Authors Note - Ron is Katelyn's best friend but not everyone knows that.

Aquaphobia; an excessive amount of anxiety about a body of water.

Summary - Katelyn and Ron are sitting in The Three Broomsticks and questions rise from others.

Katelyn's POV

I snickered as Ron muttered something about Snape being an arse while I braided pieces of his hair. "I mean who does the git think he is? Taking Gryffindor points for absolutely no reason" he said, slurring slightly. "My head hurts" he muttered as he rubbed his forehead. 

I rolled my eyes as I put his beanie back on and flicked the strings hanging off, "I told you not to eat the candy Fred and George gave you" I said as I lifted my butterbeer to my lips. 

He leaned in close and whispered in my ear, "I thought it was gum"

I spit out my butterbeer as I laughed. I grabbed a napkin and wiped my mouth, "Ronald! You aren't supposed to swallow gum!" I said in between laughs. 

"You aren't?" he asked. 

I set my butterbeer down and whacked him in the back of the head earning a groan of protest. "No, you idiot! Oh my- I love you" I sighed as I kissed his cheek. 

"Got a funny way of showing it" he muttered as he flicked a piece of my dyed hair. "I like your hair like that. It's rebellious" 

I snickered, "you should see Draco. Astoria and I managed to get him to Freya's room without him waking up and then Freya dyed his hair rainbow. I didn't get to see his reaction but I knew it was priceless"  

Ron's mouth dropped, "I need to see that" he rubbed his temple. 

"I'm going to get you some water" I muttered as I slid out of the booth. 

"No! Water bad!" he said. 

I rolled my eyes, "water keeps me sane when I listen to you, Weasley." He stuck his tongue out at me and I gave it right back. I turned around and walked over to the counter. I ordered two glasses of water and waited by the counter, drumming my fingers. 

Harry, who I didn't notice was here before, appeared next to me before ordering five butterbeers. I smiled at my brother and ruffled his already messy hair. He gave me a dry look before running a hand through it. 

"I didn't know you and Ron were friends" he mused as his gaze drifted to Ron who was messing around with my remembrall that he and Draco gave me as a birthday present. He was still drunk from the candy that gave him drunk symptoms. 

George and Fred had given me a Wizard Wheezes box filled to the brim with candies and other things so I knew a lot about their things. Ronald decided not to listen to me. 

I shrugged and took the two glasses of water from the waitress who winked at me. "I haven't seen you laugh like that in a while...maybe I'm just not around you as much as I used to be or Ron has some effect on you" 

I wondered what Harry was getting at but my brain hurt too much from Ron so I just shrugged it off. "I don't usually laugh...anymore," I said. I walked back over leaving my brother watching after me. I set down the waters and slid one to Ron who scrunched his nose. "Drink. It" I demanded as I slid into the booth. 

"Bossy bitch" he muttered before downing the water. He appeared to be a lot better after that but still had some effects of the candy. I slid the butterbeer that was still half full to the other side of the table so he couldn't touch it. "You know I've been thinking-" 

"Oh did it hurt?" I joked. 

"Har har," he said dryly, "I've been thinking about that night when we snuck-out and stole Firewhiskey"

"You mean when you confessed your undying love-" he slapped a hand over my mouth and glanced at something across the brewery. I followed his gaze to see Harry, Hermione, Liona, Ginny, and Luna. "Oh," I said but it was muffled. I slapped his hand away. 

"Anyway," he said, "I was drunk on firewhiskey so let's just forget about it" 

I took a sip of my water, "drunk sayings are sober thoughts, Ronald" 

He stared at me, "shut up" he muttered. "I think that I'm in love" he whispered, huffing slightly. 

I blinked, "love?"

"I think about her every time I think about it" he replied. 

"I think Liona likes you back" I whispered. 

He looked at me doubtfully, "no way" he scoffed. 

I whacked him in the back of the head earning a yelp, "why not?!" 

"Because have you met me?" he asked as he rubbed the back of his head, "blood hell Katelyn, that hurt" 

"I have met you! You're wonderful I don't understand why you doubt this so much" I said. 

He opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out as he stared at something behind me. I turned my head in curiosity and saw Blaise Zabini, one of Draco's friends. I was about to go over there but Ron grabbed my arm, "don't" he said. 

"Ron-"

"Please" he whispered his eyes flashing with pain, "can we just go?" 

I wiped away the single tear that rolled down his cheek, "ok" I whispered back. I slid out of the booth and wrapped my scarf around my neck. He slid out next. He slipped on his gloves as we walked over to the other door. 

"Oi, Weasley! Still scared of water?" Zabini yelled. 

Ron froze while I spun around. I glared at Blaise, Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle as I walked over. I took out my wand. I summoned a cauldron full of water. "Patrifucus Totalus!" I cast at Pansy, Crabbe, and Goyle. 

Blaise moved out of the way as they fell to the ground. I grabbed him by the back of the neck and put his head over the cauldron. "Katelyn!" Ron said. 

"You know when your drowning you don't actually inhale until right before your gonna blackout," I said as my eyes welled up with tears as the memories came back, "the instinct to not let any water in is so strong that you won't open your mouth until you feel like your head's exploding" 

"You're crazy, bitch!" Blaise said as he tried to get away. He had his hand on either side of the cauldron. 

