Chapter one.
Harry Potter didn't really know much about religion.
Aunt Petunia always said that God didn't love a freak like him, so he didn't go to church.
It wasn't until his teacher read them a book on Greek Mythology that he realized there was more than the Christian God.
"And the Titans were silent for two thousand years, letting Zeus and his siblings rule peacefully, until Kronos rose again, bringing with him a great monster that the gods had to fight. There was no one standing between Kronos and Olympus except fifty demigods, lead by a son of Posideon. These demigods fought very hard, with their leader and his best friend, a daughter of Athena, traveling to Olympus to fight against Kronos.
The two managed to defeat the old king just as the gods returned from battling the great monster.
As a reward, the gods made the son of Posideon and Daughter of Athena gods.
The daughter became the goddess of architecture, designing many buildings that are still around today.
The son became the god of heroes and tides, a shining light to those who had no one.
The son went to the demigods who had fought against Kronos and said to them " I will never let another war like this happen again. I will protect my family from any who might threaten them. I will be a guardian of peace, a protector of the weak."
The demigods heard him and promised to follow him until death and they became the Guardians, and have protected children ever since. It's said that if you need his help all you have to do is give him something blue and sweet and he will come."
That night Harry stole a piece of taffy from Dudley and hid it in his cupboard before he prayed to Perseus.
When he woke up, the taffy was gone.
Within hours, an anonymous tip had brought the police to Number 4, Privet Drive, and Harry and Dudley were taken to the hospital and the Dursley's arrested for child abuse and negligence.
Two days into that brief stay, right when Harry was about to be adopted by a kind woman who specialized in abused children, Harry woke back up in his cupboard to Aunt Petunia screaming at him.
He thought it was all a dream but it was a nice dream, so Harry prayed to Percy again and once again the taffy in the morning was gone.
Harry saw the police cars pull up an hour later only for the policemen to get a confused look on their faces and get back in the car and drive away.
Harry thankfully wasn't beaten that night, as Vernon was at work, and Petunia hadn't noticed the cops pull up.
That night he decided to try one last time.
"Dear Perseus. Thanks for sending me those nice dreams. Even if the Cops keep leaving every time they come here. I hope you enjoyed the candy I left."
That night, he dreamed.
He was standing next to a river that shimmered with all the colors of the rainbow. Trees whispered overhead and birds sang on their branches. There were faces watching from the trees but Harry wasn't scared. He felt like they were just checking on him.
Harry looked at the opposite shore where a boy his age sat, skipping stones across the river and interrupting the rainbow water, the ripples swirling out gold where ever the stones skipped.
"Hello," Harry said, looking at the boy.
The other boy had black hair and bright green eyes that seemed to glow. He wore an orange shirt with a pegasus on it and a green jacket the same color as his eyes. There was a necklace with clay beads on it, each one different from the rest. "I'm Harry."
"It's nice to meet you, Harry." The boy said. "My name is Perseus. Thank you for the taffy. In my favorite flavor too."
"You're Perseus?"
"I am. But you can call me Percy. All my friends do."
Harry looked down. "I'm sorry for bothering you, sir."
Percy smiled. "It's no bother. It's my job to help kids who can't help themselves. I was in a similar situation once. So I understand. That you called out to me by name, tells me that you realize what they are doing is not right. So I sent a message to one of my friends, and they had Social Services find you. But to my surprise, you prayed to me again, saying thanks for the dream. So I came in person and led the police to your door but found a barrier preventing any mortal who knew you were there from remembering you were there. Strange."
Harry shifted uncomfortably.
"It's alright, kid. It just means I have to get a little more hands-on. When you learned about me you learned about the Kidemonas too, right? In your language, that would be Guardians."
Harry nodded. "Yes, sir."
"I would like to extend an offer to, Harry. Join my Guardians, leave the mortal world behind, and help protect kids just like you. You will never see the Dursley's again, and the magic caster who is keeping you here will never be able to touch you. My world is not without dangers but you will face those dangers with your comrades, your brothers, and sisters, five hundred strong, side by side with you. So, what do you say? Will you come with me?"
Harry thought about the Dursley's and nodded. "Yes, please."
Percy smiled. "Close your eyes, when you wake up, you'll be at the Guardian camp. We'll talk more then.
Harry's vision began to fade and he felt himself fall into a deep sleep.
When he started to wake, it wasn't to Aunt Petunia banging on the cupboard door, but soft voices.
"He's young, he can recover." A boy said, an older teen at least.
"And his former guardians?" A different voice asked, this one female, but aggressive, like she wanted to fight anything and anyone in her way.
"Will regret the day they first locked him away." A familiar voice said.
Percy.
"I took care of them myself."
"And if this magic user interferes again?"
"There is only one way to resurrect the dead and no one has ever pulled it off," Percy assured. "Now, the kid's awake and you all have duties attend to. If you see Mr and Mrs. Stoll, send them my way."
"Yes, my lord." Said three voices, the fourth and new one another woman.
"And stop calling me that!" Percy yelled before footsteps moved closer to Harry.
"Morning sleepyhead, how'd you sleep?"
"Good, sir," Harry said, sitting up. He realized then that he did feel good The bruises were gone and his arm, which had hurt ever since Uncle Vernon slammed it in the door felt great.
"Will, my best healer, saw to your injuries personally," Percy said, sitting down in a chair next to Harry's cot. "You were quite beat up. You had several cuts and broken bones and most of your body was covered in bruises. Will managed to heal your injuries but you are still healing from malnutrition. He can't fix everything." He gestured to a blonde boy writing on a clipboard a few yards away. At the sound of his name, he looked up and smiled at Harry.
"Now. Let's talk about what happens from here on out."
