Courting the Queen

Elsa yawned as she stretched in her bed. Danny had been so kind to give her a room on the family floor, just to make sure that her aura will be able to stabilize his affect on his family. Still, the fey had somehow managed to make it past the spell that stopped non-family member from entering the family floor and created a room more suited to her. Unlike the rest of the house, everything was white or pastel with motifs from Arendelle.

Stretching her spine, she climbed off her bed and walked into the bathroom to wash her face before looking into the mirror. Her reflection smiled at her, "Your husband-to-be is taking you on a date today! Let's be extra pretty, shall we? The marriage might a done deal, but you still need to show your best side!"

When the mirror first spoke to her, she had been stumped. But it turned out that magical mirrors were a thing in the magical world so she just rolled with it. Still, it was little jarring to see her own reflection making comments on her own appearance. It was generally unhappy when she refused to take on the advice and simply appear as she always did instead of adding extra flair.

But the mirror was right. Today, Danny will take her out on a date to Hogsmeade. Even though she had never been on a date or courted like Anna, she knew that it was only polite to look her best. So she listened to the mirror's advice for once. She was fortunate that her skin was flawless and she didn't need much makeup. Not that she have any. She never did go for the makeup store while in London. But she will use her magic to add some coloring to her eyelids and her lips.

Elsa have seen the modern day's makeup style on the telly. She won't be as caked on as the women on the telly but she will certainly be more than less today. Once she was done with her face, she moved to her hair. Elsa stood there in her bathrobe, thinking; up or down?

She can't just stick with her braid...

After a moment, she decided on a half up.

Once that was done, she looked into her closet for the right dress. She looked out at the weather and hoped for a good, mild one. She then looked back into ther choices she have. She didn't exactly have anything witch-like. She would be standing out in the village. But...

She smiled, "That won't be a problem,"

She finished adding extra details to her dress and looked into the full mirror in her room. It was a dress in icy blue with pastel stars along the hems. However, she decided to be a little more daring and modern today as she made the front shorter than the back, but only up to her calves below her knees. The bodice was conforming to her shape but the sleeves fluttered from her shoulders almost like wings made of lace. It will mix in well with the robes there in Hogsmeade. Only less witch but more...fairytale?

She decided against wearing anything around her neck, instead putting on some delicate little ribbons with butterflies in her hair as accessories. For shoes, she settled for a simple pair of sandals with pastel blue ribbons made to look like she have chrysanthemums on her feet. Once done, she stepped out of her room. She can hear Danny's baritone voice downstairs talking to Harry;

"Be good for Jazz today, alright? I have something very important to do with Elsa at the village below,"

Harry soft voice asked, "What sort of thing?"

Danny laughed, "Making sure that the village is safe for you. We don't want another scare, do we?"

Harry sighed, "Okay..."

Elsa reached the entrance hall and smiled at the sight of Danny dealing with Harry as the boy clung to him by the hip. She was aware that he will be Harry's father and more than just a figure that felt like a father. Even though he was more the boy's granduncle, he was willing to step up and take up the duty of a real father. It warmed her heart to see something like it. Especially with the dangers surrounding the boy, such as the curse in his scar, it will not be an easy road with Danny. But the fact that he was willing to be away from his own realm and worked things out no matter how problematic things were said a lot about him as a person. It was why she did not have much disagreement against his proposal.

Especially when he insisted on treating her right when he really didn't have much of a reason or obligation to do so. When she gave him an out of doing this courtship thing, he insisted on taking this road because this will be a special moment for her. Both as a woman and as a former Queen.

Danny finally noticed her, which didn't take him long at all, and paused with wide eyes as he took her in. She noticed this about him and it made her feel...strange. The way his special eyes just...focused on her. It was the same way he looked when he was working. No man had ever looked at her the way he did. She have met men that looked at her as a trophy, looked at her as a threat, and looked at her as something unreal. But Danny looked at her as something...both unreal and...more. She could not put her finger on it.

Harry greeted her, "Good morning, Mum!" He threw his little arms around her legs, grinning up at her, "You're so pretty today," He then backtracked, "No! You're prettier today! Yesterday you're pretty too! And the day before and the day before..." He insisted to make sure that she know that he always found her pretty.

Elsa lowered her face and kissed his cheek, "Thank you, Harry. You're very handsome everyday too,"

Harry blushed bright red, "...thank you..."

