Summary - Hermione sees Katelyn talking to other girls and gets jealous

Hermione's POV

I looked up from my book and saw Katelyn talking with some of her teammates. There was a blonde girl with green streaks in her hair and green eyes. There was another girl with black hair that had blue streaks and bright blue eyes. 

The three were talking animatedly. The blonde touched some of Katelyn's hair as she said something. Katelyn shook her head, laughing. The blonde dropped her hand and shrugged. The black-haired girl said something causing Katelyn to go red. 

I felt a little insecure. I knew Katelyn was close to her teammates and those two girls were very pretty. 

"Why are you checking out, Potter?" asked a familiar voice. 

I turned my head and saw Cormac McLaggen. "I'm not" I replied, defensively. 

He hummed and sat down, closer than he needed to be. "Well instead of watching the loser snakes why don't you pay attention to me and the Gryffindors" he smirked. 

"Because you suck" interrupted a voice. I turned my head and saw Katelyn floating near the railing. "Ron is a million times better than you," she said, "there is a reason you are the reserver-keeper, McLaggen. Now I would like it if you back. Away. From. My. Girlfriend" 

McLaggen put his hands up in surrender and scooted away from me. "Easy their snake. You don't have to get all bitchy on me" he said. 

She gave him a bored look. He huffed and walked off back down to the pitch. I looked over at Katelyn with a scowl, "he was just trying to make conversation" 

"Hermione...really?" she asked. 

"POTTER!" yelled the blonde from before, "COME ON!" 

She sighed, "I'll see you later, Hermione." She flew down to the pitch. 

"Yeah...I love you too" I muttered, sadly.

I looked over at Katelyn from the Gryffindor table and scowled at the sight. She was laughing with the blonde who I learned was Trinity Reynolds, the black-haired girl whose name is Lilith Storm, and a light-brown-haired girl named Claire from my house. 

"Someone's jealous" Harry sang. 

I whipped my head towards him and glared. "I am not, Harry," I said as I stabbed the mashed potatoes with my fork. 

"Judging by how you stabbed one of Katelyn's favorite food, I think you are" Ron said. 

I sighed and took a bite of the potatoes. "Is there something going on between you two?" Harry asked. 

I shrugged, "yesterday she was talking with Reynolds and Storm. Then she got real angry when McLaggen talked to me, then she got angry with me because I said he was just trying to make conversation, and then she flew off with no 'I love you.'" 

"Yeah she's been off with me too lately" Ron said. 

Ginny sat down next to me. "What are you three talking about?" she asked. 

"Hermione being jealous because Katelyn is talking to other girls. Do you know what's up with her, Gin?" Harry replied. 

Ginny shook her head, "I haven't talked to her since last week" 

I looked at Ginny. I had a feeling she wasn't telling the truth, but I let it slide for right now.

Harry and I quietly walked up the Astornomy Tower stairs. Both Ginny and Katelyn had disappeared after their classes after lunch but we couldn't find them so we were going to hang-out at the Astronomy Tower for a while. 

I set my hand on the doorknob but didn't turn it when I heard a familiar voice. "It's been two years, Katelyn" Ginny said. I looked at Harry but he looked just as confused. "We have to stop avoiding this" Ginny pleaded. 

"Gin, you don't get it" Katelyn said sounding strained, "this isn't just my secret. I can't- do that!" 

"I know but you-" 

"No, Ginny! You don't know what it feels like, you're in Gryffindor" 

"Katelyn, your house has nothing to do-" 

"It has everything to do with it!" she interrupted, "out of my family, I'm the only one who got put into Slytherin. My parents may not say it but I can see the disappointment and fear in their eyes that one day I'll just snap. And the moment I do, I'm gone" 

"But Harry wouldn't be mad, he wouldn't shun you!" 

