You'd be surprised about how much Draco Malfoy loves birthdays. It's easily his favorite occasion of the year, big parties, lavish gifts, he loves it all.
Hermione on the other hand hand's really known that kind of life. Sure she got a few gifts, but coming from a middle class muggle family, birthdays were just birthdays

So when Draco woke her up to breakfast in bed with champagne... she was pleasantly surprised. Sure her party he threw was a little overwhelming, but she loved every moment that he showered her with.