"I'm a crazy bitch who's overprotective" then I pushed his head in and held him there as he tried to get away. 

"KATELYN!" Harry, Ginny, Luna, Liona, and Hermione yelled as they all stood up. 

I looked up at Ron and saw the look on his face. I pulled Blaise up and he coughed up the water he inhaled when he was flailing and yelling. The cauldron disappeared and I threw him to the ground. 

"Rectumsempra!" I flicked my wand and he started laughing uncontrollably that it hurt. I put away my wand and walked over to Ron. I grabbed his hand and we walked out of The Three Broomsticks. We got to a secluded place where he collapsed into my arms, sobbing. 

I sat on the ground and leaned up against a tree. I closed my eyes as tears escaped. I remember it so clearly. 

Flashback To This Summer

I saw Blaise and Pansy walking towards Ron and me. We were in Diagon Alley walking to Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. It had happened so fast I couldn't react fast enough. By the time I figured it out I was being pinned against the wall by Crabbe and Goyle who had gotten stronger over the years. 

Blaise had Ron by his hair over the fountain. Pansy looked at me with a sneer, "this is because you refused to do what the Dark Lord told you to do." I watched in horror as Blaise pushed Ron's head down into the fountain and didn't let him up. They were trying to drown him, right in front of me. 

"NO! LET HIM GO! STOP IT!" I screamed as I tried to get away from Crabbe and Goyle. Blaise pulled his head up and Ron inhaled deeply before his head was dunked again. "PLEASE! LET HIM GO!" I pleaded as tears welled up in my eyes. 

Ron was struggling, trying to get away from Blaise's harsh grip. I screamed but no one seemed to hear. I saw Ron begin to slow down his movements. "YOU'RE KILLING HIM! HE CAN'T BREATHE! LET HIM GO!" I yelled. Ron's knees buckled and I knew he was out. 

My eyes glowed red as I shifted into my Dire Wolf animagus. I growled at them and they screamed in fear before running off. I shifted back and ran over to Ron. I pulled him out of the fountain and laid his head down in my lap. He was in between my legs. 

"Ron" I whispered as tears ran down my face, "Ron wake up"

He wasn't breathing and his eyes were shut. I laid him down and quickly did mouth-to-mouth. On the third try, he coughed up the water and inhaled sharply. I hugged him and ended up falling to his side but he had caught me before I hit the ground. I cried into his neck as he inhaled as much air as he can. 

"I'm so sorry" I whispered, "this is all my fault" 

He shook his head and we stayed there in silence. 

Flashback end

I heard heavy breaths and opened my eyes. The five were standing in front of us, breathing heavily from the far run. Ron was already asleep. I wiped my tears with my sleeve but didn't move. 

"What was that?" Harry demanded, glaring at me. 

Draco came running down. He saw Ron and me and rushed over, "what happened?!" I looked at Ron before looking back at Draco. I had told him about what happened a couple of days ago but he hasn't had the chance to do anything to them because Ron and I have kept him busy but we couldn't forever. He ran a hand through his hair. "Where are they?" he asked as his eyes glowed a bright green. 

I shook my head and relaxed against the tree. "Katelyn!" Harry snapped. 

I looked at him. Draco glared, "careful Potter" he growled. 

"Shut it, Malfoy! She almost drowned Zabini!" he growled back.

Draco looked at Katelyn with surprise, "well I really don't know what I was thinking you were gonna do" he muttered. 

"Piss off" I muttered. 

"Yeah piss off" Ron muttered as he moved slightly. 

I flicked his ear earning a grunt. Liona knelt down next to them, "what happened?" she asked. 

I looked at the others and gestured for them to sit. They did. Draco laid down with his head on my thigh and closed his eyes. I scrunched my nose at the two boys sleeping on me before turning my attention to the others. 

"During the summer, Ron and I met up in Diagon Alley because the twins wanted us to try out some new sweets to make sure they were safe for their shop. We made it about halfway before we ran into Blaise and Pansy. I didn't know what was happening until I was pinned against the wall and Blaise had Ron over a fountain. Blaise had held him under the water and I tried to get away. The first time Blaise only held him under for about ten seconds but he wasn't finished. The second time...the second time Ron almost died-" 

"Technically I did for about ten seconds and then you saved me-" Draco elbowed Ron making him shut up. 

I rolled my eyes and continued, "he held him under for about forty-five seconds before Ron couldn't take anymore. I was screaming and my protective instincts kicked in. I scared them off after Ron had stopped trying to get away. I had pulled him away from the fountain and well saved him" I finished. 

The five looked horrified. 

"That's...awful" Hermione breathed. I nodded and ran my fingers through Ron's hair. Hermione sat down next to me and looped her arm through mine as she rested her head on my shoulder. I rested my head on top of hers as she closed her eyes. Harry slid in next to Draco and Hermione, Liona laid down in my lap and Ron wrapped an arm around her waist, while Ginny and Luna laid down on the other side of Katelyn. They were all huddled together so it was warm. 

Ron was afraid of drowning but that was normal. No one wants to die because of suffocating underwater. Everyone was afraid of something just Ron was put through more than he could handle at the time.

This is a bit different than what I normally write but I actually enjoyed writing this one-shot.
