Harry and Teddy

The automatic glass doors opened as I walked into the supermarket behind an old lady with a walking stick. I quickly dodged round her, picking up a basket before scuffing down the vegetable aisle. I bypassed all of the different coloured healthy foods and narrowed my aim on an aisle I reluctantly had to visit.

I huffed, frowning as I peered up at the cat food on the top shelf. Shaking my head I wondered why they had to stack it out of my reach. It wasn't even my bloody cat, it belonged to one of my flatmates. I was unwillingly nominated this week to buy it's food. Grace had refused to get it for the same reasons I used last week. Mainly the fact that she didn't want to look like a crazy cat lady. Which now I inevitably did. I bent my knees, jumping up. My fingers grazed a couple of the cans, knocking them off balance. I stepped back as they fell to the floor. Quickly picking them up I placed the food into my basket before making a speedy exit from the pet section.

Oh, this just wasn't my day. Once again I stood staring up at the furthest shelf from my reach. I was now in a more familiar area of the supermarket, the chocolate aisle. I looked longingly up at the largest jar of Nutella. Setting the basket down on the floor, I placed my right foot on the bottom shelf, gripping onto middle ones with my fingers. Even with my new found height I still wasn't able to reach the jar, it was one of the last ones on the shelf, pushed to the back. I swiftly turned my head upon hearing a deep chuckle.

"Let me get that for you." He spoke in a husky voice.

I stepped down allowing him to lean up and retrieve the object I was fighting for. His towering height made it look easy, he grinned handing me the jar. My breath seemed to hitch in my throat; he was the cutest guy I had ever seen. Big green eyes sparkled at me, his dark curly hair poking out from underneath his grey beanie. I nearly melted inside as I noticed prominent dimples indented in his cheeks.

"Thank you." I spoke quietly.

"You're very welcome." He replied, still with a smile on his face.

I inwardly cursed whilst mentally face palming myself. This meeting couldn't have come at a worse time. Not only did I have my lonely largest-jar-of-Nutella-look going on. But I also emitted crazy cat lady vibe.

"You have a cat?" he questioned.

"Umm, it's not mine, it's my flatmate's."

He smiled down at me.

"I'm Harry." He held out his hand for me to shake.

"Teddy." I accepted his gesture, placing my smaller hand in his.

His touch was warm, which contrasted to the rough feel of his fingertips.

"Like the bear." He chuckled.

I nodded silently.

"That's cute."

I blushed at his comment. My hand slipped from his lingering hold down to my side.

"D-do you think I could get your number?" He asked less confidently.

I paused, not really understanding why he would want it. I mean, he had seen me with my Nutella and cat food; the items in my basket should have scared him off. But still he looked at me expectantly.

"Oh, erm, yeah of course." I stuttered.

He dug around in the back of his jean's pocket before pulling out his phone. My fingers accidently grazed his as I took it from his grasp. I fumbled for mine, quickly handing it to him. We stood for a few seconds typing in our numbers. He had finished before me; I glanced back up to see him smiling down at me. I blushed slightly as I handed his phone back.

"Thanks, Teddy."

The cliché fluttering of my heart commenced at the sound of my name from his plump lips. We stood looking at each other for a few seconds before Harry snapped out of his daze. Someone shouted his name from behind me.

"I umm.." He stuttered.

"Haz, there you are."

A blue eyed guy came bounding up before trying to pounce on Harry, who hastily shrugged off the hold.

"Louis." Harry harshly whispered.

It was then that the guy noticed me. I smiled at him, a gesture which he mirrored.

"Oh, I'm umm interrupting something, aren't I?" Louis raised his eyebrows.

"Yes." Harry bit back.

He flicked his head, an indication for Louis to leave us. Harry's friend shuffled away further down the aisle.

"I'll go and look at the....spaghetti hoops." He smiled before waving at me.

I laughed, returning the gesture. Harry sighed in relief, only to tense up again a few seconds later.

"Haz, I'll get that ointment for your rash!" Louis shouted back, pointing toward the medication aisle.

The statement was spoken loud enough for people to turn their heads away from the items taking their interest of the shelves. I peered back up to Harry; his eyes were squeezed closed in embarrassment. Pink splashed his cheeks. He hastily looked to me. I heard him mutter an "Oh god." under his breath.

"H-he's only kidding." Harry stuttered.

I laughed, Louis obviously only doing it to tease him.

"Umm, I'll text you." He grinned.

