Prologue
The wind blew through the broken buildings at the southeastern part of the city. This was known as the ruined part of the city, left to be abandoned and let time take it's toll on the buildings until there's nothing left but rubble. The wind blew back my long, black jacket as I look over what's left of the city. I heard some howls in the distant from Beowulfs, calling for their herd.
"Time to have some fun," I said as I took a few steps backwards.
Then, I started to run towards the edge of the building and jumped off of it and land on the building next to it. Just as I land on the roof, I somersaulted to prevent any damage on my legs and continue until I found the group of Beowulfs.
"Two alpha Beowulfs and seventeen smaller Beowulfs. This might be fun after all," I said as I activated my weapons Eden and Azazel.
Both area, what I call, wildcard weapons. (A/n: the weapon is similarly structured as hidden blade from Assassin's Creed, but a lot longer.) They're base form are gauntlets that reach from my wrists to upper arms, and they can transform from bulletproof gauntlets, to guns, crossbows, hidden blades, swords, sickles and finally, scythes. These last two are chained to what's left of the frame.
I activated sword mode on Eden, the white and light yellow gauntlet on my right arm, and activated the scythe mode on Azazel, the black and red gauntlet on my left arm. I struck the scythe to the roof and started to run off the building and swung down, with my sword prepared to strike. As soon as I was close to them, I change the scythe to the gauntlet form again,so it releases from the roof. I quickly approach the Grimms and strike my sword to the closest Beowulf's skull, killing it instantly.Next, I used my gauntlet to uppercut the next one and activating sword mode, just for good measure.
I activate on both my gauntlets the crossbow mode, and prepared myself for some long range fighting. I knew that the normal ammunition wont do much against these thick boned creatures, so I decided to use my semblance for this group of Grimm. Fire dust started to flow out of a bottle on my waist and went to the tip of the arrow.
"Come at me, you fuckers," I said as I aimed both of my arms towards them.
The Grimms started toc harge towards me and when they were close, I shot both my crossbows, killing the two alphas and the a few of the Beowulfs around it. Next, I transformed them to sickles and started running towards them. One of them tried to jump on me, but I quickly duck under it, and aimed my sickles upward, cutting the beast's belly. I stand and prepared myself for the next Beowulf that would approach me.
"Still want to continue, or do you want to run?" I asked them.
They immediately started to run away.
"Yeah... not going to happen," I said as I started to use my semblance.
This time, ice dust started to float in front of me. I aimed my arm towards the running Beowulf and the dust started to fly at great speed towards them. I aimed the dust to their neck, killing them almost instantly.
"Well, that was fun while it lasted. Now, what time is it?" I asked myself as I look upto the sky.
"Mmm, nighttime is approaching. I should look for a new location for the night," I said as I started to walk around the ruined city.
A few hours has passed when I found a place to rest. Used a little bit of fire dust to start a fire, and used my long black jacket as a blanket. I don't mind this life style really. In fact, I really enjoyed the freedom I got here.
About thirteen years ago, I fled from the orphanage and started to live this lifestyle. It was very though to survive in the beginning, but here I am now. A free running, wildcard warrior that kills Grimm for fun. It beats being stuck and in an orphanage and being bullied for all the time that I was there. But... there was one thing that I do miss from that place.
I pulled out my pendant, which was shaped in a tribal style heart with wings, and opened it up, revealing a six year old me, and the only friend that I had. A short girl named Neopolitan. Just like her name, her hair was halfbrown and the other half pink with white accents in it. Her eyes had a similar pattern as her hair, one brown and the other pink. She was mute, but we always could talk for hours. She even taught me how to speak in sign language.
"I wonder where you are, Neo. But... where ever you are, I only hope that you're happy," I said to myself as I look out at the starry sky.
I decided to close my eyes and eventually fall asleep. When the sun started to rise over the horizon, I slowly started to wake up. I stand up and started to do stretching exercises as I made my way towards one of the many giant holes that was near the building. But I saw something near the opening. It was a basket of fruit.
"I know that I shouldn't look a gift horse to the mouth, especially with my lifestyle, but I really want to know who is sending me these baskets of fruit and thank them personally," I said out loud.
Yes, this happens everyonce in a while when I was running low on my food supply. In fact, it started just when I fled from the orphanage. When it first happened, I was very surprised to say the least. But it wasn't just fruit when it first happened. It was also how I obtained Eden, Azazel and the mask that I wear constantly.
The mask is a very curiousthing. One the outside, it looked like a plastic theater mask of some sort, but in reality, it was a very high tech mask with night vision, heat vision, radar, and it records everything. Another curious thing about it is that visible side of the mask mimics my expressions behind the mask.
Anyway, I grab my bag and started to put the fruit in it, except for an apple that I take as breakfast. While I was eating, I was checking on my dust bottles, and it seams that I was running low on some of them.
"Hmm, it seams that I have to visit that underground area again for some dust. I'm still curious on how it got there. Oh well, I can't really complain. Dust is dust, and should probably head there right now," I said as I walk out of the building that I was resting in and looking for thegiant hole in the street.
-Beacon-
Ozpin was looking over Beacon from his office while he sips from his coffee. That was, until Glynda enters his office.
"Greetings, Glynda. Was there something you needed from me?" Ozpin asked in a calm manner.
"No, but something did arrive for you," she responded as she pulls out a scroll.
This wasn't the glass devices that they used everyday, this was an actual paper scroll. The curiosity got the better of him, so he opened it and start to read it out loud.
Greetings Ozpin.
We both know that the lights of Remnant are starting to flicker and darkness is approaching. But not all hope is lost. There's still a chance to change the flow of the river. But we're going to need someone. Someone that... isn't aware of his origins and that roams freely on the face of Remnant. Lucky for you, my dear friend, he lives in Vale but it's up to you to find him. Here's a hint, he's where no one dares to be anymore.
Once you find this person, don't say anything about his origins. He'll need to learn that once he's ready. I hope that this will help us shape the future for the better.
We'll meet each other soon.
Signed, Apollion.
"Apollion, heh? It sure has been a while," said Ozpin.
"Should've figured that the message was from him. What does it say?" Glynda asked curiously.
"According to him, there's someone here in Vale that can help us with what is coming up," he explained.
"Really now? Did he also said who it is and where to find this person?" she asked.
"Not really. The only thing that he said was that he lives where no one dares to be anymore," he explained.
"He's even more vague than you are at time," Glynda commented.
"That may be true, but it at least narrows it down," he said as he looks back to the outside world.
"Where should we start looking?" she asks as she walks over to him.
Ozpin takes a sip from his cup and smiles.
