CHAPTER 37

The sun hung low in the afternoon sky, casting a warm golden hue over Dronacharya's ashram. The scent of blooming flowers wafted through the air, merging with the earthy aroma of the ashram.

The Kauravas, weary from morning training sessions, lounged in their wooden huts, some dozing off, while others engaged in spirited banter. Laughter echoed as a few played little games, their voices mingling with the rustling leaves.

In a nearby clearing, the Pandavas, led by Yudhishthir's calm presence, were engaged in a playful escape from their usual duties. Bheem's hearty laughter echoed as he watched Nakul and Sahadev frolic with a sprightly dog, its fur glistening in the afternoon sun. The brothers took turns tossing a stick, their bond evident in the shared joy of the moment. Nakul, with a gleam of mischief in his eyes, sent the dog bounding after the stick, while Sahadev clapped his hands, encouraging the animal's spirited chase.

Yet, none of this reached Arjun's ears, who sat beneath the sprawling branches of an ancient tree, the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves casting playful shadows across his focused face. His fingers delicately traced the delicate scripts of the Dhanurveda manuscripts, each syllable resonating with the sacred art of archery and warfare.

The nearby stables were alive with the soft whinnies of horses, eager for attention and exercise, but even their calls failed to penetrate Arjun's focus. Ashwathama, who came to feed the horses, glanced over and noticed the prince's intense dedication. As he poured oats into the trough, he stopped for a moment, admiring the younger warrior's commitment. Unlike the boisterous camaraderie of his peers, Arjun exuded a quiet intensity, a profound commitment to his craft.

Arjun gently laid down the manuscripts, their pages fluttering slightly in the warm breeze. He squinted against the sunlight filtering through the tree leaves, momentarily lost in thought, then turned his gaze towards Ashwathama, who was diligently attending to the horses. The noise of neighing horses faded into the background as their eyes met.

Instinctively, he stood up, his posture straightening with respect. "Pranipat Gurubhrata." He joined his hands in a traditional greeting, the folds of his antariya rustling quietly as he bowed slightly.

Ashwathama's expression softened into a smile, recognizing the sincerity in Arjun. He raised his hand in return, "Kalyanamastu Arjun."

Arjun mirrored the smile, the corners of his lips curving upward, reflecting the quiet confidence that often lay within him. With a nod of understanding, Arjun picked up his manuscripts, cradling them gently as he turned toward the hut he shared with his brothers.

As he entered, the laughter of his brothers reached his ears, a melody of warmth and kinship. Yudhishthir glanced up and, with a gentle smile, beckoned him closer, "Arjun ? Chalo aao."

Arjun paused, "Vishram ka samaye samaapt hone ko aya hai, Jyesht." He reminded them, his voice steady yet affectionate.

The playful atmosphere shifted, a whisper of anticipation hanging in the air. Bheem's eyes sparkled with excitement, a grin spreading across his face as he recognized the unspoken cue.

"Ah ! Gadayudh ke abhyaas ka samaye aagaya. Ab Anand aayega !" He exclaimed, slapping his palms together, the sound echoing their burgeoning energy.

Dust motes danced in the golden rays that filtered through the trees, casting playful shadows on the ground where two formidable figures faced off. Bheem, towering and muscular, wielded his massive mace with effortless grace. His delight was palpable, a broad grin spreading across his face as he swung the weapon in powerful arcs, each strike echoing through the serene surroundings.

Before him, Duryodhan struggled, his brow glistening with sweat. He gripped his mace tightly, his focus intense, yet the weight of the weapon seemed an insurmountable burden in his hands. Despite his royal stature and natural talent, he found himself outmatched in this contest of strength. As Bheem's laughter rang out, Duryodhan's face flickered between determination and frustration, his muscles straining with the effort to keep up.

Watching intently, Dronacharya stood a few paces away, his imposing figure radiating authority and wisdom. With a practiced eye, he noted Duryodhan's shortcomings.

He stepped forward, his voice calm yet commanding, "Gada aise pakdo Duryodhan. Ise apne ang ka hi bhaag banao." he instructed, placing his hands on Duryodhan's shoulders, guiding him into a more balanced stance.

Around the ring, the rest of the princes stood poised, maces in hand, their expressions a mix of admiration and envy. The Kauravas exchanged disdainful glances at Bheem, their rivalry palpable, while the Pandavas beamed with pride at Bheem's progress. Yudhishthir smiled warmly at his brother but cast a concerned glance at Duryodhan, worried that the fierce training might lead to hurt feelings or injuries.

Duryodhan, determination etched on his brow, lunged at Bheem with renewed vigor. This time, his movements were sharper, and for a fleeting moment, he managed to connect with Bheem's mace, creating a satisfying clang that resonated through the air. Yet, despite his efforts, Bheem stood unyielding, his grip firm and confidence radiating from his every swing.

As the clash of metal echoed, Arjun's keen eyes were drawn to Bheem's powerful movements. Each swing of the mace was a lesson in strength and technique, and Arjun's mind absorbed every detail. He admired Bheem's form-the fluidity of his strikes, the unwavering focus in his eyes, and the precision of his footwork.

Arjun couldn't help but sway his own mace gently as he instinctively tried to mimic Bheem's moves. With each attempted mimicry of Bheem's technique, Arjun sought to refine his own skills, determined to elevate his prowess.
