Into EchoFlame Kingdom
Vice Principal Lune walked into a large clearing and she knelt down. She picked up a leaf and hummed softly.
"The sword is gone," she said to Magnar as the dragon walked up to her, "Penumbra will be most displeased." "I will tear apart anyone who has taken it," Magnar spat.
Vice Principal Lune huffed, "worry not, you brute. I believe I know where to find it." Her eyes glowed a brighter cerulean color and her pupils turned to slits.
Meanwhile, Nimbus, the girls and the hatchlings flew through the clouds.
"This is awesome!" Rhonda squealed and Stacy had to laugh at her friend's excitement. Felicity clung to Anika, looking nervous.
Anika gently patted her shoulder. "It's alright, sugarcube," she said reassuringly, "you're alright." Thorn squeaked and chirped at Felicity as he spun in a loop. Lazarus chirped as he clung to Anika's shoulder.
"How far is this kingdom of yours?" Trinity asked curiously. She was holding Nyx who was surprisingly asleep during the flight.
"It's not that far, Trinity," Nimbus said, flicking his tail, "but if I'm correct, the sword will lead us." He looked at Savannah. She bit her bottom lip and she looked at the bracelet. The gemstone started glowing.
Nimbus watched it then the girls jumped when there was an unholy screech. Nimbus cursed.
"Everybody, hold on!" He said before he snatched the girls and the hatchlings up in his arms and he started flying faster.
"Wha-what's happening!?" Reyna asked. Saphira hissed and screeched. The girls looked up to see black dragons flying towards them, snarling and hissing.
"Are those the Dark Dragons!?" Penelope exclaimed.
"Yes!" Nimbus answered as he quickly dodged an incoming Dark Dragon that had tried to barrel into him. Nimbus spun around and he fired bright blue flames at the Dark Dragons.
"There's too many!" Rhonda yelled. Nimbus gritted his teeth before he quickly dived down and he landed in a clearing.
"Keep running north," he said sternly as he set the girls down, "until that bracelet's gem starts glowing, keep running!"
The Dark Dragons stalked towards the group, growling.
Felicity squeaked in fear and Anika widened her eyes.
"GO!" Nimbus shouted and he spun around to face the Dark Dragons. He charged at them with a roar.
The girls turned and started running down a dirt path.
"Is that bracelet glowing yet?!" Rhonda exclaimed.
"No!" Savannah said and she shook her wrist frantically. She felt her heart pounding in her chest. 'Please work, please work! Please!'
The gem didn't do anything. It just kept glowing. There was a screech and a Dark Dragon was flying towards them.
Penelope, Reyna and Stacy screamed in fear. Savannah spun around and the bracelet glowed brightly. As if everything was happening in slow motion, the sword appeared in Savannah's hands and she swung it at the Dark Dragon. The dragon yelped in pain as the sword pierced its shoulder.
Savannah widened her eyes, gasping softly. She yelped as the Dark Dragon flew up and she held onto the sword before she kicked the dragon in the jaw and she yelped as she fell back onto the ground.
Emberon widened his eyes and squeaked with worry. Savannah rubbed the small of her back and she widened her eyes as the Dark Dragon growled, baring its teeth at her.
Felicity looked around frantically before she grabbed a rock and she threw it at the dragon. It hit the dragon in the forehead and it snarled in surprise. It stepped back, shaking its head.
"Leave my friend alone, you big bully!" Felicity shouted. Rhonda widened her eyes before she looked at the others. "Grab rocks, grab anything!" She said as she looked around for more rocks and twigs.
The Dark Dragon hissed at the girls only to yelp when they started throwing twigs and rocks at it. It shook its head wildly before it snarled and fired black smoke at them.
"GIRLS!" Savannah screamed, her eyes widening. Nimbus tackled the Dark Dragon hard and he bit its neck before he tossed it to the side.
The girls were coughing and trying to wave the smoke out of their faces.
"Damn it!" Nimbus snapped at the air. He waved his claws and they started glowing a bright sky blue color. He swung them across the ground and a wall of blue fire flew up.
The Dark Dragons skidded to a stop, hissing and growling.
Nimbus grabbed Savannah and pulled her to her feet. "Somehow you know how to use it!" He said, "put it to use!"
"I-I did!" Savannah exclaimed nervously. Nimbus snorted and he looked at the gem. It glowed brightly and a beam of white light flew from the gem and it flew past the trees.
"What the heck is that supposed to do?!" Rhonda asked, startled.
"It leads to the entrance!" Nimbus huffed before he gathered the girls and the hatchlings and he flew up after the beam of light.
There was a loud roar and Nimbus felt his heart drop. He recognized that roar.
"N-Nimbus, what is that?" Stacy asked nervously.
"Just... just hold onto me and the hatchlings," Nimbus said, "as tight as you can."
