Big Hands And Feet
Elsa followed Harry for his first visit to The Rook via the Floo. It was still a little dizzying to shoot through the fireplace, passing so many different fireplaces in the process. Pandora Lovegood greeted them upon their exit, "Welcome to The Rook. I'll call Luna down,"
Elsa smiled, "Good morning, Pandora,"
The witch barely heard her as she was already heading up, "Luna dear~! Your friend is here!"
Harry nervously looked around. He have been looking forward this visit for weeks since Halloween. Luna was the first child to be his friend and he was eager to play with her. He even brought Dan. Although Harry treated Dan like his favorite toy, Elsa was aware that her husband-to-be was planning for Dan to build a bond with Harry and became another shield for the boy. Meanwhile, Ellie stayed with Jazz to 'catch up'.
The poor woman's health had taken a turn after Halloween and Danny wanted to marry Elsa before anything unfortunate happen. Elsa hoped that her presence would lengthen the old lady's health but it seemed that, just as before, when the time was approaching, nothing she did can prevent it. So to distract Harry from his grandmother's imminent end, she decided to take him to visit the Lovegood family.
Elsa was little interested by the things that Pandora spoke of. The woman seemed to have a keen interest in natural magic instead of the already existing internal magic within her. She believed that her internal magic can be boosted if only she figure out how to pull in the ambient magic around her. Elsa thought that it sounded dangerous but the witch was passionate. Danny had insisted that she made a friend outside their family and that was the only reason she was there with Harry.
Looking around, she noticed the lack of technology that littered Danny's home. Albus and Minerva had both mentioned how the Shrieking Shack resembled a 'muggle home' more than a witch or wizard's. This will be her first time in a proper magical home. Other than the radio, everything else seemed to work through magic and it wasn't that surprising for her. She have heard the wonder in Albus's voice when he stared at their ectoplasm ran electronics. He once said that magic interfere with electricity and Danny had said that it was because magic itself was already a form of energy. When one add one form of energy over another, it was no surprise that they will short circuit. It was also the same reason why Danny used ectoplasmic energy to power their home for their appliances. He would lock himself in the basement, experimenting with runes as a circuit of sort to see if he can create similar technology that ran fully on magic.
Sometimes, Harry will watch and even help with the runes. It helped him with his reading comprehension and his observation skill. So far, Danny had only succeeded with a magic powered light bulb.
"The first magical light for all mankind! And completely clean energy based too!"
If only he didn't come out of the basement with that light bulb in his hand with his white hair all raised on end as if he had just been shocked by lightning plus the sparking, laughing like a man who just escaped from the asylum. Jazz had taken one look at him and said, "Mad scientist,"
Well, his biggest problem was stabilizing the power output because magic, in his words, can be moody.
A small 3 years old with white blond hair peeked over the railing of the stairs to the second floor, wide blue eyes taking in the sight of the visitors, before disappearing back behind the railing. After a while, a familiar tiny girl in ruffle dress of several clashing colors appeared and grinning toothy grin as she ran towards her son, "Harry!"
Harry grinned back, "Luna!" He waved at her when she came to a stop in front of him, chubby cheeks red, "I'm here! I promised, remember, that we see each other again?"
Luna bobbed her head, "Yes! You are here!" She then crossed the final distance and wrapped her arms around him, "My best friend!"
Elsa just smiled as the two started talking to each other, asking about their day and what they had for breakfast. Harry was being a gentleman as he was taught. Luna was asking him all sorts of questions, one that the boy tried his best to answer.
He then asked her, "Mum, Luna want to show me plimpies at the creak behind the house. May I?"
Elsa smiled, "Of course. Just stay safe, alright, Harry? Luna?"
Harry nodded before hopping towards Luna, who grabbed his hand and dragged him along with her with an excited squeal. She listened as they giggled and chattered about these freshwater gulping plimpies that Luna liked watching and poking. Pandora finally appeared with a tray of tea and snacks, "Oh dear...have you had breakfast? I completely forgot to ask. We seldom receive visitors,"
Elsa gracefully accepted the tea flying towards her, "I understand. And yes, Harry and I already had our breakfast at home. We did not want to intrude on your family's hospitality,"
Pandora stared at her before smiling, "I like you. Most of the people I have met often pointed out how my husband and I are a miracle for finding each other with how scatterbrained we can be,"
Elsa smiled, "Perhaps because you see more than you are willing to say just to be polite,"
Pandora paused for a moment before asking, "Elsa? Not to be impolite or anything but...are you marrying a vampire?"