I looked at Harry, the both of us looking even more confused. "You weren't there when I was sorted, Gin. The moment the Hat said Slytherin only three people after Draco was sorted into that house, I could see the fear and the resentment in his eyes for only a second. If we tell people this that will come back and I- I won't have much of anything else" 

"So you're telling me if we come out with this then everyone is going to resent you and hate you until you die?" Ginny asked. 

"Wouldn't you? If you didn't know and we've been like this for two years now? Especially since we didn't tell Harry or Hermione?!" Katelyn said. 

"Why don't we tell Harry and Hermione?!" Ginny shouted. 

"Because-because I can't lose Hermione. If I do then everything will break apart, everything in my life would seese to exist to me. I would finally snap" Katelyn said, "and if Harry found out that we kept this from him...Merlin knows what he will do" 

"But you haven't done anything wrong!" 

"Being friends with Draco and other Slytherin's is the wrong. It's not fair but it's the truth. I remember when I first came to you, you thought I was going to kill you or something" 

"Well you did look deranged-" 

"Not helping!"

"Sorry!" Ginny said, "Katelyn we need to come clean"

"I- I can't, Ginny. Please. If I do get shunned we wouldn't be able to do this anymore, we wouldn't be able to even look at each other" 

"Why did you come to me?"

"I don't know! I guess I thought that you might be able to help, and look at that you did!" Katelyn snapped. 

"You have a funny way of showing your thanks" Ginny said. 

"Oh I'm sorry do you want me to get on my knees and praise you?! Merlin, why did I think this was a good idea?" 

"Because you loooove me" Ginny sang. 

"Shut up" Katelyn said. Ginny laughed. 

I looked at Harry, feeling disgusted, sad, and very very pissed off. He looked the same. We quickly but quietly rushed down the steps and made our way to Ron.

Ginny's POV

I recited the password to the Fat Lady who was glaring at me. As I walked into the common room I heard her mutter, "slut." I recoiled but didn't say anything about it. The portrait closed behind me and I walked farther into the common room. 

The room went quiet when I got into view of everyone. The common room was filled with 1st-7th years. They were all glaring at me. I suddenly felt self-consious. My ears turned red from the attention. What the bloody hell did I do? I thought to myself. 

I searched the room and my eyes found Ron, Harry, and Hermione. Ron was shaking his head at me and his face showed his disappointment. I was even more confused. Harry and Hermione looked miserable but angry at the same time. 

My eyes shifted to Fred and George who had their arms crossed and were staring at me in disappointment and anger. 

"What the bloody hell is wrong with you lot?" I asked, confused and hella angry. 

"What's wrong with you?" Seamus Finnigan sneered back. 

"Yeah" Dean said, "sleeping with a taken girl" 

I looked behind me but didn't see anybody. I turned back and pointed to myself, "me?" I asked. 

"No, Hansel and Grettle" Angelina replied sarcastically. 

Then everything clicked. I looked at Hermione, Ron, and Harry in disbelief. "Now I know what she was afraid of" I said as I only stared at Ron, Hermione, and Harry the Golden trio. "Why she came to me instead of her brother, girlfriend, and one of her best friends. It's never been Hermione and Katelyn or Ron and Liona or Harry and I. It's always been Hermione, Ron, and Harry, the Golden fucking Trio" I said. 

"She was afraid about anyone finding out because she was cheating on Hermione!" argued one of my friends, Oliva Huntsman. "And I can't believe you would betray your friend like that! You both are sluts" 

"Walk away before you explode, Ginny" Draco's voice rang through my head, "come to the boys lavatory" 

I took a deep breath, "think what you want" I said, calmly. I turned on my heel and walked out of the portrait hole. I went to the boys lavatory and found Draco waiting for me.

Katelyn's POV

I looked up as I heard footsteps. Ginny and Draco were walking down the corridor of the Chamber of Secrets. I looked back down at the Midnight and ran my fingers through his black fur. 

"Harry and Hermione must've heard us talking and thought we were talking about sleeping together" Ginny said as she set her bag down and walked into the Niffler enclosure. 

"This is all my fault" I said. 

