?", I ask concerned.

"Her parents were killed today. She's in shock, and when it wears off she's gonna break.", Haruhi says still upset, "She must feel so alone right now."

"Then I'm on my way.", I say as I let her go and throw my shoes on as Kaoru enters.

"Kaoru, we gotta go. Kai needs us", I say firmly.

"What happened?", he asks.

" I'll explain on the way.", I say putting on my jacket as we exit for the car. On the way I tell Kaoru and we both tell the other club members on the phone.

When we arrive I run from the car into Kai's house as Haruhi opens the door as Kai stands up when I enter. Her skin is so pale, and she's expressionless. In that moment she looks so fragile.

"Hikaru.", she says as I wrap my arms around her pulling her close as I feel her body shaking before she breaks down in tears and sobs.

"It's ok baby, I've got you.", I say kissing her head as I lift her up and sit down with my sobbing girlfriend in my lap her head buried in my shirt as Kaoru enters and starts talking to Kai's uncle and cousin.

Eventually the rest of the club arrives but Kai stays against me. She's broken. I stroke her hair as Kai is bombarded by calls she not in a state to deal with, as Kyoya, Ranka, and Haruhi stepped up and dealt with it.

When she calms down, she doesn't make a move away from me, just stays close cuddled against me as I stroke her hair while Kaoru puts a blanket over her and eventually she falls asleep in my arms.

"Ok so here's the situation, Kai has to move. The land lady wants her out saying a minor can't live here alone, and she won't rent to her because she's a minor.", Kyoya says as he adjusts his glasses.

"It gets worse Kai's american Uncle's trying to get custody of her and drag her to the states so he can keep the insurance money.", Ranka says.

"My reports indicate he and her mother never get along, and it's not safe for her because Kai's had multiple suspicious accident reports from visits when she was young.", Kyoya says.

"So its Ranka verse this Uncle?", Tamaki says.

"I wont give Kai up, I'll do whatever it takes.", I say as she snuggles into me trustingly.

Kai's pov...

The next days went by in a blur, with packing, and a funeral. I was staying with the the twins, and still felt numb. I think I was worrying people, due to lack of appetite and dark circles under my eyes from not sleeping enough.

When I tried to sleep i'd end up crying quietly as I try to adjust to my new normal.

Hikaru would come to my room in the morning to walk me down to breakfast, and encourage me to eat, and make sure I was checking my sugar an taking my insulin.

I was actually comforted by his prescence, and I knew I'd be back on my feet quick. Ya having my parents gone hurts, but I've got good people in my corner and I'm tough. I won't be down forever and know my parents would want me safe and happy.

I slowly began to sleep again, and the pain lessened a little as time passed. When Hikaru went to school since I was done if I didn't have a consultant job to do I'd take my board out and skate. The adrenaline filled my blood and it made me feel more myself. Then I'd go to the school for lunch by the Host Clubs insistence and work as a student teacher in the computer classes or helping in the office until club time.

Today was one of those days, so I headed through the halls towards the cafeteria my badge on when I get stopped by some girls.

"Leave the Host Club, you peasant.", says an unpleasant brunette as her friends nod.

"Why?", I ask crossing my arms emotionless.

"Because we don't like the way the Hosts pay attention to you.", says another girl.

"And the twins are mine. I know everything about them.", says a third.

"Really, which is which?", I ask flustering the girl no emotion in my eyes.

"Shut up peasant. Lets give her a taste of what happens to low life's who dare to take our hosts.", she says snapping her fingers as a pair of guys stand behind her and attack me for them.

"Well what do ya know, I was itching for some action.", I say taking my fighting stance as the girls stay back the boys hit and kick and try to grab but generally miss. Eventually one grabs my hair and pulls me against a wall by it before getting a lucky hit busting my lip.. I drop to a knee removing my knife from its hilt and slice my hair freeing me from the bonehead before returning the blade and roundhouse kicking him as the girls cheered for the boys attacking me. These guys could fight, but where they had skill I had skill and experience.

"It's Kai, Takashi lets help!", I hear Honey's voice as the one behind me is jump kicked by a flying Honey while the other guy is suddenly grabbed by Mori and thrown into the wall.

"Kai is our friend and if your going to fight her, you have to fight us as well.", as he stares firmly while Mori grunts as Kyoya and Tamaki come up to us and look me over.

"I didn't start it I swear.", I say to Kyoya as he looks at the girls and the boys with a glare, "No I'm sure you didn't . From the camera's this was an ambush."

"Your beautiful hair.", Tamaki says looking at the hair on the floor.

"They got a hold of me by it, I had to remove it so he wouldn't use the control he had of my hair against me.", I say "Does it really look that bad?"

"Hideous", the ring leader says.

"The twins are gonna be devastated by the loss of length.", Tamaki says "Hikaru likes to play with Kai's hair."

Hikaru's pov..

"Kai's late.", I say tapping my foot.

"So's Boss, Shadow King, Honey, and Mori.", Kaoru says as Haruhi enters. "They maybe held up by the traffic jam in the hallway.", Haruhi says "rumor has it its a fight."