Elsa burst out giggling, "Oh, no! I know he dreadfully looks the part but Danny is anything but a vampire," She smiled, "Are you worried about me?"
Pandora nodded, "I was. I am not against love. It is just that...such love can be very unhealthy on the heart. After all, to watch your loved one die while you remain the same...I'll feel sorry for both of you,"
Elsa smiled, knowing that Pandora's curious intelligence wasn't the only reason she was attracted to this witch. Pandora reminded her a little of Anna when she was younger. She saw the world through a lens that few were fortunate to see with. It was part gift and part curse. When she was finally Queen when Elsa abdicated the throne, she was forced to hide the part of her that made her so much more special than others. Anna might not have magic but she was gifted with the Sight. She wondered if Pandora have such a gift too.
Pandora asked, "He seemed like such a sweet man. Especially when he looked at you. He looked at you as if he was seeing a miracle. It was an odd way to look at someone,"
Elsa blinked, blushing slightly, "He did?"
Pandora tilted her head, "You didn't notice? But you are marrying him, dear?"
Elsa giggled, "Yes...but there are a lot of things about Danny that I don't know,"
Pandora smiled, "Then you should take the time to get to know him. The surest romance are not forest fire. I believe that the truest romance never end, slow like glacier but true,"
Elsa hummed, accepting the crumpet offered, before asking, "How did you meet your husband, then?"
Pandora's blue eyes, darker than her daughter's, sparkled, "Oh, Philius? Well...there is a funny story behind that! There was I, taking specimen from this recently discovered magical mushroom. Imagine my surprise when this man burst into the clearing, screaming and trampling all over my specimen while ducking his head as if he was being attacked by something invisible!"
That morning, Elsa learned about the man named Xenophilius Lovegood, whose whole family was plagued by the Sight but unable to prove their reality as something real to the rest of the world. Pandora wanted to help her husband and daughter prove that they were not insane, an unfortunate side effect of being able to see the Unseen. So Elsa subscribed to the Quibbler to read what the man thought he saw and what she believed them to be.
So far, Pandora taught her a lot about the government of Magical Britain. Their minister was coming near the end of their service and yet no successor have been chosen. It seemed that everything was too lax for her taste but this wasn't her kingdom, so Elsa held her opinion back. Although the Quibbler sounded more like a conspiracy theorist's rambling, she can see where Xenophilius was coming from. This man was a genius in his roundabout way.
He pierced through the facade of the Ministry of Magic disguised as a madman's rambling. It will take someone who have great interest in riddles and puzzles to understand what he was trying to reveal. In so far, Elsa believed that only very few would be able to discern the truth within his words.
Ellie might have a lot of fun figuring this Quibbler out. She was something of a conspiracy theorist herself. Well, considering the fact that she shouldn't have existed, an impossible existence, she would believe it when someone said that the government was planning to create super soldier in a lab.
But fun with the Quibbler aside, Elsa grilled Pandora on married life. She was getting married and she didn't exactly have friends to talk about this with. Had she been a Queen, married noblewomen will gather around her to tell her this and that about married life. As it was, she could just tap into the well of knowledge that was Ahtohallan to learn about married life but she...she was hesitant. After all, those were private memories. She refused to be a sort of voyeur just to learn something.
Pandora giggled about how her Philius liked it when she took charge, like inviting him for 'things'. She said, "I have heard stories of men being refused by their wives because she wasn't in the mood. But really, you should just be up front and tell him that you wanted some cuddling or other more emotional connection, like talking in bed, for example, instead of getting mad at him for wanting sex. You see, men are very simple creatures. Good men even more so. What you give him up front is exactly what he will take from that. So if you start playing games with him, well...those tended to end up bad,"
Elsa raised a brow, sipping her tea to hide her blush, "Bad like how?"
Pandora hummed, "Well...men aren't made for mind games. Mind games are for the enemies, not for loved ones. Witches talked about sincerity all the time but wizards have always been sincere when pursuing a witch. It is usually the witch that is not sincere with him. She thought that she should test him for his sincerity and his honesty and his loyalty with all sorts of games. Well...he's not exactly playing a game with her. Not when he really wants her. What he show you is what you get,"
Elsa thought about it, "What if he...ask you for a kiss out of the blue?"
