Chapter 4: Vault 713 and Flying Class

After Potions Class, it was around midday, and the students of Hogwarts were in the Great Hall doing homework. [Y/N] sat next to Harry, Ron and Hermione at the Gryffindor table. "Eye of rabbit, harp string hum. Turn this water, into rum." A voice rang out. [Y/N] looked over and saw a fellow Gryffindor Seamus, trying a spell on a cup. Seamus looked into the cup and shook his head in frustration and started the spell again. Harry also looked over at the First Year.

"What's Seamus trying to do to that glass of water?" Harry asked. [Y/N] looked at the black haired boy.

"He's trying turn it into rum. Actually managed a weak tea yesterday, before.."

BAM!!!

[Y/N] was cut off when a mighty flash occurred. The cup had exploded and Seamus is left charred. Several students started to laugh. Hermione fanned away the smoke with her hand. The sudden call of several birds caught the students' eyes. Ron looked up and smiled.

"Ah. Mail's here!" He said. The owls soar by, dropping parcels to their students. Luna, [Y/N]'s fruit bat, screeched as she flew down. [Y/N] held out her hand and Luna landed on it, clutching a letter in her feet. [Y/N] smiled as she gently stroked Luna's head.

"Good girl, Luna." [Y/N] praised. With a screech, Luna took off towards the Owlery. She had her own spot away from the owls where she rested until she was needed. [Y/N] smiled and opened the letter. It was a letter from her grandparents.

'Our dearest [Y/N],' the letter started. 'We are so pleased to hear that you were accepted into Hogwarts and that you were sorted into Hufflepuff. Your Grandmother still hasn't given up the idea that you should have gone to Ilvermorny, says you would have made a fantastic Thunderbird. Nevertheless, we are so proud of you. We hope you have an amazing year at Hogwarts.

Love, Grandad and Nan'

[Y/N] smiled and folded up the letter again. She made a mental note to make sure to send her Grandparents a letter back soon. As expected, Harry didn't get any mail. He did, however, see a paper the was put to the side by Ron. Harry looked at his friend.

"Can I borrow this?" Harry asked. Ron looked at the parchment and nodded, shrugging his shoulder. Harry nodded. "Thanks."

From across the table, Neville Longbottom was unwrapping a gift sent to him by his Grandmother. It was a clear glass ball with a gold banner around it. Dean, another Gryffindor, looked over at Neville.

"Hey, look! Neville's got a Remembrall!" Dean shouted. [Y/N] looked over and saw the ball that Neville was holding. Hermione leaned forward.

"I've read about those. When the smoke turns red, it means you've forgotten something." Hermione explained. The smoke in the ball turned red. Neville furrowed his brows.

"The only problem is, I can't remember what I've forgotten." [Y/N] looked at Neville and realized that he had forgotten his robes.

"Hey, Ron, [Y/N]," Harry said, catching his friends' attentions. "Somebody broke into Gringotts," Harry said. [Y/N]'s eyebrows widened.

"What?" She asked and leaned forward. Harry looked at her.

"Listen," "'Believed to be the work of dark witches or wizards unknown, Gringotts goblins, while acknowledging the breach, insist that nothing was taken. The vault in question, number 713, had in fact been emptied earlier that same day.'" Harry stopped and frowned. "That's odd. That's the vault Hagrid and I went to." He said.

That afternoon, outside the castle, the students of Gryffindor and Slytherin, were lined up in two rows with brooms by their sides. The teacher, Madam Hooch , came down the line. She has short hair and hawk yellow eyes.

"Good afternoon, class" Madam Hooch called, stopping to stand in front of the students. It was clear that she meant business.

"Good afternoon, Madam Hooch." The students responded. Madam Hooch nodded and smiled slightly.

"Good afternoon." She addressed the students "Welcome to your first flying lesson. Well, what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of their broomstick. Come on now, hurry up," Hooch commanded. [Y/N] and the other students walked up to the left side of their broomstick. [Y/N] could already feel the magic resonating from the broom. Hooch stuck her right hand out. "Stick your right hand over the broom and say, up!" Hooch commanded.

"Up!" The class commanded. For some students, like [Y/N] the broom obeyed immediately.