I nodded silently, unable to wipe the smile off my face. His body turned, urgently walking to Louis who was waiting near the end of the aisle. A giggle released from my lips as watched Harry playfully pull Louis into a headlock, dragging him away round the corner. A pained cry followed shortly after.

Upon hearing the doorbell, Grace and Alex squeaked.

"He's here!" They shouted to my room.

I skidded down the hall to where they were waiting.

"Go, go go." I ushered them into our living room.

"Quick, get the door." Alex pushed me into the hall again.

I swung the door open to find two of the most adorable things ever stood on the doorstep. I couldn't help but reciprocate Harry's grin that spread across his face. He pulled the teddy bear out from under his right arm, before holding it in his outstretched hands towards me.

"This is for you.....his name's Bert."

I laughed at his cuteness, gratefully accepting the sweet gift.

"Thank you." I gushed. "He's adorable."

I rubbed my fingers over the soft fur, smiling. I held the bear to my body before placing a hand on Harry's chest, leaning up to his face and placing a small kiss on his cheek. I drew back, both of us blushing slightly.

"Awww."

I turned to see Grace and Alex's heads peeking out from the living room door. Harry peered round my body to my two best friends. A broad smile appeared as he waved at them. They giggled in response. I caught hold of Harry's large hand pulling him indoors. Warmth tingled through me from where we touched.

"Be back in a sec." I smiled.

I rushed to the living room.

"Oh my god, he's so cute." They spoke together.

"Shhh." I tried to quiet them. "Here, you look after Bert." I handed the teddy over to Alex.

"Will you two be up when I'm back?" I asked.

They faced each other, smiling.

"Of course we will, we want to hear all about it!"

"I love you guys." I quickly spoke before walking back to Harry in the hall.

I found him stroking the grey tabby winding in and out of his legs. His fingers scratching behind the feline's ears. We watched Harry bend down to pick up the cat. All three of our heads tilted to the side in unison getting a better look at him. He had quite a nice bum, something I'm sure my friends agreed with.

"I bet he'd be great in bed." Grace spoke not too quietly in my ear.

"G!" I harshly whispered.

Harry turned round to us before I grabbed hold of Grace's wrist.

"What?" She asked innocently. "It's the arms."

She tried to imitate doing push ups whilst she stood. I smiled at Harry, a gesture which he mirrored.

"Be back in a minute."

I dragged her into the living room, terrified she would say something else. I left him talking to Alex.

My hands gently shoved her through the doorway, safely out of Harry's hearing range. I stood for a second before shaking my head disapprovingly at my friend as she laughed. But my mind wouldn't let me leave, Grace's inappropriate comment sparking my interest.

"How can you even tell, he has a coat on?" I continued our conversation.

"I have an eye for these things. And anyway, don't tell me you've never thought about running your fingers through that gorgeous curly hair, while he knocks you into his headboard."

"Oh my god." I laughed. "I doubt I will find out tonight, or in the near future."

"Why the heck not?" She threw her arms in the air.

"Because I'm not a slut."

I heard her laughing as I exited the room and walked into the hall. Harry still held the tabby in his arms, whilst he listened to Alex talking.

"And another night we found her in someone's back garden on one of those kid's bouncy castles." Alex jumped up and down slightly to make sure Harry knew what she meant. He stood there laughing. "She was just sat there with a traffic cone on her head. It's pretty safe to say she can't handle her drink. She gets squiffy after one Pimms!"

I squeaked, rushing over to Aleex planting my hand over her mouth.

"I think that's enough sharing for one night."

Harry laughed as he handed the cat over to Alex.

"Let's get going, shall we?" He suggested. "Nice to meet you." Harry gestured to my friends.

I nodded grabbing my coat from the hook and slipping it on. My hat was pulled onto my head as we made our way towards the door. The wind whipped round as we stood on the top step. I was a little surprised when Harry caught hold of my hand, entwining our fingers as we walked down to the path. My head turned to see my friends watching on from the front doorway.

"Oh my gosh." I mouthed at them dramatically, nodding down to mine and Harry's connected hands.

They giggled at me, giving a thumbs-up. We didn't have to walk far before stopping in front of a red car. Harry grinned at me, opening the passenger door, allowing me to climb in. I thanked him and watched as he jogged round to the driver's side.

"They're doing a late-night thing. Thought it might be fun."

He shifted on his feet as we stood outside the building on the seafront. Harry nervously brought his bottom lip between his teeth. His vision flicked from my face down to his converse as he fiddled with his fingers.