Oh, she would miss it when he grew out of this phase of his. All boys do. They will grow up and found their mothers less pretty than the women who caught their eyes. In the meantime, she will indulge in his adoration of her. After all, though she did not birthed him, Elsa found herself loving him as her own.

Elsa stood up and looked at Danny, "Shall we?"

He blinked and pulled out his shades to hide those strange but beautiful eyes of his, "Come on,"

For the first time since her arrival, Elsa followed Danny out of the iron gate that lead to the Shrieking Shack. The wrought irons that depicted the Tree of Life and a coffin closed behind them. Danny offered his hand to her and Elsa accepted it. She took the time walking down to the village to take him in. Parasol in her other hand, she held onto his elbow, feeling the strength in the muscles of his forearm as he escorted her, looking at his gloved hand that she knew he wore to hide the fact that he was clammy to the touch.

He wore a simple black turtleneck and dark grey wool duster, paired with a simple pair of black jeans and combat ready boots. His face was clean shaven, something that he always made sure to do as he was apparently wired to 'punch guys with a goatee', and his black hair was barely wilder than usual as he styled it with some gel to control them, slightly long and wild with the sides and back shaved close. The front fell over his right brow, suggesting that he wasn't as domesticated as he appeared.

All and all, he was an extremely attractive man to look at.

Danny quirked a brow with a silvery nick in the thick black brow, hinting at his wilder nature, "What is it?"

Elsa shook her head, "Nothing. Just taking you in," She smiled, "I supposed I should feel happy that my husband-to-be is an extremely well groomed and put together gentleman," She teased him when he blushed at her observation, "Though he is bad at hiding the fact that he's rather wild and savage deep down,"

Danny blinked before snorting and breaking into laughter, "Wild and savage, huh? Yeah? What gives it away?"

She pointed at the scar in his brow, the little silver line barely hidden under his collar, and the earring that he wore, "You are quite the viking, sir,"

Danny rubbed his neck, a quirk that Harry was picking up from him, "I guess there's no hiding it. At least I did my best to appear as civilized as possible for my lady,"

Elsa hummed, "And what makes you think I'm civilized? I could be a fairy, tricking you into the woods and trapping you with the trees?"

Danny grinned, his fangs adding to the image of barely restrained savagery within, "Trees, my lady? Trees won't work on me. I have a terrible habit of killing them. You have to plan a different sort of prison for me,"

They joked around like that, Elsa feeling rather bold to use her silly jokes with him and further emboldened when he reciprocated her little play. When they reached the village, they stopped to take in the sight. With school in session, they saw some Hogwarts students darting about as it was a Hogsmeade weekend.

Elsa marveled at the sight, "Oh my...this is...rather nostalgic,"

Danny hummed, "It is whimsical for me. But Harry would have a lot of fun here,"

The two walked around, taking in the sort of things sold by the shops that must have been there since forever, ran by family or relatives. Danny stood around as Elsa excitedly looked through Honeydukes' products, staring at the blood pops. A few students eyeing him in suspicion. Elsa looked at him, "Are you trying them?'

Danny shrugged, "Maybe. I wonder what type-O taste like?"

She blinked at him in surprise, "You partake in blood drinking?"

Danny shrugged, "I know this guy named Alucard and he was the one to introduce me to blood drinking. Not that I do it much. I don't want to fall sick. I just have a taste for blood, that's it," He looked at the blood pops, "I hope they check for illness when they gather ingredients, though. Won't do to catch AIDS and other STD's from eating blood sweets,"

They moved away from Honeydukes with Elsa's enchanted bag that Gandalf gave her as a welcome gift filled with a few of the magical treats to be shared with Harry and Jazz. The village was fulled packed with practically anything that an everyday witch or wizard could look for. They even have a wand shop, though it was apparently the local branch. The main shop was in Diagon Alley, which was located in London.

Danny explained, "I have been to Diagon Alley. Needed to open a bank account in Gringotts, ran by goblins. They don't seem to have a branch here. Not that I'm surprised. They don't exactly have an ATM service like the Muggle banks. But it must be a hassle to have to go down to London just to withdraw more money. Then again, Floo Network,"

Danny stopped by the Zonko's Joke Shop, perusing their products and picking a few that was harmless enough for Harry to enjoy. They didn't just sell magical joke products but also magical toys. Elsa picked a set of magizoology for Harry to play with. Gaming with the telly was scheduled to assure that the young boy didn't become addicted to it. Danny was insistent on this because Harry should be active outside to build a healthy body and being stuck in the house playing games on consoles will not be healthy.