Pandora shrugged, "He just want a kiss. Nothing more," She smirked slyly, "Now, married men tended to wait for the wives to give him cues that she's interested in more than just a kiss. Sure, some wizards are more proactive in pursuing his witch. But he preferred it more that you start it so he won't be stepping on your toes and end up sleeping on the couch," She then added, "Mind you, this is something he learned when you have children. After all, taking care of a baby can be very tiring and sometimes you're just not in the mood. I have heard that relationship can sour during such a time as the husband will feel neglected by his wife. Do not make this mistake. Give him some attention too. A kiss on the cheek or a hug should do it. Just let him know that you still want him in your life,"
Elsa hummed before asking the most important question, "What about sex?"
Pandora paused and thought about it, "Sex? Well...it is hard with children around. Especially young ones. I suggest putting up the one sided silencing charm around the bedroom so you can hear what goes on outside but nothing from the inside will leave the room,"
Elsa shook her head, "No! I mean...does it really hurt...?"
Pandora blinked and looked at her, "You mean...you and he never...?"
Elsa shook her head, "No...not once. He...he held my hands, hugged me, and give me kisses. Something that Harry will make a lot of noises about when he saw it," She giggled at the memory of the few times he kissed her and just as it felt like he would deepen it from the chaste kiss, Harry will find them. She added, "Sometimes it felt like he wanted more but...he will always stop," It wasn't just Harry. It felt like he was waiting for something. She sighed, "I worry. I know that he have experience but my...my upbringing meant waiting for marriage. What if I displeased him with my lack of experience?"
Pandora touched her hand, "Elsa, believe me. He is just respecting your boundaries. I am sure he is aware of your upbringing and perhaps had he pressed for more, you might be spooked by his ardent desire for you," She wiggled her brows, causing Elsa to giggle into her tea. Pandora continued, "I won't worry too much. Sure, incompatibility in the bedroom can cause stress in a relationship but...sex isn't the only reason why you marry each other, yes? Emotional connection can make even the most awkward bedroom relationship interesting and exciting to discover. You just need to learn more about each other,"
Elsa smiled, "I see..."
Royalties waited, especially female royalties, so that no bastard child can take the throne. Not that it prevented bastards from appearing in histories. However, for Elsa, it was more than just the purity of her child's blood that she waited. She honestly believed that marriage was not something she will ever experience. So she never really investigate things like sex and the likes. It was only now that she dared to even think about such things. After all, she will be married in spring.
Now, why didn't she ask Jazz about such matters?
Well, for one, it was extremely embarrassing for her to ask Jazz. Not to mention, this was her brother she will be asking about! What sister would want to think her brother in such a manner? Still, Jazz was sleeping more and more often. Elsa didn't want to bother her when she was awake.
Pandora brought her out of her musing, "Elsa. Perhaps you can read some books that would give you a glimpse of the sort of things you can look forward to," She waved her wand, "I have a few that I would recommend you for some...late night reading?"
Elsa stared at the three hardcover books with gold lettering embellished on the front. She could ask Danny for one of his inventions, a laptop or a tablet, to peruse for sexual education. But she felt unsure about going to him for such things. It felt like he could read her intention should she ever ask him for such things. Elsa chewed on her lips as she looked at the books before relenting, "Thank you. I'll make good use of them,"
It was late noon when Harry and Luna returned with red cheeks. He approached Elsa, "I threw a gnome!" At her confused look, he explained, "Someone threw a gnome and almost hit Luna so I threw him back at this rude boy from over the creak!"
Elsa snorted before shaking her head, "And is that why you are all muddy?"
Harry looked at his muddy clothes before admitting, "He started it! He called Luna weird! I can't let someone mean call my best friend weird! I was being...being...chi...chiva...chiru...?"
Elsa supplied, "Chivalrous?"
He pointed one muddy finger to the sky, "Yeah!"
Elsa looked to wet Luna, "And why is Luna wet?"
Luna smiled, "I fell into the water because the gnome scared me,"
Harry bobbed his head like a toy, "Yeah! And now she's sneezing!"
Luna adorably sneezed at that point. Pandora giggled before picking up her sodden daughter, "Alright! I think it's time someone take a bath!"
Elsa looked at Harry, "I think it's time we head back, alright?"
