Memories || Remus Lupin
It was summer and everyone was staying at Grimmauld place, everyone being the Order and the Weasley family along with Harry, Ron and Hermione. It was late night, maybe one or two in the morning; the stars were shining brightly and rays of silver moonlight seeped through the curtains as you walked through the house.
When you got to the ground floor you noticed that the door leading to the living room was ajar and warm, orange light seeped through the crack between the door and the door frame. You walked towards it and opened the door further, stepping inside. Upon entering you saw Sirius sitting on the floor surrounded by shoe boxes overflowing with polaroid photos, the contents of the pictures were moving.
"Couldn't sleep?" You asked, walking over to Sirius and joining him on the floor. Sirius looked over at you.
"I never get much sleep when I'm in this place." He muttered, looking back down at the photo in his hands. You squeezed his shoulder, Sirius relaxed at that.
You took the photo out of his hands and stared down at it. The photo was old, it had been taken when you were at Hogwarts; You, James, Sirius, Remus and Peter were all in the photo laughing and smiling. You were sat next to Remus who had his arm around your shoulders, James sat next to you and Sirius on his other side, Peter was sat next to Sirius. You flipped over the photo as saw messy hand writing on the back which read:
October, 1976, The Marauders at The Tree Broomsticks.
Sadness washed over you as you recognised the hand writing to be James'. In the photo you all looked so happy, so young and free. The picture versions of your friends were all laughing and spilling butterbeer everywhere; Remus kissed your cheek in the photo.
"I remember that day." You smiled, giving the photo back to Sirius, who also smiled and nodded.
You picked up a second photo and stared down at it, the photo was the five of you in the boys dormitory all messing around. Sirius was hanging upside down from his bed and laughing, James was drinking some firewhiskey, Peter was sat at the foot of Remus' bed eating some chocolate, Remus was laughing and shaking his head as you morphed between your human form and your animagus form, which was a fox. Flipping over the photo you read the inscription:
June, 1975, boys dorms, just finished our O.W.Ls, firewhiskey time!
This time the inscription was written by Sirius, his handwriting hadn't changed over the years, there were also little doodles on the back of the photo; you laughed. And handed it to Sirius who laughed along with you.
"I think that was one of the worst hangovers I have eve had." You laughed, Sirius grinned.
You and Sirius looked through loads more old photo's that your group had taken over the years, from first year to your last year at Hogwarts; you'd either laugh at the photo's or a loud silence would fill the room, both of you saddened by the absents of James to share these memories with you.
"I completely forgot." You grinned, pulling out your wand as Sirius looked over at you, "I found more photo's at my parents house when I was going through it." You finished, flicking your wand. A couple of shoe boxes glided into the room and settled themselves onto the floor.
"What are you two doing up so late?" A voice asked, you and Sirius looked up to see your husband leaning against the door frame, an amused smile across his face.
"Come and look at these, Moony." Sirius grinned, gesturing him to sit with you on the floor.
Remus came and sat down next to you and looked at all the photo's that were scattered on the floor. Remus smiled, picking a couple up. The three of you put your heads together to look at the photo.
In the photo was Remus lying on the floor, your head was on his chest, James' head was resting on your shoulder and on Remus' chest, Sirius was resting his head in your lap and Peter was lying between yours and James' legs; all of you were fast asleep. You smiled and flipped the photo over and saw more writing on the back:
December, 1977, Gryffindor common room, Christmas eve; taken by Lily.
This time it was your hand writing on the back, you heart broke a little when you read the name of your best friend.
"I remember she used that photo to blackmail us." Sirius grinned, you laughed and nodded as Remus smiled softly.
"She always was cheeky." You chuckled, moving your hand slightly. As you did you felt something in your pocket.
Putting your hand into your pocket you pulled out your old pair of reading glasses that you used to wear at school. You laughed, you had completely forgotten you had them in your pocket; putting them on you grinned at Sirius and Remus who laughed.
"I can't believe that you still have those." Sirius laughed.
"I found them the other day." You beamed.
"You look like James." Remus chuckled; Sirius let out a bark of laughter.
"I do not!" You gasped, but you couldn't stop the smile forming on your face.
"Yes, you really do." Sirius howled, leaning over slightly as to avoid the smack you aimed at him.
"No, James had thick, square rimmed glasses. These are circular and much more stylish." You grinned, Sirius rolled his eyes.
"Maybe for the seventies." Remus muttered, causing you and Sirius to start laughing again.
"What are you three doing?" A tired voice asked, the three of you stopped laughing and turned to the door.
Harry stood there in his pyjamas, his hair messy and a glass of water in his hand. You forgot just how much Harry looked like James, they were a splitting image of each other.
"Did we wake you?" Remus asked, Harry shook his head.