I look towards the doorway as Kai enters in her white ranger hoody hood up, and an ice pack to her face. She talks with Honey as I hop up with my brother and we run over.

"Kai, are you ok.", we say together as I now notice my girlfriend has a busted lip and bruising on her face.

"Some boys ambushed Kai on behalf of some of your fans.", Kyoya says fixing his glasses. "They got a couple lucky shots."

I feel so angry and Kaoru is upset to.

"Here come sit down and while Hikaru looks you over I'll grab me and Hikaru's lunches.",

Kaoru says.

"We already went to the nurse.", Kai says.

"Kai has some bruising on her back from being slammed into a wall and on her face from taking a punch.", Honey says.

"Kai, are you cold why's your hood up.", Haruhi says.

"Cause they messed up my hair.", Kai says pouting.

"It can't be that bad.", Haruhi says.

"One girl called it hideous.", Tamaki says receiving a glare from me and Kai. I push her hood down as she looks towards the floor uncomfortably not meeting my eyes. Then I see the damage, her hair's been chopped off like she was trying to get loose.

"He used it to slam me into the wall, and try to hold me there. I had no choice.", she says her eyes watery.

"Kai, your always beautiful, and your hair will grow back. I'm just glad your alright. Ticked that you got assaulted, but glad your ok." I say tilting her head up. "And no it's not hideous, but if it'll make you feel better we'll go right now and I'll have my stylist fix it so it'll look ok and grow back right.

Then we'll return for club." at which she nods before hugging me one armed since the other holds her ice pack.

She sits with us for lunch and I share my lunch with her, because when she likes things she makes cute yummy noises and she's usually up to try new things. Plus now that she's eating again I want to make sure she's getting enough.

After lunch, I call for the car and take my girlfriend to the stylist to fix her hair that. She eventually puts the ice pack away, but the cut on her lip and facial bruising left irks me. She sits patiently as the stylist works looking nervous.

"Just please don't make me look like a boy.", she said when we arrived," and no poodle cuts."

Eventually they end up with shorter choppy type layered cut. She still looked cute but she seemed to miss the length, although I missed the length too.

"Do you like it?", she asks pulling on a strand nervously so I put my forehead on hers and fiddle with it.

"It's very cute Kai.", I say taking her arm.

We hurry back to school and I fiddle with the ring I bought a few weeks ago in my pocket, waiting for the perfect moment to ask her.

When we arrive the Host Club makes sure to complement Kai's cut. Then club opens and Kai's serving today with her smile on her face, but she's not hosting today, being Kai's day is less often due to being a consultant and having jobs to do. Not that she has to work, I like her here, but it's good experience for when we run my family's company.

She'd decided to put the cat ears head band on and was adorable and hard not to watch while me and my brother did our act.

I couldn't help but notice today three of my regulars would glare at Kai when she came.

"Tea, it's black cherry?", Kai says happily as she comes to us.

"Yes please thank you Kai.", me and my brother say together. "Where did Kyoya find it?", a girl asks.

"Oh he was hanging at my house and amazed at some of the "commoner teas" I had and thought to try some out here. ", she says happily "

And this ones cherry, it's so yummy once you add enough honey." as she pours me and my brothers, and another girl asks for it.

Then she stumbles and I notice her get some hot tea on her hand.

"Careful you klutz, you could of got the twins with your peasant tea!",

a girl says while Kai mumbles apologies while wiping up the mess trying to ignore her burn.

I and my brother then grab Kai pulling her in our arms while I inspect the burn.

"Poor Kai, you've been burned now we'll have to take you home.", I say smirking as Haruhi hands me a cool washcloth for Kai's hand

"And personally make sure you heal, even if it means we have to bring you in our room to play doctor.", my brother finishes as Kai blushes hard while all but the rude girls go on about moe.

"In fact we should take you in the back and finish treating your burn now.", we say together as I lift Kai and carry her to the kitchen followed by my brother. Once in there we treat her burn finish and Kai lets her guard down enough so I can tell it does hurt like it looks.

"Kai what was the fight earlier about?", Kaoru asks.

"Apparently fan girls have goons.", she says "I was told to stay away from you guys and the club." So some rabid fangirl was trying to chase my Kai away. It's time to make something clear then. I take Kai by the good hand when she's done and pull her to the middle of the room.

"I have an announcement to make!", I shout getting the attention " It's come to my attention that there were some incidents with fangirls towards a club member. I want to make a few things clear, and attack on Kai is an attack on us all. Especially me.

Kai, let me make it official. Kai Fujioka, you light up the dark and it drives me crazy being away from you. Please do me the honor, of agreeing to become mine only forever.", I say still holding her hand as I drop to my knees before her and pull out the ring, A hunk off a meteorite making a one of a kind ring for a one of a kind girl.

Kai looks at me her eyes full of love and nods yes, since she's slightly choked up so I place the ring on her finger before I rise up and capture her lips as the majority of fangirls cry about moe. After which the other club members congratulate us on the engagement and I keep my arms around Kai's waist and head on her shoulder contently. She's marked mine now with that ring and any one who touches her is gonna get it from me now.