"Up!" Harry commanded. The brook shot up into his hand. He smiled in aw. "Wow." Harry whispered. Hermione stared at him and [Y/N] in disbelief as she continued to try and get her broom stick to work. Draco was one of the lucky students.

"Up!" He commanded. The broomstick flew up and into the boy's hand. Draco grinned smugly.

"With feeling!" Hooch commanded to the other students who were struggling. Hermione was still struggling. Her broom was slowly rising.

"Up. Up." Hermione commanded. Ron was another who was struggling.

"Up!!" Ron shouted. His broom immediately shot up and whacked him on the nose. [Y/N] winced.

"Ooh!" [Y/N] groaned. She and Harry started laughing at their friend. Ron glared at the two.

"Shut up, Harry. You to, [Y/N]." Ron grumbled, he then started to laugh along.

"Now," Hooch started again, once all of the students had gotten their brooms in their hands. "Once you've got hold of your broom, I want you to mount it. And grip it tight, you don't want to be sliding off the end." Hooch said. The class mounts their broomsticks. Hooch nodded in satisfaction. "When I blow my whistle, I want each of you to kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your broom steady, hover for a moment, and then lean forward slightly and touch back down. On my whistle...3...2..." She blows the whistle. However, Neville's broomstick somehow lifted him off the ground. Neville immediately lifted off. He looked quite frightened.

"Oh..." Neville cried out slightly. Hooch looked at the boy.

"Mr. Longbottom." Hooch said. Other students started voicing their concerns. Neville's broom started to soar off uncontrollably. "M-M-Mr. Longbottom! Mr."

"AHH!" Neville's broom shot off. His broom immediately skyrocketed towards the sky. He flew uncontrollably in the air and hit a wall, knocking along it and then swooping off. All the while, he was screaming. He began to zoom back towards the group of students. [Y/N]'s eyes widened. Hooch quickly held out her wand to stop him.

"Help!" Neville shouted.

"Mr. Longbottom-!" Hooch shouted.

Before she could do anything, Hooch dove out of the way, allowing Neville to fly right through. Neville went through the scatter and up a tower. He zooms past a statue of a man with a sharp spear. Neville's cloak caught on it. He was flipped off the broom and hangs there.

"Oh. Ah...help!" Neville shouted. He wavered, then the cloak began to rip through the spear, and he fell But his cloak caught on a torch, making Neville slip off from his cloak a second later and fall to the ground. A group of kids all gathered around Neville, some making sure he was okay, others laughing at his misfortune.

"Everyone out of the way!" Hooch shouted. She ran through the group, and they scattered, giving her room. Hooch quickly made her way to Neville. "Come on, get up." Hooch urged. [Y/N] tried to peak around the crowd.

"Is he alright?" [Y/N] asked in worry. Hooch was helping Neville up and saw that his wrist had broken when he fell. Neville cried out in pain as Hooch helped him up.

"Oh, oh, oh, oh dear. It's a broken wrist," she clicked her tongue in disappointment and sympathy. "Good boy, come on now, up you get." Hooch urged, helping Neville to his feet. Draco reached down and grabbed Neville's Remembrall, which had fallen from him. Hooch began to lead Neville away with her. She addressed the class, "Everyone's to keep their feet firmly on the ground while I take Mr. Longbottom to the hospital wing. Understand? If I see a single broom in the air, the one riding it will find themselves out of Hogwarts before they can say, Quidditch." Hooch said. [Y/N] sighed in worry for her fellow Gryffindor. Malfoy snickered, still holding the Remembrall.

"Did you see his face? Maybe if the fat lump had given this a squeeze, he'd have remembered to fall on his fat arse." Draco said, making some other Slytherins snicker as well. [Y/N] clenched her jaw and marched up to the male.

"Give it here, Malfoy." [Y/N] demanded. Draco turned and frowned at her, giving her a dirty look.

"You want this, Scamander? I don't think so. I think I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find." Draco said. [Y/N] sighed in frustration. She remembered Hooch's warning and stayed on the ground. Harry, however, was getting more and more upset with the way Draco was acting. Draco mounted his broom and soared into the air. "How 'bout up on the roof?" Draco taunted. He soared off and hovered several feet above the ground. Draco looked down at [Y/N] and smirked. "What's the matter, Scamander? Bit beyond your reach?" He teased. Finally having enough, Harry got on his broom. [Y/N] looked at Harry.

