Ruby slowly started to regain consciousness after what happened at the tower of Beacon, but she wasn't there anymore. She was at her room in Patch. She slowly sits up and saw that her father, Taiyang, in a chair near her bed with his eyes closed. She lets out a groan of exhaustion, and this caught Tai's attention.

"Ruby," Tai started as he quickly walks towards Ruby's side, "You're awake."

"What happened?" Ruby asked.

"*Sigh* Your uncle Qrow found you, unconscious. He got you out of there though, he brought you home safe," he explained.

She looks down and started to think, then she remembered her sister.

"Wait, Yang! Is she alright?" Ruby asked in a panicked tone.

"Ehh... She's ehh... She's going to be alright. I think she just... I think it just going to take some time for her to get used to things. She's too strong to let this stop her," He explained in an uneasy tone as he put his hand against his face.

"*Sigh* I'm just glad too have my girls back at home," said Tai with a sad smile.

"What happened to the school? And Vale? Were they able to clear out the Grimm?" Ruby asked, still in a worried tone.

"Things in Vale are under control, but the school... it's... it's not that simple. It's invested with all kinds Grimms, but the giant beast... Don't get me wrong, you did a number on it, but it seams that someone else decapitated it. It's just... All the Grimms still feel the residual energy from the attack," Tai tried to explain.

"I did... what?" Ruby asks as she tilts her head.

"Huh?" Tai asked back.

"You said that I did a number on it, what do you mean?" Ruby asked with concern.

"I... look, that's not important right now. We can talk about this later. Things are just... kind of a mess," Tai tried to explain.

"It's always a mess," said a third voice in the room.

Both Ruby and Tai look towards the source of the voice, only to find Qrow drinking from his flask at the door.

"Mind if we have a minute?" Qrow asked.

"What, I can't stay here?" Tai asked, feeling a bit offended.

"Tai, please," he simply said.

Tai sigh as he stands up and kisses Ruby's forehead.

"I'm glad you're alright. I'll go make us some tea," Tai said as he walks out of the room.

Qrow pick up a chair and brought it next to Ruby's bed, and sits on it.

"So, how are you feeling?" Qrow asked.

"Umm... I'm kind of hurt... all over," Ruby responded.

"*Chuckles* That makes sense, after what you did," he simply said.

"You guys keep saying that, that I did something. What are you talking about?" she asked a bit frustrated.

Qrow straitened his posture and leans towards Ruby.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Qrow asked.

"I ran up the side of the tower, and when I got to the top, I *gasp* (F/n). Is he...?" Ruby as tears started to form.

"No, he's out there somewhere," he simply stated.

"B-but I saw him die. He disintegrated into petals. And then... everything went white," she said, tightening her grip on her blanket as tears falls on it.

"He must've faked his death, to help you unlock your power, because he brought you to me," Qrow explained.

"What powers?" she asked as tears still flowed down from her eyes.

"The night you met Ozpin, what was the first thing he said to you?" he asked.

"I-I... I don't know. I think it was something about-"

"Silver eyes," Qrow cut her off.

Ruby stopped crying as she looks towards her uncle.

"That's an extremely rare trait," he said.

"So?" she asked, not understanding what he means.

"You're special, Ruby. And not in the 'dad loves her special angel' kind of way. You're special the same way your mom was," Qrow said.

Ruby stayed silent, not knowing what to say.

"Remnant is full of legends and stories. Some are true, some are made up. But there's one Oz told me from very long time ago. Back before Huntsmen, before kingdoms, there was said that those born with silver eyes were destined to lead the life of a warrior. You see, creatures of Grimm, the most fearsome monster that mankind has ever encountered, were afraid of those silver eyes warriors. They were the best of the best. They said that even a single look from one of these fighters could strike a Grimm down. Heh, it's a ridicules story," Qrow explained.

"But... you think that I might be..." Ruby started.

"Heh, well, the giant monster was frozen up on Beacon's tower for a while, before someone else decapitated the statue. You're here, safe in bed," Qrow said as he stands up from his chair and walks towards the window.