"I love the aquarium." I grinned.

A look of relief washed over his beautiful face. I grabbed his hand, tugging him to the entrance of the underwater world.

Harry continued to laugh at me as I pressed my hands to the thick glass of the octopus tank. I peered round the water with a frown.

"I'm telling you, it's not in here."

He came closer, standing next to me. Our arms brushed as he mirrored my posture. I noticed how much larger the span of his hands were compared to mine. His green eyes scanned the dense water before they stopped at a spot towards the back. Harry leaned down slightly to my height, his face close to mine, still focusing on the tank. He brought a long index finger up to the pane.

"There." He pointed out. "Can you see it?"

I narrowed my eyes on the area he was calling my attention to. A happy gasp escaped my lips as I finally saw the dark octopus hiding at the back. The animal's camouflaged skin proved a valuable disguise against the murky background. Harry's head turned to mine before suddenly becoming aware of our close proximity. He moved back slightly, waiting for me as we moved onto the next tank.

"So your full name is actually, Teddy. I thought it was short for something?" Harry enquired.

"Yep. My parents couldn't decide on what to call me. My dad brought my sister to the hospital to meet me and she put her teddy bear in my cot. When she tried to get it back I wouldn't let go. Teddy just kind of stuck." I smiled.

We were now in front of a smaller tank. I watched as Harry walked round the outside, eyes darting to the different coloured seahorses. He grinned at me, his body wavering through the clear water as he stood the other side of the tank.

"Well, my name sounds boring now." He joked.

"I thought Harry Styles sounded like the name of a secret agent." I admitted.

He strolled back round to me, his towering height forcing me to look up. I watched his face as Harry pondered over my statement.

"Hmm, never thought of it like that."

Green orbs stared at me as he smirked. I held his eye contact before something caught his interest behind me.

"Come on." He gripped my hand, pulling me over to where a small group was gathered.

"...and that's why they're called Stingrays." An older woman explained. "Would anyone like to have a go at touching them?"

Before I knew it we were stood round the edge of the low, open topped pool. We watched as a few of the creatures skimmed the surface of the clear water. Others glided deeper down across the sand at the bottom. I was a little nervous about reaching out to them.

"I'll do it with you." Harry suggested.

I smiled, feeling more comfortable to have someone with me. He stood closely behind me, my back lightly touching his chest as he leaned forward. I reached my hand out with his as a Stingray swam close to us. Our fingertips brushed over the slippery skin as it passed us round the tank. I turned my head to smile at Harry, he was already looking at me, a grin spread across his face.

"It feels weird." I crinkled my nose.

He deeply chuckled at my observation. We spent a little while longer with the flat looking fish. Harry then taking my hand and guiding me to a more dimly lit part of the aquarium. We talked, walking together to the largest exhibit in the building. The one that always attracted the most amount of visitors. The shark tank.

The tunnel allowed you to walk under the water, something that fascinated me. It was an experience that took me back to my childhood. I neared one of the clear curved walls, staring with my mouth open as sharks weaved through the water above my head. Smaller fish darted around, their quick movements a vast contrast to the larger man-eaters.

I couldn't help but jump back as a black-eyed shark skimmed past the glass in front of me. It's grey body turning at the last second to avoid a collision with the transparent barrier. My body stumbled slightly into something hard. A pair of large hands held my hips, preventing me from falling.

I looked back to find Harry peering down at me, a cheeky grin on his face.

"Thanks." I shyly replied.

We stayed close, continuing to observe in wonder at the sea life. Harry felt warm against me. It seemed silly to think, having only known him for a short amount of time, but his presence made me feel safe.

"I always wanted to be a mermaid when I was little." I paused. "Thinking about it, I still kind of want to now." I admitted.

I felt Harry laugh behind me, his fingers tracing on my back. I realised then he was fiddling with the ends of my long hair.

"Well, you definitely have the hair for it."

I giggled at his comment. We stayed quiet for a little while longer.

"How old are you?" I enquired.

"Twenty-one. You?"

"Twenty."

"Do you have any siblings?"

"I have an older sister, she can be a pain in the arse sometimes. But I still love her."

I lightly laughed at his response. My head rolled back onto his broad shoulder as one of the smaller sharks drifted over our heads.

"Favourite film?" I questioned.

"Umm, Love Actually." He replied.

I nodded appreciatively of his choice.

"Yours?"

"Iron Man."

He kept quiet so I turned round to look up at him.

"Well, that's made me sound very masculine." He laughed.

