Chapter 19 -Departure-
I'm in my dorm, packing the little clothes that I have. Coco did offered me to buy some clothes, tried to force me is a better description of that event really, but I always preferred to have as little stuff as possible.
"So, you're really going to train outside with this Qrow guy for six months?" Rogue asked as I continued to pack my stuff.
"That's pretty much is correct. Apparently, he is Ruby's and Yang's uncle, so... that says a lot about him," I explained to him.
"We are going to miss you, though," said Nickel.
"I have to agree with Nickel. You were always an interesting addition to this team," said Rogue.
"Guys, I'll be just gone for a while, I'm not dying. At least, I'm not planning to," I responded jokingly.
"Yeah, you're right. It's just that you're like a brother to us here," said Rogue.
"He is right. All of us had a difficult childhood and now we take care of each other," said Nickel with a kind smile.
"I have to agree with you there," I said, as I put my packed back aside and sit down on my bed.
They were right. Rogue and Nickel are like brother to me as time went on. Before I met my actual family, they were always there for me and helped me to get stronger, and I did the same to them. When they needed help, I was always there for them.
"So, I presume that you explained the situation to the rest of Team RWBY and JNPR?" Rogue asked.
"I did, but... some took it better than others," I said to them.
-Flashback, Lunch Time-
"What!?" everyone screamed, except for Ruby.
"Yep, I'll be going for six months," I explained in a sad tone.
"B-but why?" Blake asked.
"To continue my special training. Ozpin's orders," I simply explained.
"Well... I hope that it'll go well," said Pyrrha with a sad smile.
"Guys, cheer up. I will return after the training," I said to them.
"Glad to hear that but..." Yang started.
"You'll return next year," Weiss pointed out.
"I'm aware of that as well, but I'll try to keep contact with all of you all when I'm gone," I explained to them.
"When are you going?" Ren asked.
"Tomorrow," I said to them.
"Oh..." they all said.
"But, we can spend the rest of the day together," I said to them, trying to cheer them up.
"Yeah, that sounds nice," said Blake with a sad smile.
"I like that idea," said Yang.
"Sure," said Weiss, with a monotone voice.
"No problem, bro," said Jaune.
"I'd love too" said Pyrrha, with her usual kind smile.
"Let's do a goodbye party!" said Nora, jumping up and down.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Nora," said Ren.
I let out a chuckle, but I did notice something... different. Ruby stayed quite the whole time.
-Flashback over-
"I got to ask. What do you think of... all of the things that's given to you?" Nickel asked.
I started to think about that question. Ozpin has given me a home to stay warm, food to eat, friends that are kind to me and a different kind of family.
"I'm... glad that Ozpin sent you guys to look for me," I said to them.
"So are we," said Rogue, giving me a pad on my back.
"Now, I think we should go to sleep. (F/n) needs to wake up early for his departure," said Nickel, as he makes his way to his bed.
"Alright. See you guys tomorrow," said Rogue, jumping in his bed.
I lay down on the bed as well, and started to pray before falling to sleep.
-Gods Realm-
"Hello, Phoenix," my father greeted when I arrived.
"Hello dad," I greeted back.
"What can I do for you?" he asked with a kind smile.
"Well... I want to ask you something. Have... you, or any of the other gods, been intervening with my life?" I asked, nervously.
"No, but I'm not sure about the rest, though. Why do you ask?" he asked, with a concerned tone.
"It's... nothing. Just a stupid coincidence then," I answered.
"It's about your deaths, isn't it?" my father asked.
"...Yeah," I responded.
"Then I can say for sure that's not me. But, it may be something to do with fate," he explained.
"Fate?" I asked with confusion and curiosity.
"I'm not sure, but fate might be preparing something for your future," he explained.
"Hmm... Maybe. Thanks for this talk, dad," I said as I hug him.
"Anytime, son. Now, get some rest. Tomorrow is going to be a long day for you," he said, hugging me back.
"Alright, goodnight," I said, returning to the mortal world.
-The next day, Bullhead Bay-
"Finally, you arrived," said Qrow, waiting in front of a Bullhead while drinking from his flask.
"What? I had to say one final goodbye to everyone," I said, with my mask in hand.
"Well, at least I now see with who I'm going to work with. Now, let's go," he said, boarding the Bullhead.
I made my way to the Bullhead, until...
"(F/n)! Wait!" screamed someone behind me.
I turn around, only to be tackled to the ground. I look who it was that tackled me, and unsurprisingly, Ruby was sitting on top of me.
"Ruby. Maybe you should consider not using your semblance that often," I commented.
"Sorry, (F/n). I-I wanted to s-say something important b-before you go, " she said timidly.
"What is i-"
I was cut off by Ruby, slamming her lips against mine. I was speechless that Ruby would do something like this, but I kissed her back.
"I-I-I love you, (F/n). I-I'll wait for you to return," she said, hugging me for dear life and crying a bit.
"I love you too, Ruby," I said gently petting her head.
We stayed like this for a minute before she eventually let go of me.
"I'll text to you when I land, alright?" I said, standing up.
"P-promise?" she asked, still with some tears in her eyes.
"I promise," I said wiping away her tears.
I kneel down to her height and gave her another kiss on the lips and she gladly accepted it.
Eventually, we parted ways.
"Take care of yourself, Ruby," I said to her as I finally boarded the Bullhead.
"You too, (F/n)!" she said as she runs back to her dorm.
The Bullhead closes as I took a seat in front of Qrow.
"Took ya long enough," he said, slightly annoyed.
"Sorry, one of my friends came to say goodbye one final time," I said, putting on my mask.
"Your friends really care about you, huh?" he asked.
"Yeah. Beacon is the family I never had," I said to him with a smile.
"If you say so. Welp, wake me up when we land," he said, laying down on the row of chairs.
'Seriously?' I though as I shake my head.
I pull out my Scroll and started to look for a song for this long journey to listen to.