"We're looking at photo's we took when we were at school, want to have a look?" You asked your godson. Lily had asked you to be a godparent along side Sirius when Harry was born, you were more than happy to do so.
"Okay." He smiled, walking into the room and sitting opposite the three of you.
The four of you all looked through photo's of your younger years, laughing and telling the stories behind the photos and recalling stories in general. Harry burst out laughing when he saw one of the photo's.
"What's going on in this one?" He asked, a wide smile on his face as he handed you the photo.
You took it and looked down at it. In the photo you and Sirius were running around the common room with James chasing you two, but he didn't have his glasses so he kept bumping into things, you laughed and turned the photo over, it read:
March, 1974, Gryffindor common room; (y/n) and Sirius stole my glasses, pricks!
The hand writing was James'. You smiled as Sirius laughed loudly and Remus shook his head, but he couldn't stop his smile.
"Your mother bet Sirius and I a Galleon that we couldn't nick your dads glasses and keep them for ten minutes with out James getting them back." You grinned at Harry, who laughed and beamed at the mention of his parents.
"How wrong she was." Sirius laughed, he took another photo from the pile and smiled sadly; you looked over his shoulder and understood his sadness.
In the photo was Lily, she was lying in bed holding a new born baby who was gurgling happily, James' head would pop in and out of the frame every now and them. Sirius turned over the photo:
31st of July, 1980, Godric's Hollow, Lily and baby Harry; take by the best godparent in the world, (y/n) (y/l/n).
You had written this but where it said your name, a line had been drawn through it and under it said, 'Sirius Black, the better godparent'. You and Sirius laughed and handed the photo over to Harry, who smiled.
"You and Sirius were always bickering over who was the better godparent." Remus chuckled, shaking his head slightly.
"Can I keep this?" Harry asked, holding up the photo of him and his mother.
"Corse you can, take as many of the photo's as you like." You smiled at him, Harry beamed.
The four of you stayed up for a couple of hours looking through the photo's and laughing. Harry started to grow tired so he went back upstairs, clutching a shoe box filled with photo's of your time at school.
"I think I'm going to head up too." Sirius yawned, lazily flicking his wand and making the mess of photo's on the floor clear it's self up; you nodded in agreement.
"Me too. We'll see you in the morning, Pads." You grinned at Sirius who smiled as you and Remus left the living room and back up to your shared room.
"You alright, love?" Remus asked, closing the bedroom door behind him, you smiled sadly and nodded. Remus walked towards you and pulled you into his arms, wrapping his around your waist and nuzzling his head into your neck.
"I'm okay, just all those memories, I wish James and Lily were here to share them with us; and to see Harry all grown up, it's unfair that they don't get to see him grow up and we do. They would be so proud of him." You sighed, running your hands up and down Remus' back; Remus nodded into your neck and pressed a couple of soft kisses into it.
"I know, love." He sighed, pulling away slightly and pressing a kiss to your forehead, "Lets get some sleep, yeah?" He asked, you nodded.
Remus lent down slightly and pressed a warm, soft kiss to your lips, you sighed into the kiss as you kissed him back, trailing your hands up to the sides of his face. You pulled away and clambered into bed, Remus following you. As you slept, you dreamt of the day that first photo you looked at was taken.
*Flash Back*
"There you go." Smiled the witch standing in front of you, handing back the camera and picture you had just asked her to take; James snatched it out of your hands.
"Prongs." You groaned, trying to get the photo back from him, but he was too busy writing on it to acknowledge your complaint.
Remus laughed as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders from behind, pressing a kiss to your temple and resting his chin on your shoulder.
"There." James grinned, pushing forward the photo he had just written on, you took it off him, everyone gathered around to look at the photo of the five of you in The Three Broomsticks, you smiled and turned the photo over:
October, 1976, The Marauders at The Tree Broomsticks.
You all laughed as you passed the photo around, "We'll keep this forever." Peter grinned.
"Yeah, along with the five thousand other photo's we have." Remus chuckled on your shoulder, everyone laughed.
"Well, you will all be thankful for them, when we're old and grey, we can look back on these photo's and smile. We'll give them to our kids to carry on the Marauder's legacy." James beamed, everyone shared warm smiles and nodded their heads.
"One problem with that, Prongs." You mused, handing him the photo, James raised an eyebrow, "Who would want to have kids with you?" You finished.
Everyone burst out laughing as James rolled his eyes and tried to throw butterbeer over you, which ended with you throwing butterbeer over him and running out of the crowded pub and into Hogsmeade; James shouting and laughing as he chased you; your other best friends followed you laughing. The photo of the five of you was clutched tightly in Sirius' hands, a wide, proud smile formed on his face as he stared down at his best friends.