Harry pouted a little before looking at Luna, "I'll come again, okay?"
Luna waved her little hand, her flaxen hair sticking to her round cheeks, "Bye Harry!"
Harry waved back with a toothy grin, "Bye Luna!"
After shooting through more fireplaces, Elsa gracefully stepped out and shook soot off of Harry's hair. She shook her head and quickly told him, "Go warm up with a warm soak, okay? After that, check of Danny for lunch,"
Harry shot through the house, babbling about telling Luna about Nokk and how she should always look out for white eyes in the water or the Nokk might drown her because she might be lying about something. Elsa smiled as he disappeared into his room and returned to her own. She placed the books borrowed from Pandora on her bedside table before going to warm up in the bathroom.
After a good, long soak, she changed into something more homey and looked at the books. Her cheeks warmed, thinking about the giggling stories that Anna tried not to share with her. Anna once mentioned about Kristoff's hands and feet. Elsa can't exactly recall the importance of that, though.
Lunch was normal. Jazz listened on the side while Elsa showed Ellie the Quibbler. Ellie was, as expected, interested in the paper. Even though it wasn't as famous as the Prophet. Harry then said midway during lunch, "I forgot Dan!"
Danny hummed, "I'll send a letter to them to lock him up for the night,"
Harry looked at him, "Why lock him up?"
Danny answered with a very serious face, "He might gobble up their faces when sleeping,"
Harry grimaced, "Ew,"
Elsa smiled, though inside her mind was racing with all the things Pandora shared with her about married life. She imagined waking up next to Danny every morning. She knew that a sleeping Danny can be creepy as he stopped breathing altogether. She had seen him knocked out cold from fatigue, after all. She also imagined the possible annual argument of no snuggling during summer. Though that did not seem like something either he or she will struggle with as they were both able to emit their own chill. Her from the outside and he from within himself. The only thing that Pandora told her to expect but never look forward to was the farting.
Elsa tried not to think about that. It may sound disgusting but it was part of being alive. She didn't know if Danny fart in his sleep and she wasn't even sure if she fart in her sleep. But it was part of being married that they will just have to accept.
Elsa pushed all thoughts of gut movement and flatulence aside to focus on the guest list.
They didn't have much to invite. The fey will just invite themselves but she still gave them their invitation just to be polite. Danny have a harder time not inviting someone as many could cause mayhem just being there. Unlike her, he was busy making a blacklist of unwanted guest. She knew that she will invite the Professors of Hogwarts that was part of creating this little haven of theirs. She wasn't sure if they could attend, though. After all, it will be during the school year and they would have a tight schedule to follow.
Dinner was as usual too, though Jazz decided to have hers in her bedroom as she did not feel so good that evening. Ellie accompanied her. Jazz insisted that Danny and Elsa eat with Harry for every meal. She didn't want the little boy to feel pushed aside just because she didn't feel so good. So they honored her wish by eating as a family. Harry whined about Dan not being there but Danny put his foot down, "Just don't forget about him next time, okay?"
Elsa placated him, "I'm at fault too. I should have checked that we have everything on us before leaving,"
Harry shook his head, "No. Dan is my responsibility," He nodded grimly, "I should be the one to make sure that I didn't leave him behind. Poor Dan,"
Elsa will forever be grateful to all the powers that be that Harry was such a reasonable and bright child. Truly, his relatives would have ruined him had he remained with them. She wished that they never cross path with each other, ever. Related or not, no child deserved being raised like Harry was with them.
That night, she settled for the evening when her eyes landed on the books. She gulped, knowing that this was her chance to investigate what really happened between man and woman behind closed doors. She knew male and female biology and physical differences. But that was it. She knew that men was supposed to insert himself inside the female but that sounded too cold and impersonal. Not to mention painful.
Pain. That was the only thing consistent when talks of sex were whispered near her. Elsa might be immortal but she did not fancy pain. But Pandora didn't seem to be disdainful of the idea of copulating with her husband. Neither did Anna but Elsa never asked her sister such thing. It was inappropriate as her husband was too close to her. Asking strangers felt less daunting as they would hardly interact with each other. So she settled on her bed to read her first erotica...
The next morning, she couldn't even look at Danny who have big hands and feet.
Danny asked her, "Are you alright?"
Elsa hid her face, squeaking, "I'm fine!"
