When Teddy is 14 years old, he gets his eyebrow pierced and when he does it, the person at the piercing parlour asks if he has a parent present and he just says "Both my parents are dead."

Fast forward to the next time he is home, Ginny notices it and flips out. She begins yelling at him for not asking permission and says how disrespectful that was. Obviously he gets grounded, however, the whole time this is happening, Teddy is smiling. 

After Ginny is done scolding him, Teddy gives her the biggest hug and thanks her because in that moment he realised he had a mom.
