CHAPTER 98
It's been five days, since Rameshwari came to Shravasti to inspect the thousand villages under the possession of her grand-mother Kaushalya.
She was sitting in the assembly hall of Shravasti, where several Sabhasad, male heads of the village, and several Sabhavati, female heads of the villages were present along with other important title-holders.
Ulka was sitting right beside Rameshwari, writing down the notes on a paper, for reporting purposes.
"Shaashan-pratinidhi Kulpa, kya aap Grihapatiyo par shaashan karte hai ?" Rameshwari asked.
"Ji Rajkumari." The Kulpa said.
"Kul-dharm ka palan karwate hai ?" She asked.
"Ji Rajkumari." The Kulpa said.
"Kulpa, aap Maharaj aur Grihapatiyo ke bich ki kadi hai. Sadev iss sutra aur pad ka samman kijiyega." Rameshwari said.
"Awashya." The Kulpa bowed and the Ram-Suta gestured him to take his seat.
"Vraajpati !" She called and the said position holder stood up.
"Ji Rajkumari ?" He asked humbly.
"Vraajpati, kya aap kul ki sampatti ki raksha karte hai ?" She asked.
"Ha Rajkumari." Vraajpati said.
"Uchit hai. Sthaan grahan kariye." Rameshwari said. "Gramni !" She called upon next.
"Ji Rajkumari ?" The Gramni stood up.
"Gramni, kya Kulpa aur Vraajpati aapke maarg-darshan mei karya karte hai ?" Rameshwari asked.
"Ha Rajkumari." The Gramni nodded.
"Gramni, aapko shaashtro mei Manu bhi kehte hai kyuki aapse yeh apeksha ki jaati hai ki aap Gram-vaasiyo se Pita ke bhaati vyavhar kare." Rameshwari said.
"Satyavachan Rajkumari." Gramni said.
"Vriddh Pita ke jaise khich-khich toh nahi karte na ?" She asked in jest.
"Nahi Rajkumari." The Gramni chuckled and Rameshwari told him to take his seat.
"Sabhapati, kya Graam-vaasi, Grihapati, Kulpa, Vraajpati aur Gramni aapke sanrakshan mei hai ?" Rameshwari asked the male head of a sabha.
"Ji Rajkumari." The Sabhapati said.
"Sabhavati !" She called upon the female head of another sabha.
"Ji Rajkumari ?" The Sabhavati stood up bowing.
"Kya aapke Gram mei kanyao ka Upnayan hota hai ?" Rameshwari asked.
"Ha Rajkumari." Sabhavati said.
"Kya woh Shashtra aur Shaashtra ka abhyaas karti hai ?" Rameshwari asked.
"Ji Rajkumari." Sabhavati nodded.
"Kya parivaar mei patni Samragyi hai ?" Rameshwari asked.
"Adhiktar parivaaro mei toh streeyo ka hi shaashan hai, Rajkumari." The Sabhavati said and the assembly chuckled joyfully.
"Kya streeyo ko nyaaye milta hai ?" Rameshwari asked.
"Ha Rajkumari." The Sabhavati said.
"Uttam. Aap sabhi ko toh gyaat hi hoga ki Prajapati ne Sabha aur Samhiti ko apni putriya kaha hai. Kintu pata hai kyu ? Mere Pitashree arthat Maharaj Ram kehte hai ki jis raashtra mei putriyo ko samman nahi milta, unke prati anyaye hota hai, unka apmaan hota hai, waha devta bhi ahuti grahan nahi karte." Rameshwari said.
"Saadho ! Saadho !" The assemblage praised in agreement.
"Aap sabhi prasthaan kar sakte hai." Rameshwari said.
The assembled people bowed to her and then began leaving. Rameshwari looked at Ulka who had finished reporting the assembly of today.
"Toh yeh antim sabha thi ?" Ulka asked.
"Ha. Bas Gram-nirikshan kar le fir Ayodhya hetu prasthaan karenge." Rameshwari said.
"Uttam." Ulka said.
Both the girls stood up and went up to their horses, mounting on them they went to inspect the village, with a troop of soldiers following them behind.
"Ulka, mere anusaar inn sabhi graamo mei ek hi kami hai. Yaha ke gharo ki vyavastha. Yeh bahut purane ho gaye hai. Mere anusaar inka punar-nirmaan karna padega." Rameshwari said.
"Graamo ka punar-nirmaan." Ulka muttered noting it down.
They went ahead and in the centre of the village, heard a melodious music and a crowd of people were had surrounded the whosoever was playing.
"Kya sur hai." Rameshwari muttered.
"Satya vachan." Ulka said.
"Kintu hume Ayodhya hetu prasthaan karna hai." Rameshwari said.
She turned her horse, the magnificent Vajra, away, but suddenly the sweet singing voice fell in her ear, but what made her stop was the beautiful verses being sung.
"Raghuvar jaisa aur na koi, Sita ki samta nahi hoyi ! Dou kare parajit, kaanti koti Rati-Kaam ki !"
Hearing the names, Rameshwari turned Vajra towards the crowd and directed him to go there. Hearing his footsteps and neigh, the people got to side and made way for the princess, who was curious to see who were the singers, blessed with such a sweet voice.
But seeing a pair of twin brothers, Rameshwari was shocked for both of them were splitting images of Shri Ram and Devi Sita.
