Chapter 11
The light of morning sneaks into my room, searing my face and waking me up. I sit up in bed, craggily, and notice that the room is quiet and deserted. Drifting sleepy orbs to the nightstand, I noticed the table clock. It was extremely early.
Yesterday's events unfolded one after another. I feel dirty just thinking about what would have happened if Vedant hadn't entered the room: the wicked man would have raped me. The wicked man was dangerous, and even his gaze on me felt like dirt. I'm still wondering how my little sister got involved with these types of people. Where did Papa and I do wrong in raising her. When did she start hanging out with these affluent, pampered brats? When I get back from this dreadful place, I'm going to tell Papa about everything, and we'll have to come up with a solution for Riya. I cannot see her heading in the wrong direction. Riya and Papa are the only ones I have.
I got ready, stepped downstairs, and there were only a few people. Yesterday's party lasted until 5 a.m., so everyone was asleep. I went to Riya's room, and she too was sleeping. Now that there aren't many people around, it appears to be a lovely location. I ordered tea, and sat on the chair, sipping it. The mountains looked beautiful from where I was sitting. After completing my drink, I really wanted to go for a walk in the garden. I'm confident that once everyone awakens, this place will once again become hell.
My phone started ringing, and it was from Papa; I grinned and answered the call.
"Good morning papa, how are you feeling now?" I wished him while sipping my hot tea.
"I'm good beta, much better than yesterday. I'm missing you and Riya; we still have 5 days to go. This house feels empty without you, daughter," he added, and I missed my father, too.
"I miss you too, Papa," I responded. I desperately wanted to tell him that I wanted to leave this location, but I needed to remain patient. Riya is my responsibility, and I cannot leave her alone.
"I wanted to give you some news, which is why I contacted you so early in the morning. Do you recall Pratap Uncle? from Darjeeling?" He asked me.
I had to rack my head. Maa was from Darjeeling, although most people were unaware of this. We used to visit and stay there on every holiday. I remember Pratap's uncle used to visit us and bring us chocolates.
"Yes, I do now recall him. How is he doing?" I inquired with Papa.
"Sadly, he has passed away. Anup, his son, had called to let us know about it." Papa said.
"Oh, Papa, I'm sad to hear that." I remarked, "Uncle was such a nice and modest man."
"Yes, he was. Do you remember Anup?" Papa asked me.
" Yes, I am a member of Anup as well; as children, we used to play together. I was frequently bullied by him and his sibling. I recalled that even though he never bothered Riya, I was always his favourite target." I said. He was constantly around me, bothering me, and playing tricks on me. However, when Pratap Uncle realized that Anup would bother me, he would hit him.
"I know he was a prankster back then, but he has matured into a responsible man now. He is the principal of the school that he founded a few years ago for the needy. He quit his job in the city to assist with the less fortunate students. He wants all of the kids in his neighbourhood to receive higher-quality education. He operates it along with a few teachers." Papa added, "He asked me to do something, and I couldn't refuse him," and I remained silent.
"He wants you to teach his students at the school for a few days, and I agreed. I couldn't refuse," Papa remarked.
"Papa, I have college. How can I join in middle of my semester? Darjeeling is too far away now." I said. This was my final semester, and I wanted to finish it without any interruption. If I place first again this year, my name will be displayed on the top rank display board.
"I understand; it's only a few days. Consider it," he urged.
"But why did he call me to teach his students, papa?" I asked him.
"I used to tell Pratap that you go teach students at the Orphanage in your free time." he said. "I'll give it some thought, papa. When you've promised me anything, you know I can't say no but only for a few days," I stated.
"Alright, I'll give you his number. When you get some time, give him a call." Papa said, "He's waiting for your call."
"Yes, papa," I said, and after we talked about a few topics, and then Papa ended the call.
I have a vague memory of Anup, who was five years older than me. He would constantly tug my pony or make me weep over certain things. I was his favourite target, but he never bothered Riya. He used to keep my favourite toys hidden, leaving me with little choice but to play with him and his brother.
However, hearing my dad talk about him makes me feel incredibly proud of him. He has now become such a wonderful person. It's a big decision to quit a steady job and return to your roots in order to better the lives of people there. I'd like to meet him as well and admire for his hard-earned labor.
After I finished my tea, I went to the garden, which was chilly and quite welcoming. The weather was cool, so I put the shawl over myself.