They then came across a sport shop selling flying broomsticks. Elsa stared at the floating broom, the design clearly not made for optimum cleaning. She felt Danny pulling her into the shop by her hand and they looked at the things sold. Apparently, they don't exactly have the flying brooms in the store beside the one on display. They do have brochures for mail order of brooms for the latest line. The shop mostly have broom cleaning kits and other things related to a sport named Quidditch.

Danny hummed as picked a few books talking about the sport, "Wonder if Harry will enjoy the sport," He looked at Elsa, "I wasn't much for sport growing up but I heard James was a sportsman. I don't think he and I will get along well, what with his jock attitude. At least, that was what Jazz told me from all the times Lily complained about him...before she apparently fell head over heel for him,"

They stopped in front a building named The Three Broomsticks and Elsa felt her stomach growl. They didn't exactly took anything for breakfast. Danny hummed, "Let's grab some late breakfast, shall we? I guess I should have figured that they won't have much of a restaurant around hers. After all, these are family businesses and food is probably upstairs for them. Besides, Hogwarts have their own mealtime and these kids can grab their meal if they know how to find the kitchen,"

Elsa nodded as they walked into the idyllic pub. A rather vivacious woman manned the counter, taking orders and waving her wand to serve her customers. She looked up upon their entry and welcomed them, "Take a seat, darlings! I'll attend to you two soon!"

Danny easily found a table for them and escorted her there, using his size to open a path through the crowded floor. He pulled out her chair and took his own after. Menus immediately landed before them and they took a moment to peruse it. Elsa saw all the common British lunch fare but the beverage menu was extensive.

Danny hummed, "No alcohol for me. But apparently butterbeer is very light that even underage students can drink it. The heaviest one is the firewhiskey..." A nearby customer burped out fire from his mouth like a dragon. He blinked at the sight, "Huh...don't know if that's good for me,"

Elsa giggled at his expression, "Maybe there's one that can make your skeleton shiver?"

The owner reached them, "Hello! On a date, are we? What can I get you two darlings?"

Elsa waited for Danny to make his order before looking at her. She gave the lady her own order before watching the lady that the rowdy wizards called Madam Rosmerta return to the kitchen for their order. Elsa noticed that many men eyed her. She supposed that she was a very beautiful witch. She looked forward to see Danny staring at her instead. She was surprised by this but also pleased.

Danny asked, "What do you think about the village?"

Elsa answered, "It is nice. We just visited on a busy day. But it seemed that it is safe enough that Hogwarts students can walk around without worry," She then frowned, "But I am not sure for Harry. There don't seem to be a school for him to attend in the village. Do all witches and wizards taught their children at home before sending them off to Hogwarts? What if both parents work?"

Danny thought about it, "So far, the witches and wizards seemed to have close knit family or community. Everyone seemed to know everybody. Then again, all the children in Britain seemed to go to Hogwarts so I won't be surprised if everybody do know pretty much everyone,"

Their orders arrived. Elsa praised it, "Quick service,"

Danny smiled, "Dig in!"

Elsa found the meal to pleasant and homey. Certainly explain the popularity of the pub. She tried the butterbeer and was immediately in love with how warm and sweet it was. Danny took one look at her expression and chuckled, "Yup! I'm going to need to watch your sugar intake,"

Just because she can't die didn't mean she can't get sick.

Still, she will order a few of these butterbeers to enjoy at a later date.

After their late breakfast, they walked around and saw the students staring at the increasingly uncanny hill where the Shrieking Shack was situated. One of them whispered to his friend, "I heard a necromancer moved in last year and took over the rowdy crowd of ghosts living there,"

His friend whispered back, "Someone said that two headless horsemen are haunting the hill these days, dueling!"

A third one argued, "A friend of mine whose relative visited Hogsmeade said that sometimes this blue flaming ghost will screech real loud at night,"

Her friend frowned, "I don't know. I was here late a few weekends ago and saw that blue flaming ghost. She sounded like a rock band I liked listening to back in the Muggle world," His friends looked at him in disbelief and he argued, "For real. It wasn't just pointless screeching. She was singing! And she have a really nice voice!"