"Harry, no way! You heard what Madam Hooch said! Besides, you don't even know how to fly." [Y/N] argued. Ignoring her, Harry flew of towards Draco. Hermione sighed.

"What an idiot." She said. Harry was across from Draco now.

"Give it here, Malfoy, or I'll knock you off your broom!" Harry threatened. Draco, who was bouncing the ball up and down in his hand, smirked at Harry.

"Is that so? Coming to Scamander's rescue are you, Potter?" Draco teased. [Y/N] looked down at the ground as a red tint came to her cheeks. Harry made a dash for him, but Draco twirls around his broom in a 360. "Have it your way, then!" Draco said.

Draco hurled the Remembrall into the air, like a baseball. Harry zoomed after the ball, speeding towards a tower. Just as he was about to hit the window, from which McGonagall was working, he caught it. McGonagall noticed this and looked surprised as Harry began to fly back down to the grounds, smiling the whole time. The students all cheer as Harry landed back on the ground with ease. One of the students who was smiling, was [Y/N]. All of the students, mostly Gryffindor, applauded for Harry and patted him on the back for a job well done.

"Good job, Harry!" One student said. Harry found himself looking at [Y/N], who was smiling.

"Oh, that was wicked, Harry." [Y/N] said with a smile. Harry smiled back.

"Thanks, [Y/N]." He said. He felt a weird sensation in his stomach when [Y/N] complimented him, but he couldn't figure out what it was. McGonagall suddenly appeared, walking quickly onto the grounds.

"Harry Potter?" She shouted. The cheery atmosphere suddenly vanished as the students noticed the teacher. Harry stepped forwards amongst the crowd. "Follow me." McGonagall said. Harry's smile fell and the sensation that filled his stomach now was dread. He hadn't even spent a full term at Hogwarts, and now, he was going right back to the Dursleys.

Harry, Ron and [Y/N] were walking through the crowded halls after the flying incident with Neville. Harry had just told his friends about the news. Sir Nicholas and another ghost floated by.

"Have you heard? Harry Potter's the new Gryffindor Seeker. I always knew he'd do well." Nick said. [Y/N] still had yet to process the information that had been given to her.

"Seeker? But first years never make their house teams!" Ron said, astonished. [Y/N] looked at Harry.

"Harry, you must be the youngest Quidditch player in..." [Y/N] was cut off by Harry.

"A century, according to McGonagall." He said. Fred and George, Ron's older twin brothers, also in Gryffindor, walked along with the three friends.

"Hey, well done, Harry, Wood's just told us!" Fred said. Ron looked at Harry and [Y/N].

"Fred and George are on the team, too. Beaters." Ron explained. George nodded along with what Ron had said.

"Our job is to make sure that you," George pointed at Harry. "Don't get bloodied up too bad. Can't make any promises, of course. Rough game, Quidditch." George said. Fred nodded

"Brutal. But no one's died in years. Someone will vanish occasionally..." Fred said. The two turned off from the three friends.

"But they'll turn up in a month or two!" Fred shouted as the twins walked away. [Y/N] could see the fear in Harry's face. Ron looked at Harry.

"Oh, go on, Harry, Quidditch is great. Best game there is!" Ron said. [Y/N] smiled and nodded. She placed a comforting hand on Harry's shoulder, making the male look at her.

"And you'll be great, to." She said. Harry smiled slightly, thankful for the female's encouragement. Harry's smile then fell.

"But I've never even played Quidditch. What if I make a fool of myself?" He asked. Hermione, overhearing the conversation, closed the book she had been reading for her studies and rushed over to the friends.

"You won't make a fool of yourself. It's in your blood." Hermione said. [Y/N], Ron and Harry looked at each other in confusion. Hermione sighed and lead the three down the hall.

The four approached a trophy case. A Trophy Case Quidditch. Hermione pointed at a plaque of Quidditch players, one in particular. [Y/N]'s eyes widened as she read the name on the plaque.

James Potter

"Whoa. Harry, you never told me your father was a Seeker, too." Ron said in amazement. Harry stared at the plaque and shook his head.

"I-I didn't know." He stuttered.