The girls exchanged worried and nervous glances and they held the hatchlings close. Thorn whimpered softly. Nimbus continued to fly after the beam of light.
Magnar roared as he flew towards the group.
Savannah widened her eyes. "Big dragon! Big dragon!" Penelope yelped, her eyes widening. Nimbus gritted his teeth as he flew after the beam of light. He dived down and he saw a large white portal.
"Hold on!" He shouted as he closed his wings and he started freefalling towards the portal.
"NO!" Magnar roared as he dived after the dragon.
"Nimbus!?" Trinity shouted as she held onto both him and Nyx.
The portal closed in and the girls screamed. Magnar roared but before he could grab Nimbus's tail, he, the girls and the hatchlings zipped right through the portal and it closed. Magnar snarled as he landed on the ground with a thunderous boom.
He looked around, snorting with anger. The Dark Dragons walked towards him but they kept their distance as if they could feel his rage.
Magnar roared in anger and he swiped his claws across the ground then he snorted again. He glared at the Dark Dragons, "get back to the empire."
They immediately did so, not wanting to be direct targets of the lieutenant's anger. Once they were gone, Vice Principal Lune walked towards the large dragon, an apathetic expression on his face.
Magnar whirled around and he wrapped his claws around her neck, eyes blazing with fury. "I should twist your neck for this," he snarled darkly.
Vice Principal Lune didn't flinch at the sudden attack. "But that won't bring you further towards the end game, now will it?" She asked calmly. The two stared at each other before Magnar scoffed and he let go of her. He turned away, his tail lashing sideways.
"Frost's little brat had a bunch of girls and the hatchlings with him," he growled.
Vice Principal Lune whipped her head towards him, her eyes narrowing. "What girls?"
"I don't know," Magnar huffed, "but one of them had the sword and used it on one of the Dark Dragons. She had orange hair and... bright cerulean eyes."
Vice Principal Lune widened her eyes before she turned away, biting her fingers. Magnar raised a scaly eyebrow at her before he narrowed his eyes.
"Is there something I should know, Lune?" He hissed, looming over her. She glared at him, "you cannot harm those girls."
"You cannot tell me what to do," he growled, "how are these girls so important to you anyway? They will only get in the way of Penumbra's reign."
"If Savannah has the sword, then she will fit into this plan! This will work," Vice Principal Lune growled.
Magnar sneered before he stomped past her. "You better make this work, Lune," he hissed.
Trinity slowly opened her eyes and she widened them. "Whoa!" Rhonda and Anika exclaimed, amazed.
The hatchlings squealed and chirped, their tails wagging happily. Nimbus smiled softly.
There were many dragons of all kinds; wyverns, wyrms, serpents, lindworms, amphithere and drakes.
It was like a huge island. Nimbus landed on the ground and he set the girls down. Savannah's knees wobbled and she fell over with a yelp. Emberon squeaked in surprise and worry.
"That... that was crazy!" Rhonda said, placing a hand over her heart. "Crazy?! We were almost killed by that giant brute of a dragon!" Reyna exclaimed, throwing her hands up.
"What matters now is that we're here," Nimbus said, "let's just focus on that. Come on, up you get. I need to introduce you to the Councilors."
"Councilors?" Stacy repeated in confusion, "you have Councilors?" "They're important for the kingdom," Nimbus sighed as he started walking, "they've been on Celeste's side since she became queen and now that she's... gone... they're in charge now."
"That's not very reassuring," Felicity whispered to Reyna who nodded nervously in agreement.
"Stay close to me, understand?" Nimbus said sternly, "no human has ever stepped foot into the kingdom of EchoFlame before."
The girls nodded as they held the hatchlings close to them.
Being in EchoFlame, it reminded Penelope of the village home she used to live in before she moved to New York. There were a lot of stands filled with food and crystals. There were even pieces of metal and flowers of all kinds.
She saw wyrms scurrying past them. One of them tripped with a squeak.
"Awww!" She giggled. She walked over and gently helped it up. The wyrm looked up at her in surprise before it glanced at Lazarus and scurried after its friends.
Penelope smiled and yelped when Nimbus grabbed her by the shirt and set her down next to Stacy and Felicity. He gave her a firm look, "what did I just say?"
"But there's so many sights to see!" The girl whined. Nimbus rolled his eyes. There was a squeal and he looked over to see Reyna staring at the crystals with admiration.
"Lapis Lazuli, Sapphires, Rubies, Jaspers, Garnets, oh my!" She squealed. A light red dragoness glared at her and gave a small hiss. Before Reyna could do or say anything, Nimbus grabbed her and set her down next to Anika.
"Like I said... stay beside me," he grumbled. They continued walking.
Emberon looked around, chirping and cooing. Savannah looked at him and chuckled, "something tells me you like this place, huh?"
