First things first: names.

All names are chosen for a specific reason. Below, I'll state the names,  meanings, and pronunciations.

Helmer = Wrath of a warrior (pronounced Hell-murr)

Samael = Fallen angel of plagues (pronounced Suh-my-ahl)

Euna = Famine or drought (pronounced Yoo-nuh)

Morana = Slavic goddess of winter and death (pronounced More-ay-nuh)

Abalone = A species of shellfish (pronounced Ah-buh-lone)

Cessair = Sorrow or affliction (pronounced Sehs-air)

Azrael = Angel of death in Judaism (pronounced Azz-reel)

Aella = Amazonian warrior (pronounced Ay-luh)

Noah = Inspired by the story of Noah's Ark (pronounced No-uh)

Dierdre = Ill-fated or unfortunate (pronounced Dee-err-dray)

Mallory = Unlucky; unfortunate (pronounced Mahl-orr-ee)

Damien = To tame or control (pronounced Day-mee-en)

Jonah = Bad luck (pronounced J-oh-nuh)

Tristan = Outcry or tumult (pronounced Trih-stun)

Leah = Weary or grieved (pronounced Lee-uh)

Next up, inspiration!

This book is heavily inspired by the 'Book of Revelation'. If you haven't read it, it basically details the Judeo-Christian Apocalypse, in which there are four horsemen (War, Pestilence- who is also known as Conquest -Famine, and Death) who are set with the task of cleansing the planet. They send everyone's souls to Purgatory, where they will be judged on whether they go to Heaven or Hell. The Apocalypse is also known as Judgement Day for this reason. I highly recommend you read the Book of Revelation, and if not the whole thing, then at least verses 1-8.

I created several characters based on my own life, and friends of mine who requested to be included.

Each Bible verse is directly related to the chapter theme, so make sure you read those :)
