Escape || James Potter

Today was going to be awful.

You just new it.

Today the Potter's where coming around to have dinner with your family because your dad is friends with Mister Potter.

"Come on (y/n), you have to get ready to greet our guests." Your mother sang happily as she looked through your cupboard.

"I am ready." You groaned, rolling over in bed. You had spent the whole day in bed and refused to leave it.

"(y/n), you're in your pyjamas." Your mother scoffed, rummaging through the ugly dinner dresses she had bought you.

"I'll have you know that some outstanding things can be done when one is in their pyjamas." You sighed, placing your arm over your eyes to shield them from the light.

"Stop being so ridiculous and put this on." Your mother spoke in a sharp, fed-up tone and placing a frilly green dress. Raising an eyebrow you looked over at your mother.

"Now look who's being ridiculous. We both know that I don't wear dresses." You spoke as you stretched out your stiff limbs across the bed. Your mother glared at you.

"The Potters will be here in ten minutes, I expect you to be dressed properly and down stairs. Do not embarrass your father and I like you did last time." And with that she strode out of the room.

Your parents didn't like to break traditions. They loved rules, where strict and where against muggles . You on the other hand loved muggle cloths, you didn't mind breaking rules and you always thought of your self as a rather relaxed person.

'Well, I'm not wearing that crap.'

You thought as you unwillingly pulled of the covers of your warm bed. Standing over the dress your mother picked out you rolled your eyes, picked up the dress and shoved it into the back of the cupboard.

You then proceeded to move to a small space behind your writing desk, where, hidden in the wall was a small storage space, in which you kept all your muggle cloths.

You grabbed your favourite pair of jeans, an old graphic t-shirt you found in a muggle charity shop, an old, vintage jacket and a pair of black biker boots.

You didn't bother to try and do anything about your hair, it was to wild. Sticking your wand into your boot you checked your watched and realised you where running a bit late, not that it bothered you.

Upon opening your bedroom door, you could hear voices coming from the floor below. One voice you recognised belonged to James Potter.

You both went to Hogwarts, you would occasionally see him around but not bothered to talk to him. You never really understood why other girls made such a big deal about him. Admittedly, he was kind of good looking, but other than that, you just didn't understand.

Stuffing your hands into your pockets you walked calmly down stairs. All eyes fell on you, everyone was dressed properly for the occasion, well, except you. Your Mother and Father glared at you but the Potters on the other hand beamed.

"(y/n) dear! It's great to see you." Mrs Potter exclaimed pulling you into a hug, to which you returned.

"It's nice to see you again too, Mrs Potter." You answered, pulling away and noticing out of the corner of your eye your parents scowling slightly.

"Why doesn't everyone go into the sitting room while we wait for the other families and for (y/n) to get properly dressed." Your mother stated politely but glaring at you. The fact that their where more families other than the Potters where coming tonight was more than a shock to you, and obviously to James, who shared the same expression as you.

"Nonsense, (y/n) looks stunning and their is no need for such formalities. And besides, I would like to her (y/n)'s opinion on something." Mrs Potter smiled at you and led you to the sitting room.

Around forty minutes later their where loads of people walking around your house, drinking, eating and talking. Most of them are friends of your parents and share the same veins as them, muggles aren't our equals. So when they saw you wearing muggle cloths, the looked disgusted. You and James seemed to be the only ones your age.

You slumped down onto the sofa next to James who looked bored out of his mind.

"Hey Potter, want to get out of here?" You asked, turning to him, he raised his eyebrow at you.

"And how exactly do you plan on doing that?" He asked, crossing his arms over his chest. Rolling your eyes you stood up, grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the stairs leading up to the rest of the house.

"And where do you two think your going?" Your father asked, his tone cold and suspiciously looking at James and you.

"I was going to show James the rest of the house, all the history stuff." You answered, staring right back at your father.

All he did in response was nod curtly then walk off into the crowd. You sighed and continued to lead James into your room.

"Why are we in here?" He asked, gazing around your room.

"To make a bomb. No, where here to get out of this awful dinner party thing that neither of us want to be at. Now, if you want to be a good boy and stay here with mummy and daddy, fine. But I'm leaving." You stated, walking over the window and opening it.

"Wow, I never pegged you as a sarcastic person." He mused, smirking at you as you climbed out of the window, hanging off the ledge.

"Oh yeah? And what kind of person did you peg me for?" You asked as James came closer to the window, leaning in slightly, his lips almost brushing yours but before he could do anything, you dropped from the ledge and landed softly onto the pavement, smirking up at him.

"Gotta' be quicker than that, Potter."

As you stared to walk down the dark street James caught up to you, panting slightly as his hand brushed yours.

"Where exactly are we going?" He asked, looking around the dark muggle street we where walking through.

"One of the best places in the world." You grinned.

After about thirty minutes of walking, talking, laughing and joking around, you had finally reached it.

The Leaky Cauldron.

As you entered the pub you saw a group of rowdy Warlocks in the centre of the room, sitting at a circular table. Two hags where sat in a dark corner of the bar, eating what looked like raw liver.

"You go find us a table and I'll get us some Butterbeer." You said, James grinned, nodded and walked towards a table for two.

As you walked to the bar, what you didn't realise was that the whole way you walked, James stared in awe at you.

~James's POV~

I know I've only met (y/n) properly today, but it feels like I've really known her for ages. I've also had a small crush on her for some time, but I didn't want to scare her off like I did with Lily.

~Your POV~

Turning around, two butterbeers clutched in your hands you made eye contacted with James and walked towards him.

The rest of the night was filled with laughs, jokes, deep moments and secret glances between the two of you. The sun was starting to rise as you walked through a park, your hands occasionally brushing.

"I had a great time tonight, I really did. Thanks for saving me from that awful party." James smiled, taking one of your hands in his.

Now that you have spent some time with James, you begin to see what the other girls do, he's nice, kind, funny and so many other things. They way his eyes sparkled when he talked about Quidditch, his friends or pranks. His unruly head of hair.

"No problem, I'm glad you had a good time, I really enjoyed our time together too." You grinned at him.

"Maybe I could take you on a proper date?" James smirked, rubbing his thumb across your knuckles.

"Yeah, I'd like that." You answered, smiling. James grinned and leaned over and kissed your cheek.

"No come on, we now have to go and face the wroth of our parents."