"No it's not" Draco and Ginny both said. 

"Yes it is! If I didn't come to you in the beginning than you'd still be with my brother or at least working your way up to it. And I'd still have my brother, best friend, and girlfriend" I said. 

"You can't blame yourself for something we had no control over" Ginny argued. 

I sighed.

Hermione's POV

"That's not going to happen" I heard McLaggen say. Then I heard something get knocked into something else then Katelyn appeared at the front of Harry and my table. We were in the back of the library, studying for Harry's Arthimacy essay. 

Ginny appeared a second later, brushing off her shoulder, "arse" she muttered. 

Harry and I ignored them and continued studying. "And so this gets you what?" I asked as I pointed to the equation. 

"473" Harry answered correctly. 

"Good job" 

"Oh crap! Katelyn there he is!" Ginny whisper, shouted. Harry and I looked up to see Katelyn lunge at something by the other table. 

"Get him!" Katelyn hissed. 

Ginny lunged and picked something up. Her back was turned towards us so I couldn't see what it was. "Got him!" Ginny announced quietly. 

She grabbed her bag and opened it up. She set a black ball inside and closed it up. Katelyn got up, "next..." she trailed off as she stared at something next to me. Ginny's eyes widened and Harry yelped. 

I looked over and saw a platipus looking thing with the necklace Katelyn got me a month after we started dating. He looked between the four of us before plopping the necklace in his pouch and running up the shelves. 

"Accio!" Katelyn cast. The animal made a noise before it flew into Katelyn's hands. She quickly stuffed it in her bag. 

"We could have done that this whole time?!" Ginny hissed. 

"And this is why Draco and I handle these things" Katelyn said. 

Harry and I glared at the two who had started bickering. "Girls!" Madam Pince snapped. The two girls looked over. "Quiet. Especially you, Miss Potter. You're on my list for the late night-"

"Ok!" Katelyn said, her face as red as a tomato, "I get it. I'm being quiet" 

My face was bright red as well. Harry scrunched his nose in disgust while Ginny snickered. Madam Pince muttered something before walking off. "Get up, McLaggen! Potter didn't hit you that hard!" Madam Pince snapped. 

The two looked over at us as if just noticing we were there. "Sorry for disrupting studying time" Ginny said dully. 

"Ginny" Katelyn warned. 

"What? They are the ones to blame for us not being able to step foot in our common rooms! They're the reason you got this-" Ginny rolled up Katelyn's sleeve and her wrist was wrapped along with her hand "-and these" she lifted up Katelyn's shirt. Harry and I gasped at what we saw. Her stomach, back, and sides were covered in bruises. 

Katelyn pulled down her shirt and sleeve, "whatever, Ginny" she mumbled than walked off. 

Ginny didn't look the least bit sorry. She turned towards us, "Katelyn and I never slept together or even kissed. And I expected more from you, Hermione. Why in Godrick would Katelyn cheat on you?" I looked down at my essay. "Exactly." 

I looked up at her, "I'm sorry, Ginny. I really am. She came to you with something and I just got jealous and angry, and I thought of the worst scenario" 

"I am too, Ginny. Truly, I am sorry" Harry said. 

"Don't apologise to me. If you heard the conversation up at the Astronomy Tower, then you should know what she said was going to happen is happening. She's snapping" Ginny said, "so you best go make this right, right now" 

I rushed out of the library. I saw Katelyn walking down the corridor to my left. I ran after her, "Katelyn!" I called. 

She stopped and turned around. I threw my arms around her, "I'm so sorry! I'm so so sorry! I was being foolish and my jealousy got the better of me. I understand if you hate me but please don't snap or do anything you'll regret. Please" I whispered in her ear. 

She wrapped her arms around me and hugged me back, "I could never hate you, 'Mione" she whispered. 

"I love you so much. I'm so sorry. I love you" I said as I buried my face in her neck. 

"I love you too, love," she said softly, "I love you too"
