CHAPTER 14
Dilip entered the bedroom, his footsteps soft and quiet. Aarvi was seated on the bed, cradling Krishneshwari in her arms. The baby slept peacefully, her tiny chest rising and falling with each breath.
As Dilip approached the bed, Aarvi looked up at him, her eyes filled with a mixture of exhaustion and annoyance. She knew why he was there, and she was not pleased. Dilip could tell that she was upset with him. He hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to approach the subject.
Aarvi stood up, her movements gentle as she cradled Krishneshwari in her arms. She carefully placed the baby in the cradle, her heart filled with a sense of peace. As she rocked the cradle, the baby stirred slightly but did not wake up.
Dilip approached the cradle, his eyes filled with love and tenderness. Aarvi turned away, her expression a mix of sadness and frustration. Dilip watched his wife, his heart aching. He then knelt down and gently caressed his daughter's head, his touch soft and gentle.
Dilip stood up and walked towards Aarvi. He knew that this was going to be a difficult conversation, but he was determined to have it. He also found this rather amusing. He, the man who commanded armies and ruled over vast territories, was reduced to the status of a pleading husband, trying to convince his wife to let the guests in. It was a comical spectacle, a king humbled by the domestic tyranny of his queen.
Aarvi turned to face him, her eyes filled with a mixture of anger and defiance. She tried to walk away, but Dilip reached out and gently took her shoulders, stopping her in her tracks.
"Aarvi..." he said, his voice soft but firm, "Mai jaantu hu tumhe Krishneshwari ki chinta hai. Kintu tum use jeevan bhar iss bhavan mei band toh nahi rakh sakti. Aaj na kal toh use logo se milna hi hoga. Aur yeh toh Kuru hai, Bharatvarsh ke sabse shaktishaali rajvansh."
Aarvi glared at him, her eyes filled with a cold fury. She was not in the mood to listen to reason.
"Krishneshwari aapke liye kya hai Arya ? Putri ya Rajniti mei ek mohra ?" Aarvi asked accusingly.
Dilip calmly said, "Krishneshwari mere praan hai, Shubhey. Aur jis prakar yeh mere jeevan mei sabse amulya hai, Kuruo ke jeevan mei bhi Akhand Maharani sabse amulya hai."
"Tatparya ?" Aarvi's eyes narrowed. She was not convinced.
Dilip told, "Devi Harihareshwari ko Akhand Maharani ki padvi par Chakravarti Bharat ne sthaapit kiya tha. Aaj humare ghar jo Kuru aaye hai, woh Bharatvanshi hai. Unke liye Krishneshwari se milna, bahut badi baat hai."
"Yadi itni priya hai unhe Akhand Maharani, toh ab kyu aaye hai ? Chaar maas ho gaye humari kanya ka prakatya huye. Inn chaar mahino mei aisa koi din nahi gaya, jab koi Samant, Raja, Maharaj, Samrat, Rishi-muni, athva brahman na aaye ho." She spat, "Iss chhoti si kanya ko thik se vishram nahi mila hai ek bhi din."
Aarvi looked away, her eyes filled with tears. Dilip knew that he had to find a way to convince Aarvi, to make her understand the importance of this meeting. But he also knew that it would not be easy.
"Aarvi," Dilip reached out and gently wiped away Aarvi's tears. His heart ached to see her so upset. "Mata hone ke karan tumhara chintan swabhavik hai. Kintu humari kanya koi sadhaaran manushya nahi hai. Woh ek divya jyoti hai, jiska janm lok-kalyaan hetu huya hai."
With a voice filled with tenderness, he said, "Jis prakar bhakt ko mandir mei aane se rokna paap hai, uss hi prakar hum kisi bhi darshalu ko Krishneshwari se milne hetu nahi rok sakte."
Aarvi looked at him, her eyes still filled with tears. Dilip wrapped his arms around her and with a sense of pride in his voice said, "Tumhe toh prasann hona chahiye, bade se bade Maharaj aur Samrat, uch se uch kul ke purush, humari abodh baalika se samaksh nat-mastak hote hai."
Aarvi hesitated, her mind racing. She knew that Dilip was right. Every guest that came held great significance, a testament to the power and influence of their daughter.
"Aur waise bhi..." Dilip sheepishly said, "Maine Kuruo ko vachan diya hai, ki kal unhe Krishneshwari ke darshan ho jaayenge."
Aarvi glared at him, her expression a mix of annoyance and resignation. She knew that Dilip was right. He had given his word, and she couldn't expect him to break it.
With a heavy sigh, she nodded, "Uchit hai."
Dilip's heart soared. He had done it. He had convinced Aarvi to let the Kurus meet Krishneshwari. He was overcome with joy. He pulled Aarvi into a warm embrace, startling her slightly. However, she soon melted into his arms, her resistance melting away.