As the sun slowly rose, I was walking through the large garden, admiring the beauty of the surrounding foliage, the birds chirping as they made their way through the overcast sky, and the faint rays of sunlight shining on the flowers. Even though the wind was cold enough to make me shudder, I couldn't help but smile. I feel at peace in such serene areas. Although I have lived in a metropolis, I still prefer to spend my time in these types of locations. I am drawn to places like Manali, Nanital, and Darjeeling. I would spend the rest of my life living in such areas. But that is impossible; I simply cannot abandon papa and Riya and begin living alone.
I was just taking in the scenery when I noticed someone smoking in the distance. Since this place is full of perverts and I don't want to see someone like this again, I decided to ignore it. The man soon turned around, however, and he was Vedant. He looked extremely gorgeous; he has a gift for looks and is well aware of it. He exuded confidence and walked with elegance; there was something charming about him.
Yesterday, I searched for him on Google and found a lot of information about him. His father and grandfather were each billionaire, making him the wealthiest man in the city. When he was young, his mother passed away. The publication described him as a diligent man who worked tirelessly to elevate his success to new heights. However, why is he in this location? For a crazy adventure, perhaps. I thought he was a playboy when I first saw him, but the newspaper claimed he was the most eligible man and the ideal man of dreams. There is no rumor regarding his girlfriends, and he is not associated with any celebrities.
Anyway, it was best to stay away from everyone. I simply spun around, twisted my leg, yelled, and collapsed. I was simply rubbing on my leg when I smelled him. He smiled so delicious and primal that I simply wanted to keep smelling him.
He whispered, "Are you okay?" in my ear. I simply nodded.
"Allow me to assist you." He put his hand around my waist, held me tenderly, and helped me to get up. He must have felt the whole weight of me, and now I felt ashamed. As soon I got up, he took his hand from my waist and I instantly missed the warmth. God, Harshita, what are you thinking? He was only trying to help you, I reminded myself.
I said "thank you" and sat down on the bench. I was unsure if I could walk properly. When I looked down, I saw a gigantic stick, and I had kept my leg on it, which caused me to lose my balance.
"Are you in pain? Should I call the doctor?" he said again. I was staring at him in awe as the sun kissed his face. The colour of his eyes was hazel. His hair was nicely arranged, but a few strands were falling on his forehead, and I was dying to move them away from his face. I kept staring at him. He waved in front of me, and I stepped out of my trance. God, what was going on with me? I was staring at him.
"No, no, no....I'm fine," I stammered. I assumed he would leave, but instead he waited and eventually sat next to me. My heart was pounding wildly. The reason might be that, except from my papa, no man has ever sat that close to me in bed.
"There were bloodstains on your dress." He said, "Do you want to see if you are injured?" and I noticed a blood patch on my pants. I stooped to slowly open it, but I was unable to touch my feet due to elbow agony.
"I'll check it later," I said, but he took my legs and held it on his muscular legs, leaving me speechless.
"What are you doing, Vedant? It's okay," I murmured, attempting to take my leg off, but he gripped it tightly.
"May I?" he asked him. I attempted to free my leg from his grasp, but he held it there.
He slowly lifted my churidar, and there was this blood patch. He got a handkerchief from his pocket, cleansed the wound thoroughly, and then tied it. I glanced at him the entire time; he was really stunning. I now understand why Riya and her friends want to be with me. A stunning masculine beauty. His hands were so strong, and they were clutching my legs so tightly that I was getting wet down. This shouldn't be happening, but it was, and I couldn't control my emotions. After placing a cloth around the cut, he began messaging my legs properly, and I felt relieved. His hands were like magic.
After some time, I removed my leg from his pant. This was embarrassing for me now.
"Vedant, I'd like to thank you for yesterday's event. I'm not sure what would have occurred yesterday, but you saved my dignity. "I said.
"How many times do you want to say sorry?" He was visibly annoyed. This is who Vedant truly is: an arrogant ass.
"I just..." I was about to continue when he interrupted again.
"Get to the point, Harshita," he said, and when he used my name, something deep inside me changed.
"Let's not hold grudges against one another." I said.
If I had to stay here for another four days, I needed to have someone close by, and Vedant was the only one I could trust for the time being. There were perverts around, and I did not want to be alone with any prey.
"sure. There's a bonfire this evening. Are you going to come? Your sister will be there. But keep in mind that this is not your typical campfire. So be prepared," he warned before walking away without a smile. I finished one adventure yesterday, and another one was on its way today. God, I wasn't expecting this. But I had to prepare for today.
