CHAPTER 23

Amarsri shimmered with divine energy as she bustled around in her kitchen, orchestrating the morning preparations. As she worked her culinary magic, Srinav playfully trailed after her, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Chaliye na Devi," He urged, his voice like a gentle breeze, "Aaj kitna accha mausam hai."

Amarsri laughed, a melodious sound that echoed through the room, "Aapke baato par rahe toh ho gaya ghar ka karya."

But Srinav persisted, "Kintu mujhe bhook nahi lagi hai. Chaliye na bahar, vatavaran ka anand lete hai !"

Despite his pleas, Amarsri continued her tasks, her focus unwavering as she created delectable dishes fit for the gods. However his appeals grew more fervent, his eyes sparkling with affection.

"Aangan mei hum pushpshringar kar sakte hai, geet vadya kar sakte hai, iss ritu ka sampurn anand utha sakte hai." He pressed on.

His affectionate persistence tugged at Amarsri's heartstrings. Also, the morning indeed was quite pleasant, too pleasant not to be spent with him.

With a loving gaze, she finally relented, "Uchit hai. Aap jaayiye, mai shigreh yeh karya samaapt kar aati hu."

Srinav raised a brow, "Ana awashya kintu."

"Ha ha. Kuch hi kshano mei aati hu." Amarsri patted his chest.

Srinav's eyes sparkled with joy as he left, knowing that she would follow soon after. The kitchen seemed to hold its breath in anticipation as Amarsri paused for a moment, her eyes filled with tender adoration for her husband. With a soft promise to join him in a few moments, she continued her tasks eager to finish it quickly.

As Amarsri busily prepared for the day ahead, Rambha and Menka glided into the kitchen, their laughter echoing like music in the sacred space.

"Amarsri !" Rambha squealed, "Aaj tum vishwas nahi karogi ki swarglok mei kya huya !"

Excitedly, Rambha and Menka perched themselves on the edge of the table, their colorful garments flowing like ethereal rivers. Amarsri, torn between her promise to meet her husband and the infectious joy of her friends, hesitated initially. But her heart softened at the sheer joy radiating from her friends' faces. She couldn't curb that down.

With a gentle smile, Amarsri gestured for Rambha and Menka to proceed with their story, convinced that a brief moment of indulgence wouldn't hinder her plans significantly.

"Toh aaj Devraj ne kaha ki..." Rambha and Menka began their animated storytelling, their voices harmonizing like a symphony.

Amarsri listened attentively, her thoughts wandering to her husband's impending meeting. Yet, as the Apsaras' story unfolded, she found herself drawn into their narrative. Initially just a polite listener, Amarsri soon found herself chuckling along with her friends, getting more engrossed in the tale with each passing moment. The infectious energy of her friends and the whimsical nature of the story captivated her, evoking genuine amusement.

Her curiosity was piqued by the mischievous glint in her friends' eyes. Her own eyes sparkled with amusement, and a genuine smile graced her lips as she became fully engrossed in the tale. Time seemed to slip away as the apsaras spun their yarn of a story, their gestures animated and their voices filled with mirth. Amarsri, usually focused on her duties, forgot all about her tasks as she laughed along with her friends, completely lost in the joy of the moment.

As they shared more anecdotes and witty remarks, the kitchen filled with joyous laughter and playful banter. Unbeknownst to them, time seemed to slip away in the midst of their storytelling. The sun's gentle rays shifted across the room, casting a warm glow over the trio.

"Fir Indrani aayi, tab jaa ke sab sambhala." Menka chuckled.

Amarsri erupted in laughter, her cheeks flushed with amusement, the sound echoing through the heavenly kitchen. Then the apsaras realized the sun was high in the sky, signaling the approach of noon.

"Oh ho. Kitna samaye beet gaya !" Rambha exclaimed.

Menka said, "Ab hume jana chahiye."

"Aate raha karo aise hi." Amarsri smiled. With a sense of urgency, Rambha and Menka hurriedly bid her farewell, leaving for Swarglok.

As the echoes of laughter faded, Amarsri stood alone in her kitchen, a smile lingering on her lips. Suddenly felt a pang of realization that she was forgetting something important. It was quite a nagging sense of forgetfulness. Glancing out the window in the afternoon, she suddenly remembered her impending meeting with Srinav.

Amarsri's heart skipped a beat. Her eyes widened in realization, a sense of urgency seizing her being. In that moment, all tasks in the kitchen were forgotten as she hastily abandoned her preparations.

With graceful haste, she dashed through the corridors of her celestial abode, her flowing garments billowing behind her. The gardens outside beckoned to her with the vibrant blooms and gentle breezes. Finally, she burst through the ornate gates, her eyes scanning the horizon for the familiar figure of her beloved. And as she caught sight of him, a smile spread across her face.

However as she saw him standing tall, she also saw his expression clouded with anger, his jaw was clenched tightly, his eyes were stern and unforgiving. Her heart sank as she approached him, uncertainty creeping into her smile.

"Srinav ?" She hoped to ease his distress.

However, as she drew near, he raised his hand in a sharp gesture, halting her in her tracks. His eyes glinted with frustration at her delay.

Amarsri's heart sank, she tried to reason, "Dev woh apsaraye agayi thi, swarg mei huyi ek hasyapurn kahani batane..... Woh dono itni prasann thi ki mujhse 'na' nahi kaha gaya.... Fir kahani sunte sunte samaye ka bhaan hi nahi raha... Aur-" She tried to explain, but the words caught in her throat as she saw the disappointment in his eyes only kept increasing.

Without a word, he turned on his heel and marched back inside, his footsteps heavy and resounding with anger. Amarsri stood rooted to the spot, her heart sinking with guilt and regret.