"Wait... wait, how did you know what Ozpin said to me? The night we met..." Ruby asked in a slightly worried tone.

"All those missions I go on, all the times I'm away in some far off place... It's been for Ozpin. But he's missing now. Something's been set in mothion... and with Oz gone, I'll have to pick up where he left off," Qrow explained as he looks out of the window.

"Then what can I do? If I'm so special, then I can help! Right?" Ruby ask with a hint of hope in her voice.

"*Sigh* You really wanna help? Get some rest. You're in no condition to go anywhere right now," said Qrow as he leaves the room, but before he leaves, he turns to Ruby one more time.

"Besides, our enemy's trail leads all the way to Haven. That'd be quite a trip for a pipsqeak like you. Catch you later, kiddo," said Qrow as he finally leaves the room.

A few minutes later, Ruby enters her sister's room, only to find her in bed... with one arm missing. Her arm was bitten off by a Ursa while she was trying to rescue Blake.

"Yang?" Ruby asked shyly, but she didn't respond.

After a couple of seconds, she was about to leave until...

"Ruby," she called her.

Ruby stayed at the door for a moment, until Yang turns to face her as tears started to form on her eyes. Ruby then quickly went and hugged her sister.

"I'm so glad you're okay," said Ruby, hugging her older sister.

"But I'm not," said Yang, no emotion in her voice.

Ruby release her sister from her hug and looked at Yang's missing arm.

"It's all gone. The school... Penny... and..." Yang said in a depressed tone.

"Yang, where are Weiss and Blake?" Ruby asked, feeling a bit worried.

"Weiss's father... came for her," she explained.

"What? What do you mean?"

"No one outside of Vale knows what happened here. Before the tower fell... The last thing people saw was Atlas attacking innocent people and Grimm destroying the city. Everyone's scared. No one knows who to trust. So Weiss's father came to take her back to Atlas, where he thinks it's safe. She's gone," Yang explained.

"What about-" Ruby started.

"And Blake ran!" Yang cut her off.

"Sun saw her go. After we got to the city... she just... ran!" Yang explained.

"But... why?" Ruby asked in disbelieve.

"I don't know. And I don't care." she said as she looks out the window.

"There has to be a reason," Ruby said, trying to remain hopeful.

"No, there doesn't! Sometimes bad things just happen, Ruby!" Yang protested.

"So what do we do now?" Ruby asked, as she looks down to the floor.

"*Sigh* you can do whatever you want. I'm gonna lie here," Yang said.

Ruby looks at her older sister in disbelieve and worry.

"Yang..." Ruby tried to reach for her.

"Just leave me alone," Yang said as she looks down.

"I love you," Ruby said softly as she leaves her room.

Yang wipes away her tears as she looks back out to the window.

Two weeks has passed since that moment and Patch is now covered in a blanket of snow. While no one in the house was looking, Ruby snuck out and silently closes the door. As she turns around, she was met with team JNPR.

"Hey," Jaune greeted silently.

"Hey Jaune," Ruby greeted back as he walks towards him.

"Haven's a long way to go," said Ruby.

"I know. But it's the only way we have," said Jaune.

"And you're sure you wanna come along?" Ruby asked.

"The journey will be perilous, and whether we'll find answers at the end is entirely uncertain," said Ren.

"But we wouldn't be here if we weren't up for it," said Pyrrha with a confident smile.

"Then let's get started," said Ruby as the entire group started their journey.

'A smaller, more hinest soul. It's true that a simple spark can ignite hope. Breathe fire into the hearts of the weary.the ability to derive strength from hope is undoubtedly mankind's greatest attribute.'

While the group of five were walking away from Ruby's home, Taiyang walks into Ruby's room with a tray with food on it, only to find a note on the bed. In a panic, he drops the tray and runs past Yang's room, whose still in bed and depressed of the recent events. Yang looks out of the window and see a raven on a nearby branch of a tree. The raven then flew away, into the world.

'Which is why... I will focus all of my power to snuff it out. How does it feel? Knowing that all of your time and effort has been for nothing.'

Beacon, once a great and powerful place where people learned to become Huntsmen and Huntresses, is now in ruins and overrun by all kinds of creatures of Grimm.