Danny chuckled, catching their attention, "I'll be sure to tell Ember that she have a fan in Hogwarts,"

The boy brightened, "That's her name?" He then frowned, "Wait, how do you know her?"

Danny grinned, showing his fangs, "We happened to be colleague,"

The group of students stared at him, taking in his pale skin, fangs, and pointed ears before gulping and backing away. They quickly excused themselves and running off. Elsa rolled her eyes as Danny cackled at their cowardice, causing them to scream 'vampire' and run faster for 'safety', forgetting that vampires can't walk under the sun. He kept up the silliness until she swatted his shoulder, "Enough. I don't want to be chased out the next time we come visiting,"

Danny stared at the hill where their house was, "...hmm...should I add fogs around the hill? It will crank up the creepy factor, I'm sure. I don't want curious kids to snoop around and see Harry..." He rubbed his chin as he seriously considered it.

Elsa hummed, "I should have Gale play pranks on them. He loves it when he scares people,"

Danny looked at her, "These kids are sleeping in a haunted castle! I mean, sure, Hogwarts ghosts are generally harmless but if they get scared of a wind sprite playing around, I wonder how they even sleep there!"

Elsa shrugged, "People are silly like that," She playfully frowned at him, "I thought you would find pranking and scaring the nosy neighbors to be a good pastime?"

Danny nodded, "Yeah! It is a noble pastime to prank the neighbors and scare the shit out of them! But these kids should at least have some spine against common haunting! They practically have a ghost for a professor!"

The two discussed the silliness of human nature to be afraid of things that they saw everyday just because it was a little different. Danny jokingly argued that they were being "discriminating against ghosts" while Elsa likened it to feeling afraid of roaches despite the bug being rather common. It was a light discussion that stripped away all their seriousness towards each other and showed the hidden child within that was pushed aside for responsibility. Then she found the bookstore and she dragged the whining Danny into the store to look at what sort of books were inside. Danny actually found a box of invisible books that the owner have been searching for forever and thought he was scammed. He just asked the man why he didn't just dust the place with flour or something, it wasn't like he can't just clean the mess after with magic, to which the man looked dumb struck by the rather simple solution. He then proceeded to take a moment at the back where they can hear loud cursing, a rather creative string of words, before returning to his professionalism and attend to them.

After picking a few interesting topics, she asked him, "How did you even find it?"

He pursed his lips before answering, "I kicked something invisible...obviously I'm going to investigate what it is. I mean...it wasn't a nosy ghost journalist, at least," He then immediately knock on the nearest wood twice.

He took her to the local boutique and they marveled over the magical fabrics together. He then encouraged her to order a few witch fashion for herself before insisting that she buy a few of their ready made witch robes for her everyday use in the magical side. It took her a while of changing and showing him the dresses he chose before she realized that he was enjoying the fashion show. It made her less shy by his attention.

The seamstress finished her order easily, thanks to sewing magic, and she then insisted that he chose some wizard fashion for his own use. He looked at the robes warily before looking at her with an expression that she swore she saw Harry used on her once when he wanted help with his homework, despite his shades. Elsa smiled and helped him. However, it turned out that he will need to custom order most of his clothes as they were made for wizards with an average size rather than his towering physique.

The seamstress looked at the address they gave her to mail their orders to, "You're joking?"

Danny grinned, once again showing his fangs, "Nah,"

She stared at him, "Bloody hell..."

When they finally leave the shaken witch, Elsa looked at Danny mischievous grin, "You did that on purpose,"

He shrugged, "They're going to find out soon when we start coming down more often anyway,"

The two started making their way back to the Shrieking Shack, ignoring the curious student watching them. The air between them felt more relaxed now that they have gone on this date. There was no pretending to be polished all the time. They knew each better without people between them, feeling more at ease in each other's presence. For the first time, Elsa thought that perhaps she can marry this man beside her without regret.

Danny stopped a few steps from their gate and looked at her, "Elsa?"

She turned to face him and watched as he pulled off his shade. He looked at her with a more intense focus with his dual colored eyes that made her heart stutter in her chest. She looked at him fully, "Yes?"

He stared at her for a moment, the low evening light causing his eyes to glow from the shadow cast on his face, "May I kiss you?"

Elsa blushed. She thought about waiting for the wedding but...

"Yes,"

His lips felt rough but cool against hers. It was...pleasant.

"Nanna!! Mum and Dad are kissing at the gate!!"
