CHAPTER 129

As the news of departure of Mrunmaye fell unto the ears of the kings, a new determination found its way in them, for they now thought that their competition was not in Kosal, and hence they had a chance to woo Rameshwari.

Hence when the crown-princes, princes and other noble men were asleep, the kings were wide-awaken before sunrise as they had to be.

Arranging the most beautiful of flowers, wreathing it into big garlands, and gathering it in bigger bouquets, several kings rushed to the bhavan of Rameshwari, wanting to be the first one to give her flowers but on their way saw each other.

They hadn't expected each other to come as well, the kings looked at each other with contempt, while firmly holding the flower arrangements in their hands, taking pride in their own flowers while looking down upon the flowers brought in by others.

But not wanting to cause a scene in the palace of Chakravarti, the kings remained silent and their heads high they reached the bhavan, which was illuminated by dim lights.

They were stopped by the guards outside, who were quite surprised and confused seeing the kings here at this odd hour when even the sun hadn't arisen.

"Hum Rajkumari se milne ke icchuk hai." A king said.

"Kintu woh toh abhi nidra mei hai." The guards said.

"Hum atithi-gan unse milne ka Anurodh karte hai." Another king said, cleverly.

Now as it was a request from the guests, the guards appointed by Shri Ram couldn't deny it. Hence one of them went inside to the stree-adhyaksh of the bhavan, who was patroling around the bhavan, checking the security and carrying a spear in her hand.

"Stree-adhyaksh, bahar atithi Maharaj aur Raja, Rajkumari se milne ka anurodh kar rahe hai." The guard said.

"Iss samaye ?" Stree-adhyaksh asked raising a brow.

"Ha. Kripiya Rajkumari ki param-sakhi ko kahiye ki Rajkumari ko uthaye." The guard requested.

"Uchit hai." The stree-adhyaksh nodded.

She went straight to the room of Ulka, waking her up and telling everything. Ulka was sceptical about the kings coming at this hour but since it was a request from the guests, she complied.

Ulka went to the room of the princess, which was dimly illuminated. On a luxurious bed, the Ram-suta was in deep sleep, the pramukh sakhi hesitated for a moment but shook her a little.

Rameshwari opened her eyes, and groggily looked Ulka.

"Kya huya ?" She asked in a heavy raspy voice.

"Aapse milne Raja Maharaja aaye hai." Ulka said.

Rameshwari frowned before looking at the sky, it the sun hadn't even arisen now and kings wanted to meet her at this hour ?

"Aap kahe toh mana kar aayu ki Rajkumari abhi nahi milengi ?" Ulka suggested.

"Nahi. Uski awashyakta nahi, atithi hai woh humare. Tum Pratihari se kaho unhe bhavan ke andar bulwa ke aasan de, tab mai sajj hoke aati hu." Rameshwari said getting up.

"Jo aagya." Ulka nodded and went out.

She went straight to the Pratihari and told her to bring the kings in, who obeyed and with due respect brought them in a hall, and gave them seats befitting their honour.

The kings waited patiently, holding their flowers in their hands, they were imagining how happy the princess would be and how impressed she would be seeing it.

Some time went by and it was around Brahmamuhurat, when the Pratihari came in and announced the arrival of the princess.

The kings stood up from their seats and eagerly looked at the direction from which the princess came from the dark hallway, but what they saw made their jaws drop.

Shivers went down their spine, every hair of their skin stood up, sweat was quick to form on their foreheads, seeing the divine form of a goddess in her.

The Pratihari, stree-adhyaksh and Ulka looked between Rameshwari and the kings back and forth confused, because they weren't able to see what the followers of Rajdharm were seeing.

"Ekant." Rameshwari said and Ulka left along with stree-adhyaksh and Pratihari.

The kings stared at her with their lips slightly quivering, tears blurred their vision but they wiped it away quickly, wanting to take in the rare sight in front of them.

Seeing her multi-handed form, carrying all the Shaashtras and astras one could think of, and a divine warm light behind her head, quite resembling a crown, the kings recognised who she was.

How could they not ? She was Yudh-kaushala, the strength of warriors. She was the Akhand Maharani Arya-bharti, the one on whose behalf these kings rule the earth.

Slowly, the kings walked up towards her. The flowers in their hands which they had brought to impress her, instead of giving it in her hands, they offered the flowers at her feet.

The kings got on their knees, all of them sobbed in delight, many of them laid down completely on the ground doing a shashtang dandvat pranaam, few of them touched their forehead on her lotus like soft feet and then kissed them.

A small smile appeared on the face of Rameshwari, as she looked at kings who had always walked on the path of Dharma.

"Mujhe garv hai tum sab par." She said.

The kings joined their hands, and cried, it seemed that all the struggles they had gone through, all the sacrifices that they made for their people and their kingdom, was fruitful because it was recognised by Akhand Maharani herself.

Indeed what the sages have said about Brahmamuhurat was true.
