Dead

We had stopped in front of a huge garage. We were a long way away from blue skies and green grass here. Everything was grey. The sky, the concrete, even the sound of barking dogs could be described as grey. The purple car stood out against this, and I climbed out, brushing down my hair. I bit my lip excitedly. The Jokers team were surrounding the place, wearing their masks. I always loved seeing that. To me it represented how creative the joker was.

"Where to?" I asked. He smiled, motioned to the huge garage door. It opened as if by command, squealing in protest at moving. It revealed blackness. The Joker rolled his neck, stretched his face into a grimace and then put his head down, striding forward like a man on a mission. Well, he was a man on a mission. And I was here too. I quickly followed after him, swinging my bat around me like a toy. He was wearing his gold suit today, which meant it was probably a special occasion. He definitely knew how to dress up.

We entered into the darkness, and I laughed into it. I felt so free in the pitch black, knowing that my lover was right there with me. I felt his hand on my arm, pulling me forward, rings digging into my skin. We walked for a while and then I saw the man. He was tied up with rope, a huge spotlight on him like in the movies. I clapped my hands together and whooped. "This is so fancy!"

The Joker turned his head, grinned, then turned back to the man in the chair. He circled him slowly, like a shark sizing up its meal, savouring the knowledge that, soon, it would be dead. He came up behind him and grabbed his head with both hands. He leant forward and whispered something into his ear. The man shrunk, closing both eyes tightly. I flounced over to him and felt the light hit my head, shoulders. There were wet tracks of tears running down the man's pink, fat cheeks. My gaze shifted to the man's tortured eyes, and I looked straight at him as I kissed J on his cheek, then bit it. The Joker smiled as I pulled away, teeth marks on his cheek. I leaned forward and put my mouth next to the man's other ear. I could feel the fear radiating off his skin, the constant flutter of his eyelashes, the sweat droplets forming on his forehead, his drenched hair. Maybe he thought I was going to be nice because I was a girl. His voice was muffled, but he looked at me with eyes filled with hope.

I lifted a finger to those tear tracks on his cheek and ran it down them. He let out a sob. I licked it, taking a moment to taste the salty taste of absolute dread. I put my lips closer to his ear, so I that he could hear my breathing. "Honey, you're gonna die", I whispered, and giggled. He winced at the words, screwing his eyes together.

"So, what'd he do?" I asked, straightening and turning to the Joker.

"Thisssss...man" The Joker extended his index finger and pressed it hard against the top of the man's head "This man betrayed me." He dug his finger in to the thin flesh at the top of his head, making the man spin his neck to try to get away. I settled my bat against the side of his neck. "Stay there."

The Joker looked at me and smiled, the light reflecting the metal of his smile.

"He gave me away to Batman. About" He waved his hand, one eyebrow raised "two weeks ago. Told him a lot about me, a lot about where I stay, where I've been," He leaned in closer to the man "what I've done. And so, this man...is going to die today." He sniffed deeply through his nose, eyes closed, as if the man had a scent. All I could smell was fear being emitted off of his cold, sweating body. The Joker turned to me. "Harley, this is your first mission with me. I want you..." He looked at my hair, ran a hand down it "to do the honours."

I smiled and nodded. The man started to shake his head, crying out against his gag in vain. I pressed the bat firmly against the side of his fat, sweating head. I drew back, glanced at the words 'good night' on the wood, and then swung it hard and fast, his head a golf ball to my bat. It landed on the side of his head with a thud and bounced back off, a huge bloodstain on it. The man groaned, head fallen to one side. I laughed ecstatically and drew back again. Swing. Retreat. Swing. Retreat. Swing. His skull had broken open, blood and bone everywhere, onto the Joker screaming with laughter behind me. I could see his brain and marvelled at it as I drew back and swung my bat, now dripping with blood, back into it. His brain was soon mush, his skull unrecognisable as a humans. I stopped, dropped the bat onto the floor and leaned into the Joker, lifting one leg up and hugging him tightly, smiling. "That was so fun!" There was blood dripping down my face, into my mouth. I licked my lips and laughed, craning forward to plant my blood stained lips on the Jokers.

He kissed me savagely and wrapped his arms around me. "You did great Harley." He stroked my hair, spreading the blood around. I sighed with happiness and hugged him tighter.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
