Love letter
"Did not!" Hermione howled at Ron, who was stuffing his mouth with about half a box of droobles.
"Oh, okay sure, so maybe Nearly Headless Nick wrote it." he mused, a smug smile on his face, nearly throwing Hermione off the edge of the cliff that was her fuming rage. At that point, Ginny plopped herself on the couch next to Harry, who was watching the violent conversation boil with a concealed grin threatening to crack on his lips.
"So, what's this about?" Ginny whispered, popping one of Ron's droobles in her mouth.
"Apparently, Ron received a. . . note of sorts." he giggled, taking a drooble himself.
"What kind of note, may I ask?"
"A love letter." Ron said, watching Hermione roll her eyes and cross her arms so tight around herself it must've been highly uncomfortable.
Her expression flickered as her head cocked to the side. "Ronald believes I sent it." she said.
"Because you did! Come on, 'teeth as dazzling as the white brights of heaven', we all know you have a thing about dentists and toothpaste!"
"Uh! Wha-really? I have nothing of the sorts! And besides, I would never write something so stupid!" Hermione screeched, her cheeks flushing from her frustration.
"Well whether you admit it or not, I think it's cute you finally are being honest about your feelings." Ron teased. "'Night Hermione." he said, planting a kiss on her cheek. He waved to Ginny and Harry and walked up the steps toward the boy's dormitory.
The look on Hermione's face was the horrifying middle between fury and confusion, but she was too dumbfounded to do anything about it. Her cheeks reached a shade of red unknown to the eyes of mankind before, and Harry was at a loss for words. Ginny was beside herself, laughing wildly, and thrashing about, tears pouring from the corner of her eyes.
Harry expected Hermione to shout psychotically, or march straight up to Ron and slap him silly. But she just stood there, and finally shook her head and looked down at her wringing hands. "I-I-um," she muttered. She looked up, her mouth parted slightly. "Goodnight." she mumbled finally, clearing her throat, and walked slowly up the steps and into bed.
Harry turned slowly to meet eyes with Ginny. "What did I just watch?" he said, and Ginny exploded with booming cackles.
Once the two finally caught their breath, he said, face red from laughter, "Wait? But she actually wrote that letter?"
Ginny covered her mouth with her hand, and whispered, "I did!"
"Why?" he asked a confused smile on his lips.
She shrugged. "Because I thought, I dunno it would be a funny prank, I didn't expect for him to think a Hermione wrote it!" she whispered wildly, amusement still discharging laughter from her throat.
After many, many more bouts of laughter passed between the two, Ginny went groggily into the girls dormitory, stomach sore and head pounding from her and Harry's frenzy. In the bed beside hers laid Hermione. Her eyes were open wide, staring at the ceiling.
"Woah, you good?" Ginny asked, yawing.
"Mmhmm." she managed.
"Um, well okay then. Goodnight Hermione." Ginny said, already sprawled out on her bed.
"Yup." Hermione said dazed. Silence resonated, and Ginny passed out. However, she could have sworn she heard Hermione's meek voice whisper, "He actually kissed me. . . ."
