Ophidian
Draco, Daphne, Millicent, Pansy, and I sat down at the end of the Slytherin table meeting up with the twins. Draco and Pansy, Spark on my right, and Daphne and Millicent, Coal on my left. I sat on a silver throne like chair with emerald green basilisks and pitch black grims with blood red eyes on either side. When I was seated and comfortable the snake of the flag started to hiss uncontrollably.
Severus
I was sitting at the staff table when Ophidian, Draco, Pansy, and Millicent met up with the Serpentine twins and sat at the end of the table, the snake of the flag started to hiss. It began to move like it was in a cage. The sound of it made the hall stop and start to stare at the Slytherins.
I decided now would be the ideal time to give out the schedules. I grabbed my wand and stood up walking to my house table and as I walked by each student I flicked my wand, making the schedule appear in front of them. When I got to Ophidian, I personally handed him his schedule and bent down.
"I would like to meet with you in the common room... With your friends."
He just nodded and looked at the schedule.

Just as I finished reading the schedule a snake dropped onto the table.

Looking up at the flag I saw that the snake wasn't there. I then looked at the snake and recognized it. The snake from the flag. Heading to me.
I wasn't scarred, snakes we're my friends after all. But the way he looked at me made me fear for my friends.
He then stopped in front of me looking worried. I touched his scales. They were hard yet soft, cold yet warm. He slithered up my arm and around my neck.
"What's your name?" I hissed quietly
"Master Slytherin named me Tartarus. I was told to wait for the rightful heir of the throne of Slytherin to come. And now you have. Thanks snakeling."
"Your welcome. But why were you told to wait for me?"
"Because you and your followers will deal with great suffering. I was named for my power to make people suffer. I will now listen to you, Master Serpent. I will be there to help and guide you and get rid of your troubles."
"Thank you, Tartarus. This will certainly be an interesting year."
"It sure will, Master Serpent. It certainly will."