'That your guardians have failed you. That everything you've built, will be torn down before your very eyes. Your faith in mankind was not misplaced.'

At Vale, was Glynda, Nickel, Amethyst and all kind of Hunters trying their best to rebuilt the damaged that was caused by the creatures of darkness. Glynda uses her telekinesis to rebuilt the front of a broken apartment, but once it was almost repaired, she lost her energy, causing the front of the building to collapse again. Nickel and Amethyst quickly ran to her side, trying their best to help each other in their time of need.

Nickel looks into the sky as he started to feel guilty to let all of his team members go, but he was needed to reconstruct Vale. He shakes his head as he focuses back to the task in hand.

'When banded together, unified by a common enemy... they are a noticeable threat. But divide them... place doubt into their minds.'

On the roofs of Vale, was Blake. Jumping from roof to roof, she looks around for any wounded people that didn't evacuate or to find some hints about the White Fang. She looks towards what was left of Beacon, and saw rubble all around in. But at the top of the tower, was nothing left but a decapitated dragon statue. She snaps back to reality as she jumps towards the next roof.

'And any semblance of power they once had will wash away.'

In the air, on the way to Atlas, was Weiss. She looks out to the window of the plane before she gives her father a disgusted look. Of course, he didn't noticed it or did he care.

'Of course, they won't realize it at first. Like you, they'll cling to their fleeting hope.'

In a Bullhead going to Haven, was Rogue accompanied by Velvet and Coco. Both of them are asleep during the ride, but Rogue was still awake. He was feeling guilty for leaving everyone behind, but he has nowhere to go, but his girlfriends were kind enough to let him join them during the evacuation.

But that doesn't change that he basically abandoned his family.

'Their aspirations. But this is merely the first move.'

At a Cliffside at Patch, was Ruby saying goodbye to the grave of her mother. She then looks back to Team JNPR who were waiting patiently for her. Once Ruby was done, she rejoined the group and continued on their journey to Haven.

'So, you send your guardians... your huntsmen and huntresses. And when they fail and you turn to your smaller soul, know that you send her to the same pitiful demise.'

At an unknown part of Remnant, where the broken moon shine at the dark purple skies and where the land is filled with nothing but rock and glowing crystals, was a pale queen, looking out into the world.

'This is the beginning of the end, Ozpin. And I can't wait to watch you burn.' Said the queen of Grimm as her eyes started to glow red.

'𝕭𝖚𝖙 𝖓𝖔𝖙 𝖆𝖘 𝖑𝖔𝖓𝖌 𝖆𝖘 𝖕𝖊𝖔𝖕𝖑𝖊 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝖍𝖊𝖗, 𝖕𝖊𝖔𝖕𝖑𝖊 𝖑𝖎𝖐𝖊 𝖒𝖊, 𝖜𝖎𝖑𝖑 𝖉𝖔 𝖊𝖛𝖊𝖗𝖞𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝖎𝖓 𝖔𝖚𝖗 𝖕𝖔𝖜𝖊𝖗 𝖙𝖔 𝖕𝖗𝖔𝖙𝖊𝖈𝖙 𝖙𝖍𝖔𝖘𝖊 𝖜𝖍𝖔 𝖓𝖊𝖊𝖉𝖘 𝖎𝖙. "I everyone ready?" I asked to the group as we clean up the last things of out makeshift camp.

"As ready as I'll ever be," said Amber as she walks towards me.

"I'm a bit hesitant, but we got no where else to go. Are you sure that well be safe?" Roman asked as he started to dust his jacket.

"As long as you'll stay close to me, things should be fine," I said, trying to reassure the now ex-criminal.

'(F/n), where are we going?' Neo signed to me as she hugs one of my arms.

"Got some instructions from Ozpin before he died. We're going to Haven," I explained.

"That's going to take us a while to get there, especially on foot," Roman complained.

"True, but we have nowhere else to go, rigth?" Amber asked.

"Correct. Now, I'll ask again, is everybody ready to go?" I asked to which everyone nodded.

"Then let our journey begin," I said with a confident smile.