I giggled as Harry proceeded to flex his right bicep. My fingers playfully wrapped round his arm, testing his muscles. I teasingly let out a "meh" noise whilst shrugging before strolling away.

"Not as good as Tony Stark." I called back over my shoulder.

"Hey!"

I heard him jog up behind me, before moving to stand in front of me. I continued to walk forward and he walked backwards.

"That's not very fair." He laughed. "I could be your Iron Man." Harry spoke playfully.

"I'm sure you could." I smiled, shyly.

It was safe to say I definitely liked Harry. I found him, unbelievably cute, not only looks wise but personality too. He had a certain charm about him, something I had rarely seen in anyone else. He made me feel safe. I couldn't stop smiling as I noticed Harry steal lingering glances at me every now and again. I hoped he liked me too.

Before I knew it we were walking up the steps to the flat I shared with my best friends. I didn't really want our time together to end. The date had flown by. We stopped outside the front door.

I knew Grace and Alex were probably watching from the window, but I didn't care. At that moment in time my focus was completely on Harry. I held my keys in one hand. His long fingers carefully playing with the tips of my free one before he raised his head, looking at me.

"I umm, I had a great time." I smiled.

"Me too." Harry grinned." Teddy?"

"Mmm."

"I really like you." He spoke quietly. "D-Do you think we could go out again?"

His nervous gaze stayed fixed on me. But his face soon lit up as a smile spread across my lips nodding my head.

"I'd love to."

We stayed looking at each other for a second before Harry broke the silence.

"Can I kiss you?" He nearly whispered.

"Yes." I didn't hesitate to answer, quietly.

Harry stepped forward. My breath hitched in my throat as he leaned closer. Warmth radiating from his body, a contrast from the cool air around us. His sparkly green eyes locked with mine. I could tell he was anxious as well. I let out a small giggle as our noses bumped, lips barely grazing.

"I'll go this way." Harry quietly laughed, nodding his head to the right.

We leant in again, this time our lips made contact. My lashes fluttered, eyes closing at the tingling sensation Harry's mouth gave me. His lips were soft and warm. The kiss was sweet, only lasting for a couple of seconds. Harry drew back as I opened my eyes. His pink tongue slipped out, running over his plump lips as his gaze fell down to mine.

"C-Can I..."

His sentence was cut short when I leant forward again. My mouth hovered over his as I waited for him to close the millimetre gap. And he did. My fingers went to the back of his neck, playing with the small curls and the nape. Harry hummed in approval against my lips. One last peck was left on my mouth before his presence was withdrawn.

"I, umm, wow." He spoke.

I giggled at his reaction, my hand raising to brush my fingers over my lips. My arms wrapped round his waist, his round my shoulders as I gave him a hug. He smelt gorgeous. Reluctantly I removed myself from him.

"I'll call you tomorrow." He smiled.

I bit my lip nodding. Harry jogged down the steps from the front door of my flat. He glanced back up to me when I called his name.

"Text me when you get home safe."

"Will do!"

I didn't have time to put the key in the door before it was yanked open. Alex and Grace practically jumping on me as I walked inside smiling like an idiot.

"OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" They gushed.

I was dragged to the living room and pushed to sit down on one of the sofas. They shared the footrest in front of me, waiting for me to say something.

"You. Harry. Kissing." Grace squeaked.

"I'm assuming it went well then?" Alex encouraged.

"Bloody hell. He's the most adorable human being to walk the Earth."

They laughed at my response before Grace raised her hand for quiet. Her eyebrows rose, a serious expression on her face.

"But hot enough to have mind-blowing sex with, right?"

"Oh god." I mumbled under my breath, pink splashing across my cheeks.

"That's a yes then." She confirmed. "But seriously, he's like a freakin' tree......you have to climb that." She nodded eagerly before turning to Alex who agreed.

"Do you have to do that with everything? I couldn't look at his hair without thinking about what you said earlier." I joked.

"Hey, sexual innuendo and inappropriate comments are part of my charm." She winked.

The girls continued to ask questions about the date before we were interrupted by a buzzing from my phone. We all silently looked to the source of the noise then back at each other. It then became a bit of a scuffle as to who grabbed the phone first. Alex was the victor.

"It's from Harry." She gushed before I quickly snatched it from her.

From: Harry

"I'm home :) Had a great time, can't wait to see you again. H x"

I peered back up to my friends with a slight blush and a shy smile.

"Marry him!" They both shouted in unison.