The little dragon hatchling looked up at her with wide eyes and nodded fervently. Nyx nestled into Trinity's arms and she looked around curiously. Then she climbed onto Trinity's shoulder and she saw a macaroon yellow and white dragon glowering at them from above a cliff.
Nimbus looked around, flicking his tail. He sighed. Savannah looked at him, "are you looking for someone?"
"Yes," he said, "my sister, Cumulus."
"Nimbus!" A female dragoness shouted as she flew over to the group. She was a stormy gray with white wings and she had ocean blue eyes. Nimbus smiled and he nuzzled her.
"I've missed you too, Cu," he chuckled, "any chances you could help me?" "Of course!" She said and she looked at the girls then her eyes widened. Her tail started wagging. "No way! Are these the humans you told me about!? And the hatchlings! They're so cute!"
Zephyr squealed indignantly and she flapped her wings. Cumulus giggled.
"Humans!?"
The girls looked over to see a bunch of dragons, drakes and wyverns gathering around, staring at them with wide eyes, some friendly, some unfriendly.
"Looks like we've caught the attention of the paparazzi," Penelope joked. Rhonda snickered. Nimbus growled and he stepped in front of the girls. Cumulus stood by her brother, flicking her tail.
"There's nothing to see here," Nimbus said firmly, "move along." "Oh, come on, Nimbus," a dark orange Drakelet huffed, "just because you're Cirrus's kids doesn't mean you get to keep us in the dark."
"Yeah, well, us being our father's kids has nothing to do with the humans," Cumulus chuckled, "we're taking them to see him right now actually."
"What is going on here!?" A voice snarled and the crowd quickly parted for the macaroon yellow and white dragon as he stormed towards them.
"We're taking the humans and the hatchlings to see the Council, Solas," Nimbus said firmly as he stood his ground. Solas scowled and he glared at Savannah.
"Human feet have never stepped foot into EchoFlame kingdom before," he sneered, stepping towards her, "who are they?"
"Their names are Savannah, Trinity, Reyna, Stacy, Anika, Penelope, Rhonda and Felicity," Nimbus said sternly, "now leave them alone."
Solas snarled. Before Savannah could react, he swiped his claws at her. Instinctively, she ducked and the sword appeared in her hands. She pointed it at Solas and the crowd gasped.
Solas stared at her with wide eyes. "That sword...," he murmured, "it... you...," he snarled and stood up, flaring his wings open, "WHY DO YOU HAVE IT?"
Rhonda and Trinity got in front of Savannah, glaring up at him. "What's your deal, man!?" Rhonda snapped.
"A human shouldn't have the Sword of Orion!" Solas snarled, baring his teeth, "how do you have it!?" He reached for the sword. Emberon hissed and he jumped up and bit his talon. Solas snarled and he shook his claws.
"Emberon!" Savannah yelped, her eyes widening with surprise and worry.
"Get. Off!" Solas snapped and he shook his claws even more. Emberon let go of the yellow dragon's talon and he landed in Felicity's arms. He hissed at Solas, baring his teeth.
"What is going on here!?"
The crowd parted even more as a larger cloudy white, muscular dragon flew over and landed in front of the girls, the hatchlings and the two dragons. He was white with stormy gray wings and his eyes were a mesmerizing blue color. Medium scars littered his arms and chest.
He looked at the girls then at the hatchlings then at Nimbus and Cumulus who looked nervous. He sighed deeply.
"Nimbus, Cumulus, take the humans and the hatchlings to the Meeting Cave. Solas, you go with them," he said and he glared at the crowd, "the rest of you, beat it!"
The crowd immediately dispersed. Savannah, Trinity, Felicity and Penelope got on Nimbus's back, and Rhonda, Reyna, Stacy and Anika got on Cumulus's back and the two dragons flew up into the air. Solas flew after them and after a few moments, the older dragon followed.
"I assume that's your dad?" Reyna asked Cumulus. The dragoness giggled, "yep. His name is Cirrus. He's the most respected dragon in the entire kingdom. No one could hold a candle to the way he handles Solas's outbursts."
"Is he always like that?" Savannah asked. "Well, he's been distant and snappy since Celeste died," Nimbus sighed, "he hasn't had a good childhood, to be honest." "Why?" Trinity asked with a frown.
"Celeste took him in after his parents were killed by Dark Dragons," Nimbus explained, "he was only five years old."
"That's awful," Felicity said sadly. Nimbus sighed softly, "it is."
The dragons flew over to a large mountain-like cliff and they flew through the rooftop opening. The girls saw so many statues of dragons, drakes and wyverns in different flying and fighting poses.
"What are those?" Reyna asked. "They're kings and queens of the past," Cirrus answered as they landed. The girls climbed down from Cumulus and Nimbus's backs and they looked at the older dragon.
"Now as my daughter said, my name is Cirrus. And... I believe an explanation is due," he said calmly, flicking his tail.
