Chapter 9: The Butterfly and the Dragon
Will's P.O.V.
I go back to sleep for the rest of the night and at a time I presume to be right since I'm not tired now. I look outside and as I expected, the sky is still pitch black. I wonder what to do but suddenly, Norasha bursts in the room without any warning and what I suspect to be no hesitation whatsoever. "WILL!" She shouts extremely loudly. "WHAT!?" I shout back, frustrated at this sudden moment. "Look!" She says and holds up a jar which contains a butterfly but this butterfly is different. It's a red butterfly with a red aura around it... No wonder she's freaking out. "Is-is that normal?" I ask just to be sure if this is or isn't out of the ordinary for this world. "No, it's not! It's weird to even see a butterfly!" She tells me. "Are you telling me it's weird to see butterflies here?" "Yeah, they're usually in your world but we don't have butterflies! That's so weird." She answers. This world seems to have a ack sky, those big black things and magic Queens but no butterflies!? I don't even know what to believe at this point. There might even be dragons.
"I'll go find Queen Caroline. Maybe she'll know what to do about it or why it's here." Norasha says. "Can I come along?" "Ok? Why, though?" She answers with another question. "Well, there's not really anything I can do and besides, I have to follow you and Daphnea around or I might die." "That's actually pretty good point." She says and we walk to her room with the red butterfly in the jar which could be magic. We make it to her room in the time I don't think took a minute. Norasha knocks but there's no answer. She knocks the second time more loudly but still no answer. "I'm coming in." She says as she opens the door. "I thought it would be locked." Norasha says to herself. We peek in but nobody's inside. I thought a more sensible and responsible guard would look around for her somewhere else but she goes in. I think of telling herwe probably shouldn't be in here but my curiosity gets the better of me. I go in with her and the first thing which peeks my interest is a mannequin with a fancy, red dress (The same dress on the picture at the top)
"Why are you two in here?" I hear a familiar female voice say behind us. It's Caroline. I look behind me and see her not angry but she looks curious as to why we're in here. "Queen Caroline! We uhh... We found this!" She anxiously says as she holds up the jar with the peculiar, red butterfly. "A butterfly! Where did you find a butterfly?" Caroline asks in complete shock and has became even more curious than seeing us in here. "I found it just fluttering around outside the castle. What should we do with it? Do you know why it's here?" Norasha says, asking a couple more questions but still answering Caroline's question. "I don't know how it got here... That's why I asked. I don't know what to do with it. Oh, let's keep it safe and breathing. We need to find or make a place where butterflies are comfortable with. I'll keep it in the Garden. I just hope it doesn't escape." She says as Norasha hands over the jar. Caroline walks out of the room and I'm pretty sure she's going to her Garden. I wonder what it looks like but I'll check it out some other time.
We exit her room. "I'm glad she didn't overreact. I don't know why I was so scared." She says as she shakes her head. Honestly, I don't feel like getting escorted by her and Daphnea. Sure, this may sound dangerous but I'm sure I've been here long enough to notice. She's walking the opposite direction of where im sneaking away. I don't even think she knows I'm getting further and further and further away from her. I sneak while glancing over my shoulder to her a few times till she's no longer in my sight. I stop sneaking and walk around normally. I walk through the halls and find an unfamiliar place in the castle with a staircase leading down. There are of course bound to be more halls I haven't seen since this is such a huge castle. I go down it, assuming it's not against the rules to go down here. I get downstairs and the first thing I is abig open door with a note hanging on the knob. It says... 'Don't enter. Queen and and highly ranked Guards only' Just like in her room, my curiosity once again gets the best of means I walk in. I hear the sounds of growling.
The growling sends shivers down my spine but I continue on. I sneak so nobody knows I'm in hear along with who or what is making those growls. I realize how big this room is and it doesn't even seem like a room anymore but a dungeon. No Guards around though. Not even prisoners even though I see cells with bars. Even the bars are big! Big enough to have dinosaurs in them but why? Such unnecessary space unless they had many prisoners at a time in these cells. I get closer to the growling and realize what the noises are and I definitely wasn't prepared for what I see now. A Dragon! It's black and purple. Is that why these cells are so huge!? It of course sees me and thrashes around. It whips it's tail about and chips the stone wall which sends stone my way and hits my head. I think fast and run. I close the door but can't lock it since I don't have the key of course. I run up the staircase and am now at the hallways of the palace again, thankfully.
(Dilara and the others are still looking for Will and are now building shelter on the surface)
