79- Your father would've been so proud, Harry

As requested by midnighticycreeper

It was a peaceful Sunday morning as the Hogwarts students quietly chattered amongst themselves at breakfast. Almost a week had passed since the start of the year and already, the air was edged with a certain iciness, hinting the beginning of long, cold winter. Harry Potter was sat with the rest of the cheerful Gryffindors as he nervously tapped his fingers along the edge of the long, wooden table. Only five minutes before, his best friend Ron Weasley had received a furious howler from his mother, telling him off about his and Harry's little car accident instead of taking the train. Harry anxiously awaited his howler because although all the laughter had now subsided and the students had returned to their own conversations, it was a huge embarrassment in front of everyone. And Harry didn't want to make a fool of himself and top that onto all the things Draco Malfoy could make fun of him about.

Ron's pale complexion still hadn't returned, masked by bright red flashing on his face, which only drew even more eyes on him. For the one time it was him who had all the attention, he didn't appreciate it very much.

"Yours better be just as bad." Ron grunted, angrily stabbing his scrambled eggs.

Suddenly, a huge tawny owl shot in, it was Remus and Sirius' owl and unfortunately, everyone knew that. A couple of people pointed, laughed and fixed their gazes on Harry, who had become very, very pale. He hated disappointing Remus and Sirius. Guilt flooded through him as the kind, gentle, tawny owl landed neatly beside Harry's empty plate; he'd felt too sick to eat anything after Ron's howler. The young boy's hand reached out to pet Temminck before quietly snatching and snapping the ribbon that tied the envelope loosely to the owl's leg; Sirius' messy work. Everyone fell silent and Harry held his breath with pursed lips as the envelope shot up in the air and opened, before a letter slid out easily and unfolded itself.

"HARRY! I'M NOT REALLY MAD AT YOU! THAT WAS BLOODY AWESOME." Sirius' excited voice erupted all over the Great Hall and a couple of laughs could be heard, mostly from Gryffindors. "HOW ON EARTH DID YOU MANAGE TO DO THAT? I DEFINITELY SHOULD'VE DONE THAT WHEN I WAS IN SCHOOL... OH MERLIN'S BEARD I'M PROUD."

Shuffling could be heard next to Sirius and Harry immediately recognised Remus' voice. "Sirius- NO. Harry, that was very wrong." he said firmly but couldn't bring himself to get angry; he would've done the exact same thing at his age. "You've caused a lot of trouble for Arthur at the ministry."

Sirius gave a soft sigh and Harry could almost see his eyes brimming with grief. "Your father would've been so proud, Harry."

The letter burst into flames and disintegrated over Harry's empty plate. The black haired boy stared into space, at where the letter had been, smiling sadly. Hermione, from his other side, touched his hand gently. "Are you okay, Harry?" Her warm brown eyes twinkled at him. Harry nodded and slowly got up before heading outside to enjoy the dry weather. Hermione didn't join him but watched him ago, chewing anxiously on her bottom lip. He'll be alright, she told herself firmly.

A/N
I'm so sorry this is bad, I just couldn't make it nice and cute and whatever... So I made it kinda sad. Oh well. I tried rewriting but it just wouldn't flow or seem nice. I'm sorry, again, this sucks.
Feel free to comment any requests!

Love,
-P
